*The audio and trailer launch of Ponniyin Selvan 2 was held yesterday evening in Chennai. The occasion witnessed the entire team members of Ponniyin Selvan including the cast and crew comprising Chiyaan Vikram,  Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and many others. Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan and actor Silambarasan were present as well.*

Writer Jayamohan said.., 

"During the audio launch of Ponnyin Selvan part 1, I stated that the glory of Chola Dynasty will be recognised all over the world, and the film actually became a global success. I am glad to be experiencing the most fascinating success."

Actress Khushboo Sundar said..,

 "The beautiful female characters created by Mani Ratnam sir is phenomenal. I thank him for giving a great status to Tamil Cinema. Ponniyin Selvan 2 is going to be a huge success."

 "Maniratnam is a romantic person and he is such a jovial person. Till now my favourite movie of Mani is Nayagan because of my uncle Kamal Haasan playing the lead role. But now, Ponniyin Selvan has become my favourite movie." 

Minister Durai Murugan said.., 

"It's great to see that an epic work is materialized as a movie. When Subaskaran told me that he is going to make this movie, I was unsure if he can pull it off efficiently. Then as I narrated the story, he kept revealing the actors and their respective roles. Then when I asked him who is going to be the director, he told that Maniratnam is the one, which furthermore heightened my doubts. But today to see that he has made it astoundingly. My favourite character in the book is Vanthiya Thevan. Actor Karthi has done this role excellently. I wish the entire team for the grand success of this film."

Director Bharathiraja said.., 

"MGR said that he wanted to produce Ponniyin Selvan and asked me to direct the film with Kamal Haasan as Vanthiya Thevan and Sridevi as Kundavai. But the project didn't happen. I fe that i would have definitely committed a blunder in the making and I am in awe of Mani Ratnam that he has made a fabulous adaptation. Writer Kalki had left the character of Nandini incomplete in his book. I request Mani Ratnam to extend her character in his future work."

Costume Designer Ekha Lakani said.., 

"My whole crew and my team have been the pillar in getting my work easier. If I am able to stand before you all, it's all because of their support."

Anand Krishnamoorthy said.., 

"I was a child artiste in Mani Ratnam sir's Anjali and I am glad to be working with him in this big project."

Art Director Thota Tharani said.., 

" I thank Mani Ratnam sir for giving this opportunity for me. I thank the entire team and the crew for working with me."

Choreographer Brinda said.., 

"I thank my God Father Mani Ratnam for making me a part of this project. I thank AR Rahman sir for giving a brilliant music. The entire team has been excellent and completely supportive towards me. The entire team has worked so hard during the COVID times and they given their heart and soul into this project." Adding about the Choreography for the song Aga Naga in Ponniyin Selvan 2, she says, "It's not an easy thing to choreograph the songs composed by Rahman sir and the visualizing process of Mani sir." 

Actor Kamal Haasan said.., 

"I am so glad to be a part of this occasion and at the same time feeling little worried that I have missed the opportunity to be a part of this project. Somehow I have rendered a voice for this movie. Recently I told AR Rahman that we as good and dedicated and passionate people in the industry should work together. We have little time and I am not saying this as age factor, but for everyone. Mani Ratnam has created such an epic story and is sitting silently. Subaskaran has spent a whopping budget for the film and Mani Ratnam has created the project with so much magic. He has again made Aishwarya Rai look like world's beautiful woman. I personally appreciated Chiyaan Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi and others for their wonderful contribution. Ponniyin Selvan is not a golden period of Cholas but for the entire Tamil film industry as well. Just like our honorable Minister Durai Murugan said Ponniyin Selvan 2 is going to witness double success.  I congratulate the entire team for their lovely work. Vikram Gaekwad has worked with me from Maruthanayagam. I wish him speedy recovery and bounce back. Making such a movie isn't an easy deal. But Mani Ratnam, and the whole team has done a remarkable work. We need to celebrate Subaskaran for his gesture. " 

Mr. GKM Tamil Kumaran said.., 

"It's a honor to be making such a wonderful movie. I thank all the celebrities, actors and technicians for being a part of this occasion. Many stated that Ponnyin Selvan is not possible, but both Subaskaran sir and Maniratnam sir made it happen. Ponniyin Selvan 2 will be double the success."

Actor Sarath Kumar said.., 

"Mani Ratnam is the main reason I am here. While shooting for Vaanam Kottattum, Mani sir visited the sets for three times and I never knew the reason. But then I realised he visualized me as the Periya Pazhuvettarayar. While working with Mani sir, I was little nervous about his reaction. My first scene in PS1 was with Aishwarya and I was nervous again. He told me if I am not able to romance properly.  (Jokingly) He is asking someone who married twice. On a serious note, Mani Ratnam has done a tremendous work. It's been a wonderful experience working with the entire team."

Actor Parthiepan said.., 

"Kalki is the hero of this occasion. My respect to Mani Ratnam for his earnest dedication and contribution over making Ponniyin Selvan happen. Mani Ratnam is a wizard and has created a history in Tamil cinema. AR Rahman is the purest form of Love for his music has beautifully illustrated it."

Both Parthiepan and Sarath Kumar entertained the crowds with their hilarious conversations.

