Tamil cinema continues to witness an exciting shift in audience preferences, with 2026 delivering a string of content-driven successes that have connected strongly with viewers. Films such as ‘Thaai Kizhavi’, ‘Blast’ and ‘Youth’, among several others, have proved that audiences continue to embrace stories that offer something fresh and connect through their content. For Mythri Movie Makers, a banner that has moved seamlessly between large-scale pan-Indian blockbusters and rooted family entertainers, this evolving landscape makes the release of ‘Modha Rathiri’particularly exciting.

With their big-budget Ravi Teja starrer ‘Irumudi Kattu’ hitting screens today, the producers are simultaneously looking forward to the worldwide release of Modha Rathiri tomorrow (August 21), marking another distinctive addition to their Tamil slate. Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar, the film introduces Raja Karuppasamy as a director and features Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar in the lead.

Producers Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar say: “Tamil audiences have always had a wonderful appetite for good cinema, and what has been particularly exciting in 2026 is the way content-driven films have found such strong acceptance. Films like ‘Thaai Kizhavi’, ‘Blast’ and ‘Youth’ have shown that when a story connects with people, audiences will wholeheartedly support it. As a production house, we have always believed in presenting diverse kinds of cinema,  from large-scale pan-Indian blockbusters to films rooted in family, emotions and strong storytelling. ‘Modha Rathiri’ comes from that very belief.”

“We are extremely happy to see ‘Modha Rathiri’ reaching audiences tomorrow. Rishikanth and Anishma have delivered performances with tremendous sincerity, while the entire ensemble has contributed wonderfully to the world of the film. Raja has impressed us with his clarity, craftsmanship and understanding of storytelling. From the way he handled the characters to his execution on set, he displayed remarkable maturity for a first-time director and completed the project with great discipline and within the planned schedule. We are proud to have backed his vision and are confident that audiences will enjoy what the entire team has created.”

The producers also express their appreciation for the film's complete creative and technical team, whose collective effort has shaped Modha Rathiri into a rooted family entertainer. Bharath Sankar has composed the music, with Surendran Paranjothi handling cinematography and Ashok Arjunan serving as editor. Poornima Ramaswamy is the Costume Designer and A. Balumahendra is the Art Director.

The film features Rishikanth, Anishma Anilkumar, Chetan, A. Venkatesh, Bagavathi Perumal, Abdool Lee, Shelly Kishore, Sangeetha Balan, Banupriya, Sumithra Devi L., Varshini Karmegham, Karthikeyan, Velan and Kowshik Kabilan, among others.

For Mythri Movie Makers, Modha Rathiri represents yet another opportunity to bring a fresh voice and a new combination of talent to Tamil cinema. With Raja Karuppasamy's directorial debut, a promising lead pair and a strong ensemble coming together, the film is all set to meet audiences worldwide in theatres tomorrow, August 21, 2026.
