Vijay Devarakonda’s much-anticipated film Kingdom is all set to hit theatres worldwide on July 31, 2025. In celebration of this milestone, the actor visited Chennai to interact with the Tamil press and media fraternity, sharing his experiences working on the film.

Kingdom, directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, has already grabbed headlines with its powerful trailer and Anirudh Ravichander’s dynamic musical score. The film, a high-octane emotional action drama, is jointly produced by Naga Vamsi S and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas, and presented by Srikara Studios.

Speaking at the event, Vijay Devarakonda said: “I thank the people of Tamil Nadu for the love and support they’ve shown me throughout my journey. Today is a special day as Kingdom is releasing on July 31, and I’m thrilled to share this moment with you all.

When director Gowtham Tinnanuri narrated the script, he reminded me of how well his previous film Jersey was received in Tamil Nadu. Right from the beginning, we knew Kingdom needed to be made for both Telugu and Tamil audiences. The story is deeply rooted in the coastal regions of Andhra and Tamil Nadu and later extends to Sri Lanka,  regions that share similar cultures and emotions.

The film blends strong emotions with action, reminiscent of classic Rajinikanth sir’s movies. Though we are promoting the film across Andhra and Telangana, Chennai is the only place I’m personally stepping out to promote outside Telugu states,  that’s how special you all are to me.

I also want to thank Suriya Anna for his heartfelt gesture. I hesitated to ask him, saying, ‘I want to ask you something… but feel free to say no.’ But he graciously lent his powerful voice to the teaser, which elevated Kingdom’s impact even before its release.

Anirudh has poured his heart and soul into the film’s music. He performed at our pre-release event just yesterday, and today he’s already in Chennai, fine-tuning the final copy of Kingdom to be sent overseas. I keep saying, if I could, I would kidnap Anirudh and keep him with me always!

When Anirudh praised just 40 minutes of the film, the audience immediately embraced it. People may not trust my words fully, but they do trust Anirudh. That’s the power he holds.

Our cinematography is also something to watch for  Girish Gangadharan handled 40% of the film before moving on to Coolie, and the remaining was shot by Jomon.

I’ve given my best to this role,  I even shaved my head for a particular transformation. I play a constable in the early part of the story and go through a drastic evolution. I hope to take on a full-length cop role someday.

Every time I visit Chennai, the press and media treat me like family. I deeply value these interactions, they’ve always been genuine and warm.”

After the event, Vijay Devarakonda spent time clicking photos and sharing light moments with members of the press and media fraternity, showing his gratitude for their support.

Kingdom, an intense blend of action and emotion, hits screens worldwide July 31, 2025. The film is backed by a stellar crew and promises a gripping theatrical experience in both Tamil and Telugu.