Music Director AR Rahman said..,

 "Mani sir has been giving me opportunities for past 31 years. He has been a great mentor, brother and good friend. I feel that everyone must appreciate him rather than asking when he will give comeback. I thank my whole team, musicians, sound engineers, singers, lyricists and orchestras. All the actors in the movie have done so much of extraordinary performance that it's unimaginable to see any other actor in their roles."

Actor Silambarasan said.., 

"I owe a lot to Mani Ratnam sir for being such a great inspiration. I am usually a night person and it's because of Mani sir I understood the importance and value of morning. Today if I am able to go for shoot early morning, it's because of Mani sir. AR Rahman sir has given a wonderful music. Everyone has done such a lovely work for this movie." When asked which role he would have desired to play in Ponniyin Selvan, he replied, "Any role that Mani sir would give me."

Actor Rahman said.., 

"This isn't looking like an audio function, but a success event. I am not as lucky as Sarath sir (Joking) as my only scene with Aishwarya mam was edited. It was such a humble and wonderful and experience working with you all. Rahman ji always makes good music. All the actors have done a beautiful job. I will miss the beautiful moments working with the entire team." 

Actor Vikran Prabhu said.., 

"This is an Indian Cinema that speaks about glory of Tamil cinema. Mani sir has made a film that is meant for generations."

Actor Joju George said.., 

"Mani sir is like an institution and we actors keep learning experience. I am so happy to be here. I wish the entire team a great success."

"I started my career as assistant director and worked with Fazil sir. From that time, I wanted to become someone like Mani Ratham sir. Later when I became an actor, I wanted to act in his movie. He has set up a wonderful world in Ponniyin Selvan 2 especially in climax."

"I was emotionally moved to see the aged people even with the oxygen aid support coming to the theaters to watch this movie. I am so grateful to the whole audiences for making the first part successful. Mani sir has made the impossible possible now. He is a man of confidence and has made the long run dream come true. AR Rahman sir is an inspiring man. Its been a great experience working with him. Kenny Anna is vera level. He is such a hard working person and his dedication level is huge. Karthi has been an immense support. Before the release of Ponniyin Selvan 1 I told Trisha that she is going to scale great heights after the film's release. I go speechless when I see Aishwarya mam. Aishwarya Lekshmi has done a lovely job for this movie. Subaskaran sir has created a history. I wish him great success in all his movies."

Actor Karthi said.., 

"My journey started with the blessings of Mani Ratnam sir. I am so glad that PS 1 has made remarkable history with this film. Mani sir made it happy and I am really proud to be a part of it. When Mani sir called me for this project, I was shooting for Kaithi. Before reaching Mani sir's office, I envisaged lots of reference. ( He performed the soliloquy of Sivaji Ganesan sir movie). But when I went to shooting spot, I was really into a big task of replicating exactly what he said.  Rahman sir music has been the tonic for my life in many occasions.  Before few years, we attempted something unique but it didn't happen and now Mani sir has opened the gateway and we will soon start making more movies of this paradigm. The mammoth efforts of Chiyaan Vikram sir is inspiring. Jayam Ravi has been the biggest support during the shoot. I thank you all for the support."

Actress Trisha said.., 

"There were lots of things running over my mind before coming here, but my mind is blocked as I am standing here. After the release of Ponniyin Selvan 1 release, I used to get many girls, women and even new born babies dressed up as Kundavai. I owe a lot to them and as the dialogue goes 'Eppovume Uyir Ungalodayadhu' Thaan."

Actress Aishwarya Lekshmi said.., 

"I might have come inside as a selfish actor, but I am so glad that I have seen a great success. The power of Good Cinema comes with nativity and they become Pan-Indian element. Lyricist Ilango Krishnan said..,

 "I thank AR Rahman sir and Maniratnam sir for giving a space to write pure Tamil songs. Mani sir was so keen that we all might not get a chance to write such songs. We always conversed and wanted to make sure of using different style of Tamil. We have borrowed the gramatical essence.."

Actor Chiyaan Vikram said..,

 "Just like how Adita Karikalan cannot forget Nandini, I cannot forget Adita Karikalan. I thank all the audiences for taking this movie to the next level.  The movie posed lots of challenges and odds that had to be tackled. My character is very intriguing and I felt every impressive. Not just me, but everyone in the team rendered an excellent work. I am now a big fan of PS 2 songs and I thank Rahman sir for wonderful songs like Aga Naga. Actor Karthi is such a gem and Jayam Ravi is an adorable actor. I am so glad to be working with Mani Ratnam sir in four movies. Suhasini Maniratnam has been a lovely support.  My co-stars have been been awesome. I didn't have more combination scenes with Jayam Ravi and Karthi, and it would have been great if it had happened. Trisha and I have appeared in different dimension in this movie. Aishwarya has been a tremendous person. Both of us share a good bonding both onscreen and off screen. Subaskaran sir is such an inspiring person, and I am so happy to be working with him."

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan said..,

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan surprised the crowds by speaking in pure Tamil. She said, "I thank the audience for making our film successful. I will forever remain as a student of Mani Ratnam student. Nandini is such an amazing character. I thank Mr. Subaskaran sir for making this film happen. Thank you Rahman sir for enthralling us with wonderful music. I thank the entire team of actors, technicians, costumes, jewelry team and everyone for making this film look so beautiful. It's always been a pleasure working with Vikram. Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Parthiepan sir, Sarath Kumar sir and everyone in the cast for the hard work.
