Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology part time M.E, M.Tech degrees declared valid by JNTU

Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology part time M.E, M.Tech degrees declared valid by JNTU, Anantapur

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University, Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh has announced that the part time M.E, M.Tech Degrees earned from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai will be valid.

Earlier the University has held the part time Post Graduate Engineering degrees from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) invalid.
Students who pursued their Part time engineering degrees at Sathyabama from 2002 to 2012 have been working in various positions in Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University and as well as in Andhra Pradesh Government.

Following the announcement, 6 Assistant Professors working in Sri Kalahasti Institute of Technology who had obtained their degrees from Sathyabama had lost their jobs. The affected persons had filed a petition to the Tamilnadu Information Commission.

Acting on the filed petition, the Tamilnadu Information Commissioner,Mr Muthuraj, directed Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology to furnish documents to the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University, supporting the validity of the part time courses offered by the Institution. He also directed the registrar of the Institution to give the required explanation to the students within a period of two months and handle the situation smoothly.

The registrar of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, on submitting the required documents had requested Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University to pass an order declaring the part time M.E, M.Tech engineering degree run by Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology equivalent to the full time M.E, M.tech engineering degrees.

Accepting the request from Sathyabama, the Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University forwarded it to the standing committee. The Standing committee on scrutinizing the documents and listening to the explanation given by the authorities of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, reverted the earlier announcement and accepted that the degrees offered by Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology to be valid. Further JNTU certified that the part time Post graduate engineering degrees offered by Sathyabama are equivalent to the full time post graduate engineering degrees. In continuation of this announcement, JNTU has also recommended Sri Kalahasti Institute of Technology to reinstate the 6 Assistant professors who were terminated due to this issue.

The issue pertaining to all the students who pursued their part time post graduate engineering degrees at Sathyabama Institute of Science and
 Technology is resolved.

Sathyabama started its Day-1 Campus Recruitment’2020 with an outstanding performance from their students.  843 Offers have been made on the Day-1 as per the result announced on 18.09.19. 

Chancellor Dr. Mariazeena Johnson and President Dr. Marie Johnson,announced day-I placement result. 36 companies including Capgemini, Hyundai InMobis, Nuclei, Siemens, Informatica, ADP, and Sapient have visited under Product/Dream/Super Dream/Day-1 Category. 

There are 13 international offers also offered. Sathyabama witnessed lot of high paid job offers been offered to their students. The highest offered CTC is 18 LPA. Major number of students were hired by Cognizant (353) followed by Wipro (213).

There are many more of companies including HCL, Mindtree, HP, Oracle,  Hexaware and Mphasis have been lined up in this season. 

Number of companies visiting Sathyabama is increasing every year and this year also Sathyabama looking to attract 350+ recruiters.  Their recruiter base is very strong and the Placement Cell is very positive to maintain their consistent record of placing the students in various sectors.

28th CONVOCATION of SATHYABAMA INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
(DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY)

Sathyabama has entered in its 32nd year of inception and has completed 18 years  as Deemed to be University.  The Deemed to be University maintains high standard in teaching, training, and Research. The continuous efforts by all the stake holders, students, parents, Industry and Alumni is making Sathyabama to achieve greater heights, every year.  As result of this,  Sathyabama is ranked one among the top 50 Universities in India for 4 consecutive years, NIRF, Government of India.


Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology held its 28th Convocation on    28th July, 2019 at the Institution Auditorium, with the blessings of Founder Chancellor Hon. Colonel Dr.Jeppiaar. This Convocation was presided by Hon. Chancellor Dr. Mariazeena Johnson, and President Dr. Marie Johnson.


Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), was the Chief Guest for the occasion. He awarded the degrees to the graduands, appreciated the gold medalists by distributing the merit certificates, gold medals and delivered the convocation address. 

In his address, he emphasized upon various factors by which student upbringing is significant for societal development. He praised founder chancellor’s vision of the Institute and appreciated tremendous efforts continued by the President and Chancellor in taking the institution forward.


In this memorable ceremony, Shri. Madhavan Nair Rajeevan,Secretary, Ministry of Earth Science (MoES), Shri.R. Umamaheswaran, Outstanding Scientist & Scientific Secretary, ISRO,  Padma Shri S. Arunan, Director,Directorate of Special Projects, Mars Orbiter Mission ( MOM), ISRO, Shri. S. Unnikrishnan Nair, Director, Human Space Flight Programme, ISRO, were awarded the honorary doctorate for their valuable contribution for the progress of our society and thereby our nation.

A total of 3029 graduants received the Degree, i.e., year 2544 Undergraduates, 401 Postgraduates and 84 Undergraduates belong to department of Dental Surgery and 112 Ph.D scholars received their degrees. Among them 20 students are awarded with gold medals for their exemplary performance in academics. This year the Colonel       Dr. Jeppiaar Research Excellence award was received byDr. Tipole Pralhad Jaysingfrom School of Mechanical Engineering for his outstanding research accomplishments.

           
The Institute also celebrated its success with placement of 1563 (92.07 %) students from various disciplines of Engineering, Architecture, Dental, Management, Arts & Science in the academic year 2018-19 for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Every year an amount of Rs.50,00,000/- is sponsored  towards Dr. JEPPIAAR REMIBAI MERIT SCHOLARSHIP  for meritorious students. Outgoing excellence award was given to 64 students of various Departments. All the graduands were appreciated by the Management and Staff of the Institution.


On this occasion the academic report was presented by Dr.S.Sundar Manoharan, Vice Chancellor. Dr.T Sasipraba, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr.B.Sheela Rani, Director (Research), Dr.S.S.Rau, Registrar, Dr. Igni Sabasti Prabhu, Controller of Examination, Dr.E.Logashanmugam, Director-Administration, Dr.G.Sundari, Dean-Student Affairs were present in this convocation.

Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology celebrated “Sathyabama Excellence Day’2019” at their Institute premises. The ceremonial function was presided by Dr. Mariazeena Johnson- Chancellor and Dr. Marie Johnson- President, honoring and appreciating the achievers with accolades. The evening was graced by the chief guest Mr. Srinivasan, Vice President-BFS Cognizant who delivered a special address to the students. Over 91% of their final year students those who had opted for the campus recruitment have been placed so far, with students securing job offers from reputed companies spread across varied domains. As on date, 1138 offer have been rolled out. The 2019 batch students witnessed 267 recruiters (as on date) who participated in the campus recruitment program, offering coveted roles in IT, Product development, Logistics, Consulting, Finance, Operations, Sales & Marketing. Out of this, 63 companies were under Dream and Super Dream categories with the package of over 4.50 LPA. 186 offers under this category is a new high. Students were overwhelmed with the high package offers.



The highlights of the final placements for the batch of 2019:
  • The highest remuneration package offered is Rs. 18 lakhs per annum.
  • The average salary offered is Rs. 3.50 lakhs per annum.
  • Apart from the several legacy recruiters, there were new companies that offered coveted positions to the students. This helped students with various job options.
  • HCL Selected 100 students with the package of 4.75 LPA on a exclusive hiring for niche technologies. This is the highest numbers offered by HCL across all institutions in India.

The recruitments continue to happen in a strong way as there are many more companies lined up for the students yet to be placed.


The students from Sathyabama were well prepared to face the dynamic changing expectations of the corporate world. The students had also acquired a rich industry exposure through several internship/live projects with reputed companies like Amazon, Cognizant, Hexaware and others


The achievements of the present batch students created a big spark among their juniors and Sathyabama aims towards greater strides in the coming years not only in the Indian market but International too.
