At a time when family films in theatres are rare, Mission Santa brings back the joy of watching a film together on the big screen, just in time for the Christmas holidays.

Pride of Karnataka: A Landmark for Indian Animation

Mission Santa stands out as a proud milestone for Karnataka and Indian animation. The film is made fully by Indian animators, showcasing the world-class capabilities of talent from the state and the country.

While the story, script, and character designs originate from Los Angeles, developed by Curiosity Ink Media, the entire animation work from start to finish has been executed in India by Indian Animation artists, supervised by senior Indian Animation Leads. The film is co- produced with Toon2Tango of Germany, with post-production by Mark13 in Germany and Cosmic Dino in Australia, reinforcing Karnataka’s position as a global animation powerhouse through international collaboration.

This makes Mission Santa not just an international-quality film, but a true “Pride of Karnataka” animation feature, created by Indian hands for audiences worldwide.

*A Bold Vision - Global Stories, Indian Animation*

While India has thousands of Animation Institutes of Animators, there is a big Industry secret - Indians are second class citizens in the world of global animation. Lets explain! While Indian studios have long been serving Disney, Dreamworks, Technicolor and other global studios as “back- end” artists, they rarely get the same stakes as the teams working in Los Angeles or Paris for the work. Their Indian subsidiaries got paid a fixed budget as work for hire, with revenues rarely linked to the success or failure of the film. Its like working as a construction worker in building the Taj Mahal - while you can feel the pride of being a part of the Taj, it never really belongs to you.

These subsidiaries did not also have creative say in how the film should look. Indian artists were used, and many times thrown, albeit sadly, like in the case of Technicolor’s shutdown which abruptly threw 2000 Indian artists out of jobs without their salaries and dues paid. While the American and French artists working for the same company were safe, Indian artists were left on the streets. Thus, Indian artists have long held a second class citizenship in the world of Animated Film making - good as workers, not as leaders. While the older generation of Animation artists were accepting of such lopsided realities, the new generation of Animation Leaders and Artists do not want to work as second class talent. They know they have it in them, and want to showcase themselves to the world. Broadvision India, and its animated subsidiary Studio56, boldly embody such new generation of Indian Animation - proud in their heritage, deep in their talent, and not afraid to take risks. With its Animation Production arm Studio56, Broadvision is directly taking the risk as a Producer in global animated films, working end to end from conception to final release in theaters, while also assembling the skillsets needed for such global releases.

While Mission Santa is an international-scale production, it carries deep Indian creative roots, reflecting the growing maturity and confidence of India’s animation ecosystem. Over 150 high- level animation artists of Studio56 Animation — one of the top global theatrical animation production houses, proudly from Karnataka, India — worked on Mission Santa for 20 months from Bengaluru, collaborating directly with equal international partners on a daily basis. This rare synergy highlights Karnataka’s growing stature as a global hub for premium animation filmmaking. Mission Santa’s core team includes several Kannadiga talents, including Animation Director Mr. Harish Krishnamurthy, Layout Director Mr. Ashwin Narayanan, Compositing Director Mr. C Karthikeyan, and long-term Bangalorians Production Head Mr. Roshan Ingole, FX Director Mr. Manraj Singh, Lighting Director Mr. Kunal Deep, and Head of Overall Look Mr. Akhil Magotra.

Speaking about the film’s significance, Ms. Gauri Sriram, Producer & Managing Director of Broadvision India, said:

“This movie is a landmark in the history of Indian animation and is the pride of Karnataka. Broadvision has been a highly successful global animation producer from India with over 44 productions and 8 international awards, and Mission Santa brings Disney-level storytelling this Christmas to Indian families who need a good time out with their kids.”

This balance makes Mission Santa especially appealing to Karnataka audiences, who have long embraced global stories told with heart and craftsmanship.
