DIRECTOR HEMANTH MADHUKAR REVEALS WHAT SPARKS R MADHAVAN AND ANUSHKA SHETTY’S ONSCREEN CHEMISTRY IN NISHABDHAM

There is a stir of anticipation amongst fans and viewers to watch R Madhavan and Anushka Shetty together after a long time. The duo, last seen in the 2006 Tamil title Rendu, will be seen as an on-screen couple after 14 years in the eagerly awaited Telugu-Tamil thriller Nishabdham on Amazon Prime Video. In a candid chat, Director Hemanth Madhukar revealed how Anushka and Madhavan’s reunion in the film is an added bonus for viewers as they immerse into the upcoming thriller.

He shares, “Initially, I didn’t know that they have done one film earlier and had been knowing each other for 14 years now. But when I saw Anushka’s excitement to essay the character of a mute girl and Madhavan’s curiosity to play a musician, I was quite contended. One is handsome and the other one is cute, together they are versatile actors which sparked their chemistry on the screen. When we usually work with actors who haven’t worked together before it becomes a challenge to direct them. However, with Anushka and Madhavan it came naturally and their chemistry was even more amazing than what I expected.”

Revealing more about the lead character’s casting, Hemanth mentioned that Producer Kona Venkat finalized Anushka for Sakshi’s character in the film during their recent flight journey. He said, “Initially, I had someone else in my mind of for Sakshi’s character. However, Kona Venkat met Anushka during his flight journey and was quite convinced that there couldn’t be a better choice than her to essay the character. We were glad to reunite Anushka and Madhavan again and create this enthralling masterpiece.”

Nishabdham is a story of Sakshi, a talented artist who is deaf and mute, who gets entangled in a criminal investigation when she unexpectedly witnesses a tragic incident that occurs in a villa with a reputation for being haunted. With a team of police detectives determined to get to the bottom of the case and the list of suspects ranging from a ghost to a missing young girl, Nishabdham promises to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller that will keep the audience guessing until the very end.

Directed by Hemanth Madhukar Nishabdham is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and stars some brilliant actors including Anushka Shetty, R Madhavan and Anjali in the lead roles. The film marks American actor Michael Madsen making his Indian film debut and also stars Shalini Pandey, Subbaraju and Srinivas Avasarala in other pivotal roles.

இவரை சந்தித்து கொரோனா சூழலில் தமிழ் திரை உலகில் அறிமுகமாவது குறித்து கேட்டபோது,'' தமிழ் திரை உலகில் நடிகனாக வேண்டும் என்பது என்னுடைய பால்ய காலத்து கனவு. பள்ளிக்கு செல்லும் காலகட்டத்தில் பள்ளிகளுக்கிடையே  நடைபெறும் ஆண்டு விழாவில் கலந்துகொண்டு வெற்றி பெற்று பரிசுகளை வாங்கியிருக்கிறேன். யாரையும் எளிதில் கவர்ந்து விடும் தோற்றப்பொலிவு இருந்ததால், என்னுடைய நண்பர்களும், உறவினர்களும்,' உன்னால் திரைத்துறையில் சாதிக்க இயலும். செங்கல்பட்டில் பிறந்த நீ சாதனையாளராக உயர்வாய்' என்று உற்சாகப்படுத்திக் கொண்டே இருப்பார்கள். இத்தகைய உந்துதலால் நான் தொடர்ச்சியாக திரைப்படங்களை பார்ப்பதும், நடிப்பில் என்னை மெருகேற்றிக் கொள்வதையும் பயிற்சியாகவே மேற்கொண்டேன்.
இந்நிலையில் இயக்குனர் சுப்பு சுப்பிரமணியன் என்பவர் என்னைச் சந்தித்து 'குழந்தை ' என்ற குறும்படத்தின் கதையை கூறி, கதையின் நாயகனாக நடிக்க வேண்டும் என கேட்டுக் கொண்டார். கதையைக் கேட்டபிறகு நடிக்க ஒப்புக் கொண்டேன். தென்காசி மற்றும் அதன் சுற்றுப்புறங்களில் இதன் படப்பிடிப்பு நடைபெற்றது. குறும்படத்தில் நடிக்கும் பொழுது நடிப்புத் தொடர்பான வெவ்வேறு நுட்பமான விஷயங்களைப் புரிந்து கொண்டேன்.

