World renowned Orthopedic Surgeon Dr.Alois Franz,
Germany visited Dr Mehta’s Hospitals, Velappanchavadi, Chennai today.
Dr.Alois Franz is the leading Orthopedic Surgeon and
designer of various knee implants and a patent holder of many implant designs
of Hip and Knee. He is a world renowned expert in Joint Replacement and Head of
the Department of Orthopedics at St. Marien Hospital Seigen, Germany - The
center with accreditation as Endoprosthetic center for maximum care. He has
performed more than 10000 Joint Replacement and Revision Surgeries.
Dr Alois Franz met the Orthopedic Surgeons and other
medical fraternities to share his knowledge and expertise on Total Knee
Replacement through a new dimensional approach. Around 45 Doctors participated
in this session.
Dr.Alois Franz has extended his gratitude to share
knowledge aimed at enabling enhanced care and providing better result in total
knee replacements. Dr Alois Franz will guide Dr Mehta’s Hospitals to establish
a Centre of Excellence in Knee and Hip Replacement and Revision Surgeries. He will
be visiting Dr Mehta’s Hospitals twice in a year to share his knowledge with
Orthopedic Community.

The Legacy
Dr. Mehta’s Hospitals was founded in
1933 in Sowcarpet by Dr.Anantrai J Mehta, who had a vision to setup an
institution that was open to all members of the Indian community that focused
on consumer safety, affordability and affection in a Pre-Independence era.
Joined by Dr.Savitha Ben Mehta, a Gynecologist trained by leading British and
Indian Gynecologists in 1940, they relocated and expanded this to a
Multi-specialty Surgical and Birthing unit in 1955 at Chetpet, Chennai. Their
children Dilip Mehta, Dr. Usha Shukla and their grand children Sameer Mehta and
Dr. Pranav Mehta continue the legacy today.
