V-Guard Announces Big Idea Business Plan

 V-Guard Announces Big Idea Business Plan & Tech Design  Contest Winners

Winners of the annual Big Idea Contests organised by V-Guard Industries Ltd were announced. This year’s Big Idea Business Plan and Big Idea Tech design contests finals were held on Dec 17th ,18th & 19th and witnessed more than 264 entries from top business schools and engineering colleges from across the country. IIM Nagpur won the first prize in Business Plan contest and Goa Institute of Management & IIM Visakhapatnam were declared first and second runner ups respectively in the contest from a total of (22) teams shortlisted for the grand finale. SCMHRD, Pune & Institute of Rural Management, Anand qualified for the special jury award.

Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam has bagged first prize in Big Idea Tech design contest. MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore and Saintgits College of Engineering, Kottayam were declared first & second runner up. 

This year’s competition themed ‘let’s bring home a better tomorrow with a healthier, hygienic world,’ was meant for the participants to present insightful and innovative ideas for business growth in alignment with the business strategy of V-Guard. The Business Plan contest winners were awarded cash prizes worth Rs. 2,00,000,  Rs. 1,00,000, Rs. 50,000 for the top three positions respectively along with trophies and certificates of appreciation. Big Idea tech winners received cash prize worth Rs.100,000, Rs. 50,000, Rs. 25,000 for the first three positions respectively. Two teams qualified for special jury in Business Plan contest and received prize worth Rs.25,000. Shortlisted teams presented their competitive ideas and plans in a virtual event held from 17th to 19th December 2020.

The five-member Jury Committee who chose the B-Plan winners was headed by Mr. Rajesh Nair, Business Leader, EY LLP, Kochi along with V. Ramachandran, Director & COO, V-Guard, Sudarshan Kasturi, Sr. Vice President & CFO, V-Guard, Ullas Kamath, Joint MD, Jyothi Laboratories Ltd and Independent Director, V-Guard and Mohammed Tanveer, Sr. General Manager, V-Guard. The ideas presented by the participants were judged on parameters such as ingenuity, practicality of application, feasibility, simplicity and the positive impact it can have on V-Guard’s business and its consumers.  Mr. Kochouseph Chittilappilly, Chairman Emeritus, & Mr Mithun Chittilappilly, Managing Director, V-Guard Industries Ltd.  graced the valedictory function and awarded the winners.

The jury who judged the tech design contest include Narender Singh Negi, Vice President- R&D, V-Guard, Mohammed Tanveer, Sr. General Manager, V-Guard, Prasad Sudhakar Teni, Sr. General Manager, V-Guard and James M Varghese,  General Manager- R&D, V-Guard.

The event has created a platform for interaction with top leaders of V-Guard, wherein the young minds can discuss and understand the business challenges to fine tune their thought process and foster a spirit of innovation in them.

V-Guard’s Net Profit for

V-Guard’s Net Profit for FY 2019-20 grows by 12%

India’s leading consumer electrical and electronics company, V-Guard Industries Ltd.announced its audited results for the quarter and year ended March 31, 2020.
Q4 FY 20 highlights:
·           Consolidated Net Revenue from operations for the Quarter ended March 31, 2020 was Rs. 541.14 crores; a decline of 27.45% over corresponding period of previous year (Rs.745.78 crores)

·           Consolidated Profit After Tax for the quarter ended March 31, 2020 was Rs. 32.23 crores; a decline of 47.45% over corresponding period of previous year (Rs.61.39 crores).

·           The nation-wide lockdown to combat the CoVid-19 pandemic had a collateral impact in terms of revenue loss and the attendant profit impact.

·       In view of interim dividend paid during the year under review, the Board has not   recommended any final dividend.
FY 20 highlights:
·           Consolidated Net Revenue from operations for the year ended March 31, 2020 was Rs.2,502.94 crores; a decline of 3.5% over previous year (Rs.2,594 crores)

·           Consolidated Profit After Tax for the year ended March 31, 2020 was Rs.188.25 crores; Increase of 12 % over the previous year (Rs.168 crores)

Business Outlook:

Commenting on the company’s performance, Mr. Mithun. K. Chittilappilly, Managing Director, V-Guard Industries Ltd said “FY 20 has been a very challenging year.  The macroeconomic slowdown during the first nine months presented a significant challenge, and this was compounded by the CoVid-19 pandemic in Q4.  We expect the effect of the pandemic to last for a few months, during which consumer demand for discretionary items will remain subdued.  However, the fundamentals of the business remain strong; we have significantly improved our gross margins and we continue to invest in innovation and business capabilities to achieve our long-term ambitions.  We see the current challenges to be a temporary phenomenon and our balance sheet is strong enough to withstand these headwinds.  We are confident that the business will bounce back strongly in the months to come”

V-Guard extends support towards fighting Covid-19 crisis

V-Guard Industries Limited, India’s leading consumer electricals major pledges support towards India’s fight against COVID-19. Reasserting its commitment and support towards society, V-Guard has donated various protective equipment to Dehradun Traffic Police at a function conducted in Maharana Pratap Stadium.


