CLE National Export Excellence Awards 2019

CLE National Export Excellence Awards 2019

Tata International, the global trading arm of the Tata group and one of India’s leading exporters of Leather and leather products, won major awards at the CLE National Export Excellence Awards 2019 for the year 2018-19. The CLE organized these awards at The Hotel Leela Palace in New Delhi in the presence of Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road, Transport and Highways & Micro, small and Medium Enterprises, Govt. of India with Shri Som Parkash, Hon’ble Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India.


Mr. V Muthukumaran, Head of Leather Products was present at the event to receive the award for the 3rd place in Overall Exports - Leather & Leather Products including Non- Leather Footwear followed by 2nd place in Leather Footwear category (Above Rs. 300 Crores). Tata International also bagged the 1st place in the Finished Leather Category (Above Rs. 100 Crores & Upto Rs. 200 Crores) which was received by Mr. Ashish Jha, Head Finished Leather Operations, Tata International.


Commenting on the occasion, Mr. V Muthukumaran, Head of Leather Products, Tata International Limited said, “It is gratifying to receive an award for the hard work and effort put in by the team at Tata International. I would like to congratulate the team for their dedication and sincerity in meeting the business objectives. Indian Shoe Federation appoints Mr. V Muthukumaran as President

 Indian Shoe Federation appoints Mr. V Muthukumaran, Global Business Head, Leather Products, TATA International Limited as President at their recently concluded AGM in Chennai. Mr. V Muthukumaran takes charge as President from Mr. KR Vijayan for the term 2019 – 2021.

Mr. V Muthukumaran previously held the role of Vice President during the elections for the term 2017-2019.

Commenting on the appointment, Mr. V. Muthukumaran, Global Business Head, Leather Products, TATA International Limited said, “I am extremely excited to take on the new role with Indian Shoe Federation and it gives me an opportunity to shape the future of the Indian Footwear Industry.”

He further added, “India’s export of Footwear in FY19 was a meagre US$ 2.36 billion as compared to China and all efforts should be made to raise our exports to the tune of US$ 10 billion in the next few years. With a large work-force available in our country, we must be able to improve our manufacturing by ensuring that we have the right components and we continue to improve the productivity.

He stated that as capacities are full in China and Vietnam, the opportunity is available to India. He went on to caution a solution must be found for optimizing cost of manufacturing and that the Indian Shoe Federation must charter a growth plan to take the industry to the next level.