நேர்மையாகவும், கடினமாகவும் உழைத்தால் வெற்றி பெறலாம் என்ற விஷயத்தையும் உணர்ந்துகொண்டேன். இந்த குறும்படத்தின் மூலம் திரை உலகில் ஏராளமான தொடர்புகளும் கிடைத்தது. இதன் காரணமாக நான்கு குறும்படங்களில் நடித்து வருகிறேன். விரைவில் ஒளிபரப்பாக இருக்கும் தொலைக்காட்சித் தொடர்களிலும் முக்கியமான கதாபாத்திரத்தில் நடித்து இருக்கிறேன். தொடர்ந்து திரை உலகில் முயற்சி செய்து கொண்டிருந்தபோது என்னுடைய பெற்றோர் திருமணம் குறித்து முடிவு என்ன ? என கேட்ட போது, திரை உலகில் சாதித்த பிறகே திருமணம் என்று வாக்குறுதி அளித்தேன். தற்போது அவர்கள் அனைவரும் என்னுடைய வெற்றிக்காக பிரார்த்தனை செய்து கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.

 The Nature Conservancy - India’s latest report unveils pathways for Renewable Energy Projects to avoid cost over-runs, prevent delays, and reduce socio-ecological risks

• A new decision support tool for nature and community-friendly location of new renewable energy projects could come in handy for policy makers and developers to meet India’s ambitious targets
• India takes the lead in the run-up to New York Climate Week 2020 dialogue

Appropriately locating Renewable Energy projects is essential for India to meet its ambitious renewable energy goals without compromising on its environment commitments or delaying the RE projects. By identifying renewable energy development zones pro-actively, state governments could help meet India’s ambitious renewable energy at scale targets by avoiding conflicts and related delays and cost over-runs.

This, amid other suggestions, are made by a new paper titled Scaling up renewable energy deployment in India: Pathways to reduced socio-ecological risks, released by The Nature Conservancy – India during the New York Climate Week 2020.

The paper recommends that siting guidelines support developers in taking into account social and environmental considerations. The paper also outlines frameworks that should inform financing decisions regarding renewable energy projects through safeguards and due diligence processes.

A decision-support tool called SiteRight that helps decision-makers, investors and financiers to appropriately locate renewable energy projects without compromising on India’s ambitious goals, is also being launched at a webinar organized as part of the week. The tool — developed by The Nature Conservancy – India and partners, namely, Centre for Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP), Foundation for Ecological Security (FES) and Vasudha Foundation (VF) — enables policymakers, project developers, and financiers to make better choices in selecting land for siting solar and wind projects.

The webinar includes an impressive line-up of speakers: Steve Denning, Former Co-Chair of the Global Board of Directors, TNC and Satya Tripathi, UN Assistant Secretary-General, and Head of New York Office at UN Environment, Dr. Janmejaya Sinha, Chairman Asia-Pacific, Boston Consulting Group,  Julia Bucknall, Global Director, Environmental and Social Framework,  World Bank, Ms. Gauri Singh, Deputy Director General, International Renewable Energy Agency, Mr. Arijit Basu, MD, Commercial Clients Group, State Bank of India, Mr. Praveer Sinha, MD, Tata Power and Ms. Soma Banerjee, Executive Director – Economy and Energy & Infrastructure, CII.

Rapid expansion of renewable energy is critical to meeting India’s energy needs and addressing climate change. However, new solar and onshore wind energy projects cannot be poorly sited, for there could be unintended impacts on ecosystems and local communities. Such consequences can come in the way of further growth of renewable energy in the country.

“Our scientific analysis shows that India has the potential to develop ten times its 2022 target of 175 GW if we take steps today to guide the expansion of renewable energy to lower impact areas. Developing guidelines for project siting, identifying renewable energy zones, improving planning and procurement processes, and strengthening environmental and social performance standards of renewable energy financing, are some such steps,“ says Seema Paul, Managing Director, The Nature Conservancy – India.

The report shows that such measures can help in more informed land use decisions, thereby accelerating deployment of renewable energy in India while ensuring minimal impacts to rural communities and the country’s natural heritage.

 “Wide adoption of SiteRight tool would also support India to improve its carbon sequestration goals by avoiding areas with high reforestation potential; protect connectivity between important forests and natural lands, enabling wildlife movement; avoid conversion of forest and agriculture land important for people and nature; avoid impacts to socio-cultural values and livelihoods,” says Dhaval Negandhi, Ecological Economist and SiteRight Project Lead at The Nature Conservancy – India.

SiteRight is a free and publicly accessible geospatial decision-support tool developed for two states – Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. The use of the tool will support siting of new renewable energy projects in places with viable resource potential but away from land areas rich in biodiversity and on which local communities depend. Broad-based adoption of the tool would help India meet its renewable energy ambition faster by de-risking investments, reducing permission delays, avoiding conflicts with local communities and/or environmental stakeholders, while conserving important ecosystems and their services for people.