Rajiv Sharma, Branch Head, Dehradun on behalf of V-Guard Industries Limited handed over 8000 3-Ply Masks and 6000 Cotton Gloves to Prakash Chandra, Nodal Officer, Garhwal region & Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Dehradun.  Sanjay Gulati, State President, Uttarakhand Electrical Trade Association, Naresh Gupta, Secretary, Uttarakhand Electrical Trade Association and Sanjeev Tyagi, Sub Inspector, Dehradun were also present during the function.
Commenting on the initiatives, Sumit Jha, Sr.General Manager & Northern Regional Head,V-Guard Industries, said, “Given the uncertainty over the ongoing crisis, V-Guard Industries believes in helping and supporting the people and frontline warriors with a meaningful contribution. We are also providing masks to the migrant labourers in Dehradun. Our initiative is designed to help those in need and contribute to society, at this critical juncture in a positive way”.

V-Guard’s Profit After Tax for Q2 2019-20 increases by 54.4%

V-Guard Industries Limited, India’s leading consumer electrical and electronics company, announced the unaudited financial results for the quarter ended September 30, 2019.
Q2 FY 20 highlights:
   Consolidated Net Revenue from operations for the quarter ended September 30, 2019 was Rs. 623.27 crores; an increase of 3.1% over previous year (Rs.604.50 crores).

 Consolidated Profit Before Tax for the quarter ended September 30, 2019 was Rs.78.48 crores; Increase of 62.6% over the previous year (Rs.48.27 crores).

   Consolidated Profit After Tax for the quarter ended September 30, 2019 was Rs.58.75 crores; Increase of 54.4% over the previous year (Rs.38.04 crores).

    During the quarter, Stabilizer and electrical segment registered growth.  Overall, subdued consumer demand impacted top-line growth.

  Non-South markets contributed 37% of turnover for the quarter, up from 35.7% in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.

  Results for the quarter include a writeback of Rs.10.12 crores of ESOP provisions no longer required.

Innovation being the driving force in anything and everything the brand sets out to do. The V-Guard Big Idea B-Plan Contest was conceptualized with this very objective in mind. As a socially responsible brand committed to the cause of growth of the nation, it is our belief that the foundation of the strong and sustainable growth of the nation are its empowered youth who needs to be constantly encouraged. V-Guard Big Idea B-plan Contest is a stage that allows these extraordinary young minds to present their ideas that could transform the world.
The event has created a platform for interaction with top leaders of V-Guard, wherein the young minds can discuss and understand the business challenges to fine tune their thought process and foster a spirit of innovation in them.   
The theme for Big Idea B-plan Contest 2019 was 
“Transform the kitchen to bring home a better tomorrow”   

Participants were invited to breathe life into the theme with insightful ideas in alignment with the business strategy of V-Guard. The contest witnessed entries from Premier B-Schools all over India, where participants came-up with innovative ideas, elaborating on financial, marketing and operating plans for business growth. In all, 25 teams were shortlisted after a rigorous selection process. IMT, Ghaziabad won the contest while Goa Institute of Management and NMIMS, Mumbai were declared first and second runner up respectively for their creative and comprehensive business strategy plan for V-Guard Industries Ltd. IIM Raipur and Great Lakes Institutes of Management, Gurugram won z special jury award in the contest.
Teams presented their ideas during the grand finale held on 27th and 28th September 2019 at Radisson Blu, Cochin. A jury comprising of eminent professionals chose the winners. The five-member Jury Committee headed by Mr. Rajesh Nair (Operating Partner at Emerge Ventures PTE) along with Mr. Mithun Chittilappilly (Managing Director, V-Guard Industries Ltd.), Mr. V. Ramachandran (Director & COO, V-Guard Industries Ltd.), Mr. Sudarshan Kasturi (Sr. Vice President & CFO, V-Guard Industries ltd.), Mr. Mohammed Tanveer (Sr. GM -New Product Development, V-Guard Industries Ltd.). The ideas put forth were judged on parameters such as ingenuity, practicality of application, feasibility, simplicity and the positive impact it can have on V-Guard’s business and its consumers.
Mr. Kochouseph Chittilappilly, Chairman, V-Guard Industries Ltd. was the chief guest for the valedictory ceremony. The winners were awarded cash prizes worth Rs. 200,000, Rs. 100,000, Rs.50,000 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively along with trophies and certificates of appreciation. Two teams also received Special Jury awards worth Rs.25,000.

V-Guard’s Net Profit for Q1 2019-20 increases by 54%


 V-Guard Industries Limited, India’s leading consumer electrical and electronics company, announced the unaudited financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2019.
Q1 FY 20 highlights:
·           Consolidated Net Revenue from operations for the quarter ended June 30, 2019 was           Rs. 707 crores; an increase of 10% over previous year (Rs.642 crores).

