*Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, Founder-Chancellor of Vels University and Chairman of VELS Group, and acclaimed actor-producer Mrs. Sripriya Rajkumar have jointly acquired the Chennai franchise of the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), The team has been officially named "VELS Chennai Kings"*

The Celebrity Cricket League (CCL), a grand sporting extravaganza that brings together India’s two greatest passions - cinema and cricket has been successfully running with eight teams representing major cities across the country. These teams are owned by prominent film personalities. 

Joining this distinguished league, the Chennai team has now been acquired by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh and Mrs. Sripriya Rajkumar, and will compete under the banner VELS Chennai Kings. 

The development of Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, President of the Tamil Nadu Olympic Association and a prolific film producer through Vels Film International, jointly acquiring the Chennai team of the Celebrity Cricket League along with Mrs. Sripriya Rajkumar is particularly significant as it seamlessly brings together his active roles in both the sports and film industries.

The team was formally unveiled at a grand launch event held in Chennai this evening. At the event, actor Sarathkumar was announced as the Mentor, actress Meena as the Brand Ambassador, and actor Arya as the Captain of VELS Chennai Kings. Several prominent film personalities are also part of the team.

A visionary educationist and entrepreneur, Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh has transformed the VELS Group into a diversified conglomerate with a strong presence in education, healthcare, media, entertainment, sports, and infrastructure.  The team’s co-owner, Mrs. Sripriya Rajkumar, is a renowned actor-producer known for her multifaceted contributions across acting, film production, direction, social service, and politics. 

Several prominent personalities attended the grand launch event of the Vels Chennai Kings team held today in Chennai. Among them were Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, Founder Chancellor of Vels University and Chairman of the Vels Group; actress-producer Mrs. Sripriya Rajkumar; cricketers Lakshmipathiy Balaji and Murali Vijay; Vishnu Induri, founder of the Celebrity Cricket League; actor Sarathkumar; actress Radikaa Sarathkumar; actress Meena; Kushmita Ganesh, Vice President of Vels Group of Companies; Nagarjuna Sethupathi, son of the Sripriya Rajkumar–Rajkumar Sethupathi couple; Member of Parliament and Bhojpuri team captain Manoj Tiwari; Boney Kapoor and Raj Shah, owners of the Bengal team; Puneet Singh and Navraj Hans, owners of the Punjab team; Unni Mukundan, captain of the Kerala team; Sachin Joshi, captain of the Telugu team; and Thaman, leading player of the Telugu team and renowned music composer.
