Leading industrial and automotive supplier, Schaeffler India Limited (BSE: 505790, NSE: SCHAEFFLER) today announced the beneficiaries of HOPE Engineering Scholarship Program 2019-20. Through this initiative, Schaeffler India will be providing Scholarships to 32 meritorious students from financially disadvantaged families, who aspire to build a career in the fields of engineering. Special preference was reserved for women candidates who had applied for this program. The initiative was implemented with Buddy4study foundation.

The engineering scholarship initiative is part of Schaeffler India’s continuous endeavor towards empowerment through education. To avail the grant, students from Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu applied through a detailed online process. The selection was based on candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria and going through a personal interview session conducted by a jury of eminent members organized by Schaeffler India.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Santanu Ghoshal, Vice President, Human Resource - Schaeffler India, said, “The youth of the country must be given equal opportunities to build a nation that is self-sustaining and progressive. It is dreams that give us HOPE and purpose in life but financial support plays an important role in accomplishing those dreams. The Schaeffler India HOPE Engineering Scholarship 2019-20 is aimed at helping promising youth especially young women pursue a career in the fields of science and engineering. It is our constant endeavor to be able to encourage underprivileged youth to enter and excel in these fields and become independent. We believe everyone deserves the chance to pursue their dream, and Schaeffler India is committed to making that happen. The selected candidates will be supported with their engineering education expenses every year till the time they graduate successfully from college. We intend to stay engaged with these students during their study period through mentorship, study tour, counselling. However, their career decision is entirely their choice.”

Mr. Ghoshal further added, “We have to admit that the entire process of identifying and then selecting the candidates for this program has been an enriching experience for us as well. We are excited to see the journey of these students unfold and we wish them all the very best of luck for a bright and successful future.”

A total of 32 students have been selected from Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu for this program. Besides the HOPE Engineering Scholarship initiative, Schaeffler India also runs the Schaeffler Technical Enhancement Program in Pune and Hosur as well as other initiatives under the larger umbrella of its HOPE CSR program, to empower the underprivileged youth through education and skill development.
