VELAMMAL'S CHESS PRODIGIES HONOURED
Chess prodigies of Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus, Nikhil Magizhnan (Std IX) and Harshvardhan G.B. (Std XII) won Gold Medals in the boys (U-14) and (U-17) category respectively whereas Poorna Sri M.K. (Std XII) won Bronze Medal in the girls (U-17) at the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) Chess Championship 2018-19.
The remarkable performances of these players at the National level was honoured by Shri P. Benjamin, Minister for Rural Industries and Shri Ma-Foi-K Pandiarajan, Minister for Tamil Official Language and Tamil Culture.
Nikhil Magizhnan and Harshvardhan G.B. were awarded cash prizes of Rs.2 lacs each while Poorna Sri received Rs.1 lac recently.
