 Chennai Gears Up for CTMA’s Grand Aavanippuvarang 2025 Celebration on October 4 & 5



The Chennai Tamilnadu Malayali Association (CTMA) is all set to host its annual flagship cultural festival, Aavanippuvarang 2025, on October 4 (Saturday) and October 5 (Sunday) in Chennai. A vibrant fusion of Tamil and Malayali traditions, the two-day celebration promises a spectacular showcase of unity, heritage, and community spirit.


Day 1 Highlights – Saturday, October 4


The festivities will begin with a Floral Design Competition and a Poets’ Meet at Kerala Samajam, Chennai. The official inauguration ceremony will take place at 3:30 PM, graced by esteemed dignitaries M.P. Purushothaman, Gokulam Gopalan, and V.C. Praveen.


Cultural programs will feature:

Traditional Tug of War

Chenda Melam performance by Villivakkam Malayali Samajam

Group dance performances under the Pravasiyam initiative

Special guest appearance by actor Arya

A Musical Night headlined by popular singers Siddharth Menon and Anju Joseph, accompanied by the Madras Mail band


Day 2 Highlights – Sunday, October 5


The second day will begin with a grand Traditional Onam Feast, serving over 3,000 attendees. Cultural and musical celebrations continue with:

A majestic 101-Instrument Melam led by Vadhyakala Rathnam Devaraj Marar

A Cultural Parade followed by a Cultural Conference, inaugurated by Dr. Shashi Tharoor, MP, at 5:00 PM

A Grand Musical Concert by Vineeth Sreenivasan and team at 6:30 PM

CTMA will present its prestigious annual awards to individuals who have made exceptional contributions in their respective fields:

Dr. Sidhhan Memorial Drama Award – Sivaji Guruvayoor

K.V. Nair Social Service Award – M.K. Soman Mathew

D. Gopalan Nair Mental Health Award – D. Joe Kuriyakose

Melur Damodaran Poetry Award – Radha Devi

Balakrishnan Mangad Story Award – Ajith Kallan

Special Recognition – A.M. Krishnan, noted entrepreneur and member of the CUSAT Academic Council


Community Initiatives


In a heartwarming gesture, CTMA will hand over a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to Mubeena, a young woman affected by the Wayanad landslide tragedy, for a housing project.


Additionally, in celebration of World Entrepreneurs Day, CTMA’s BISACON Business Conclave will include donations to cultural centers in Thiruvananthapuram, underscoring the association’s commitment to socio-cultural development.


The event is meticulously organized by a passionate team led by P. Nandakumar (General Convener), with K.P. Radeesh, Saji Varghese, and Rajini Manohar serving as co-conveners.
