VELAMMAL AND SURYAN FM JOINTLY HOST LIVE DIGITAL MUSICAL CONCERT

Considering the seriousness of COVID-19, that has shaken humanity across the globe, Velammal Vidyalaya, Chennai had teamed up with Suryan FM and now hosting Live Digital Musical concerts from April 19 to May 2. The two hour musical and vocal performance (7 p.m to 9 p.m) is aired with a cause 'Stop the spread, break the chain' to raise an awareness against the panademic threat.

Eminent musicians and celebrities like Karthik, Mahathi, Bombay Jayashree, Stephan Dhevassy, Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, Navin Flute and many more have performed and voiced their views requesting the listeners to heed to the precautionary measures undertaken to stop the spread of Corona in this digital platform. 

Many more performances are to be broadcast till May 2, 2020.
Velammal has contributed in a different way to engage the music lovers and to promote this awareness campaign for every Indian citizen to follow simple precautionary measures. This will certainly help one and all to stay unaffected and healthy.

‘Welcome Back Gandhi’ Song Release by Sri. V. Kalyanam, the only surviving Personal Secretary of Mahatma Gandhi

‘Ekla Chalo Re…..’ is a Bengali patriotic song written by Rabindranath Tagore in 1905.

Mahatma Gandhi was deeply influenced by the powerful words of the song (If no one responds to your call, then go your own way alone……). He cited it as one of his favourite songs. The song has been, time and again, used by several famous music composers like A.R.Rahman and Vishal-Shekhar and has been sung by many a famous singer like Kishore Kumar and also by Amitabh Bachchan for different patriotic projects. During freedom struggle, when Mahatma was on Noakhali Yatra in West Bengal, people welcomed him by singing this song.

The song is now incorporated in the film, ‘Welcome Back Gandhi’ (Hindi & English), produced by Ramana Communications, Chennai, whose earlier film  ‘KAMARAJ’ won ‘Special Film of the Year Award’ from Government of Tamil Nadu.

We felt that this song, in the voice of Vaikom Vijayalakshmi for our film ‘ Welcome Back Gandhi’, would be a fitting tribute to the Father of the Nation on his 150th Birth Anniversary. The background scenes for the song have already been picturised in various locations in different parts of India visited by Gandhi.   The picture is complete now.
