Flipkart ranked among the 100 best companies for women

Flipkart ranked among the 100 best companies for women to work for in India for the second time in a row
Flipkart, India’s leading e-commerce marketplace, has been once again awarded the distinction of being among the 100 best companies for women to work for in India in a study conducted by Avtar, India’s premier Diversity & Inclusion strategy firm. This is the second consecutive year that Flipkart has been ranked in Avtar’s list. This achievement is a result of Flipkart’s exemplary top-level commitment, progressive and flexible work policies, advancement opportunities, and safety and security protocols.
Commenting on this recognition, Kalyan Krishnamurthy, Chief Executive Officer, Flipkart, said, “An inclusive and diverse work culture is a key imperative for us - I believe it leads to a diversity of ideas that eventually help us solve for our customers needs ”
Crediting Flipkart’s people managers and teams on this achievement, Smriti Krishna Singh, Chief Human Resources Officer, Flipkart, said, “The recognition underlines Flipkart’s commitment to creating a workplace that is unbiased, flexible and meritorious; one which fosters excellence and innovation through diversity. The leadership team is deeply committed to creating an inclusive culture and this recognition reaffirms that we are moving in the right direction. ”
Flipkart has taken very intentional measures to further its Inclusion and Diversity agenda across all areas of the organisation - The investment in improving gender ratios across the organization especially in supply chain operations and delivery (wishmasters) roles is especially notable. Additionally, furthering the development of women in technology, the organization has designed forums such as Inspired - a learning and networking platform for women engineers and Girls Wanna Code - a campus initiative to attract more women engineers through hackathons and case challenges. However, the focus of the Inclusion & Diversity at Flipkart is broader than gender: the eDAB (employees with disability) program integrates PWD employees into its workforce seamlessly ; Similarly, the recently launched FlexBen program is designed to deliver personalised benefits plans based on age, gender, sexual orientation and life stage.
Commenting on the findings, Dr. Saundarya Rajesh, Founder – President, AVTAR Group, said, “It is extremely heartening to note that a milestone, originally envisaged as taking several decades to achieve in India, is now less than a decade away. The year on year progress of companies, who have put themselves on a fast-track, via innovative practices and deep commitment is exemplary.”
Adding to this, Ms. Subha V. Barry, President – Working Mother Media, said, “Each year, we look forward to celebrating the 100 Best Companies in India by shining a spotlight on the work they are doing on behalf of women throughout the country. Much progress has been made."
Flipkart’s work policies reflect the company’s efforts to create a progressive work environment that drives inclusion and innovation and encourages work-life balance. Flipkart has been ranked first in LinkedIn’s 2019 ‘Top Companies’ survey. Flipkart had also previously topped the rankings in the years 2016 and 2017.
