Ilaiyaraaja’s Music Travels With the Caravan Across Tamil Nadu Ahead of the September 25 Worldwide Release

The promotions for Karthik Subbaraj’s much-awaited Dorothy have taken an exciting turn with a special Lorry Road Trip flagging off from Madurai, bringing the world of the film—and the music of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja—directly to audiences across Tamil Nadu.

For over four and a half decades, the sound of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s music has travelled faster than light, crossing generations, geographies and languages. Now, that music is travelling with Dorothy as the film’s specially designed caravan makes its way across Tamil Nadu.

Inspired by an integral element of Dorothy, the caravan is not merely part of the film’s promotional campaign; it carries the soundscape of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s Original Score along with it. As it journeys through towns and cities, Ilaiyaraaja’s music will travel with Dorothy, creating a moving cinematic experience for audiences even before the film reaches theatres.

The road trip was flagged off in Madurai with Rishikanth, one of the film’s lead actors, riding the lorry that forms an important part of the film’s world. The journey will travel through Madurai, Theni and Dindigul today, before moving towards Pollachi and Coimbatore tomorrow, taking the spirit of Dorothy directly to audiences across these locations.

From Madurai, the caravan will travel to Theni, the birthplace of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, before proceeding to Dindigul, where portions of Dorothy were filmed. The route therefore adds special significance to the promotional journey, connecting the film’s world, its shooting locations and the music of the legendary composer.

With Ilaiyaraaja’s Original Score accompanying the journey, the Dorothy caravan becomes more than a promotional vehicle—it becomes a moving soundtrack for the film’s journey towards its worldwide theatrical release.

Since its announcement and launch, Dorothy has steadily generated considerable interest, further strengthened by its journey across international film festivals and screenings. The recently released trailer has amplified the anticipation, offering audiences a glimpse into the distinctive world created by Karthik Subbaraj.

The film stars Keerthy Suresh, Sananth and Rishikanth in the lead roles, with Muthukumar also part of the cast.