·           Consolidated Profit After Tax for the quarter ended June 30, 2019 was Rs. 53 crores; Increase of 54% over the previous year (Rs.34.5 crores).

·           Electronics and Consumer Durables segments grew well during the quarter under review.

·           Adopted Ind AS 116 (Leases) from April 1, 2019.  The impact on Profit Before Tax is not material.

·           Non-South markets contributed 46% of Net Revenue for the quarter.

Business Outlook:

Commenting on the company’s performance, Mr. Mithun. K. Chittilappilly, Managing Director, V-Guard Industries Ltd said “During the quarter under review both Electronics and Consumer Durables segments performed well. Electricals Segment was impacted by trade destocking of wires category caused by downward trend in Copper prices. We are making satisfying progress with our new categories and new markets. We continue to invest towards enhancing organisational capabilities and improving our competitiveness in the market and expect to sustain the growth momentum in the coming quarters”.

V-Guard Big Idea Design and Tech Contest 2019


 Allu Sidhardha and Adithyaa DK of Ramaiah Institute of Technology won Rs. 1 lakh as prize money after winning “V-Guard Big Idea Design and Tech Contest 2019”. Engineering students across India took part in the contest whose theme was: 'How can V-Guard delight its consumers with thoughtful appliances that enable cooking to become an enjoyable chore, bringing home a better tomorrow.'

 The contest challenged the participants to develop ideas on smart and intelligent products that define modern kitchen spaces V-Guard's Big Idea Contest was conceptualized with an objective of Innovation being the driving force in anything and everything the brand sets out to do. The contest witnessed entries from engineering colleges all over India with amazing ideas pouring in, supported by protypes and great design diagrams.

 Participants were invited to breathe life into the theme with insightful ideas, fitting the strategy of V-Guard. And after a rigorous selection process, 13 teams have been shortlisted for the recommendation of a creative and comprehensive design and technology idea for the growth of V-Guard Industries.

A jury comprising of eminent professionals selected the winners after final presentation on 10th of June 2019. The five-member Jury Committee headed by Dr. George Sleeba (Executive Director- Kochouseph Chittilappilly Foundation) and comprise of Mr. Narender Singh Negi, Vice President - R&D (Electronics); Mr. Mohammed Tanveer, Sr. GM -New Product Development; Mr. James M Varghese, GM - R&D (Industrial Design); and Mr. Prasad Teni, Sr.GM - Home Appliances. The ideas put forth were judged on parameters such as ingenuity, practicality of application, feasibility, simplicity and the positive impact it can have on V-Guard's business, its consumers and the world in general.

Shri. Mithun Chittilappilly, MD, V-Guard Industries was the chief guest for the valedictory ceremony and Shr. V Ramachandran presided over the function. Winners were awarded cash prizes worth Rs. 1 lakh, Rs. 50 ,000, Rs. 25,000 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively along with trophies and certificates of appreciation.

V-Guard’s Net Profit for Q4 2018-19 increases by 115%



India’s leading consumer electrical and electronics company, V-Guard Industries Ltd., announced its audited results for the quarter and year ended March 31, 2019.
FY 19 highlights:
·         Consolidated Net Revenue from operations for the year ended March 31, 2019 was 2,594.44 crores; an increase of 11% over previous year (Rs.2,335.26 crores)

·         Consolidated Profit After Tax for the year ended March 31, 2019 was Rs.167.23 crores; Increase of 24.6 % over the previous year (Rs.134.26 crores)

Q4 FY 19 highlights:
·         Standalone Net Revenue from operations for the Quarter ended March 31, 2018 was Rs. 739.69 crores; an increase of 12% over corresponding period of previous year (Rs.658.61 crores)

·         Standalone Profit After Tax for the quarter ended March 31, 2019 was Rs. 59.24 crores; increase of 115% over corresponding period of previous year (Rs.27.58 crores).

The Board has recommended dividend of 80 paise (80%) per equity share for the financial year 2018-19.
Wires, Modular Switches & Switch gear and Kitchen appliances grew well during the last quarter of the Financial Year.  Modular Switches were launched in some of the non-south markets during the last quarter of the Financial Year; Air coolers were rolled out to more South and Non-South markets. 
Business Outlook:

Commenting on the company’s performance, Mr. Mithun. K. Chittilappilly, Managing Director, V-Guard Industries Ltd said “FY 19 was a challenging year due to commodity and currency volatility.  Despite these challenges, we were able to perform reasonably well.  In Q4, we were able to land some pricing actions to bring margins back on track.  We continue to make steady progress in the non-South markets.   Our emerging categories have done well.  We continue to invest towards enhancing organisational capabilities and improving our competitiveness in the market”