It’s important that during a space mission astronaut have reliable and anti-flammable lithium-ion batteries to assist them in maintaining spacecraft, their spacesuits and other technologies that keep the crew safe in high-stakes situations. Now, technologists are beginning to utilize these same batteries on Earth, too. 

Hospitals are most likely where you’ll encounter a battery that was first developed for out-of-this-world use. It’s important that during power outages, technologies such as robotic arms used in surgeries continue to operate without missing a beat.

The Indian healthcare industry started embracing surgical robotics during 2006 and witnessed a substantial increase in the number of surgical robots since its inception in India in 2009 thereby shaping up the domestic market for surgical robotics. With the covid-19 pandemic, the fear of crowded spaces and higher risk of infection due to prolonged stays in hospitals is making patients seek out robotic surgeries as an alternative to traditional open surgeries. Moreover, compared to traditional methods of surgery, robotic-assisted surgery have several benefits like speedy recovery, higher precision, less risk of infection, significantly less pain and minimal scarring.

 “During robotic surgery, it’s a problem when you have a power outage because the instruments are already inside the patient and they are doing the operation,” says IEEE member Mauricio Salles. “If they had a power outage exactly in that moment, that could be very dangerous because it could cut an unintended organ. That’s why it’s very important to have an option of higher reliability to the power system.” 

 This power system, which was used to operate robots remotely in space, can be used in hospitals in order to provide reliability to robotic surgeries that, in Brazil, have been performed for almost 20 years. These surgeries were primarily used in the treatment of heart diseases and chest, gastric system, urological and reproductive system procedures.

 High-density energy storage systems used in space exploration look like a small battery, only fatter and resemble today’s lithium-ion batteries. But Salles assures us that technologists are capable of developing these specialized batteries into any space or size needed to accomplish the mission.

“When you’re thinking about a solid-state battery that’s also going to be developed for space missions, they can have different forms and fit in exactly the size that you need with exactly the amount of energy that you need,” says Salles.

As technology evolves, Salles and other IEEE power and energy society members are hopeful that these batteries provide new opportunities to keep people safe in whatever application — in space or on Earth.

Continuing with its commitment to support the nation, IndiGo operated its maiden flight to Chittagong , Bangladesh on September 21, 2020. The 6E flight from Kolkata to Chittagong transported total of 9963 kg of CarGo i.e. 51.482 CBM which includes medical supplies, and other general commodities. The flight was operated while adhering to all the precautionary measures.

Mr. Ronojoy Dutta, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo said, “We are pleased to operate our maiden CarGo flight to Chittagong , Bangladesh, using our A-320 passenger aircraft in a ‘freighter mode’. Owing to the first flight, Chittagong was the 23^rd destination covered by IndiGo for its CarGo charter network. IndiGo has operated to multiple new destinations including Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, Cairo in Egypt, Almaty in Kazakhstan, Tashkent in Uzbekistan and Kathmandu in its CarGo network. Within the last 5 months, IndiGo has also transported CarGo equivalent to the loads carried in the last financial year, despite limited capacity.

The loan application process is simple and can be done online by just uploading bank statements, and IT Returns (financial statements for loans above INR 5Cr). The platform is enabled to auto-generate an e-offer letter if the lending criteria is met.

Enterprises with a turnover of up to INR 25Cr can receive in-principle approval for loans of up to INR 5Cr within 24 hours* subject to completion of the loan application and fulfilment of the lending criteria. Kiranas to benefit from digital upskilling while also augmenting an alternate source of income for themselves

 In preparation of the upcoming festive season and the Big Billion Days, Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, has expanded its Kirana program in Southern India with over 14,000 kiranas onboarded under this initiative from the region. This expansion is part of the over 50,000 kiranas that Flipkart has on boarded across the country to provide a faster and personalised e-commerce experience to millions of consumers while also augmenting an alternate source of income for the kiranas.

To help kiranas onboard and be active participants in the festive season, Flipkart’s team initiated contactless onboarding of kiranas through online application forms where kirana partners directly uploaded details along with required documentation. This enabled seamless onboarding without them having to step out during COVID19 times. Following a detailed verification check, the kirana partners were brought into the program before they can deliver shipments. The team has also organised digital training on various tools including app-based dashboards and digital payments, helping kiranas transform their business from traditional general trade stores to modern convenience stores.

The expansion of Flipkart’s kirana program across Southern cities such as Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Kochi, Gulbarga, Mysore, Alleppey and Kannur makes e-commerce more inclusive by connecting kiranas and consumers from the region to the country’s fast-growing digital commerce.
