Mahindra launches the New BSIV Construction Equipment Range

Mahindra Construction Equipment (MCE) of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., part of the Mahindra Group, today introduced BSIV compliant construction equipment with the launch of the new BSIV compliant Motor Grader - Mahindra RoadMaster G9075 & G9595 & Backhoe Loader – and Mahindra EarthMaster SX, and VX. .

 Mahindra Appoints Pratap Bose to lead its new Global Design Organization

 

The Mahindra Group today announced the appointment of Pratap Bose as the Executive Vice President and Chief Design Officer to lead its newly formed Global Design organization. The new Global Design organization renews Mahindra’ commitment to re-shaping the future of mobility by designing and developing dynamically engineered next-generation authentic products with global appeal.

 

The Global Design organization will comprise of the recently announced Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (M.A.D.E), which is being set up in Coventry in the West Midlands, U.K and the existing Mahindra India Design Studio (M.I.D.S). The Global Design Organization will harness the world-class talent pool and expand its global technology footprint.

 

In this role, Pratap will be responsible for both M.A.D.E and M.I.D.S and will oversee design of all key business segments such as authentic SUVs including Born Electric Vehicle (BEV), LCV products (under <3.5 T), Last Mile Mobility (LMM), Large CVs, Peugeot Scooters (France) and Tractors & Farm Machines. Pratap will join on June 24, 2021 and will report to Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Auto and Farm Sectors, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd.

Pratap is alumnus of Royal College of Art, London and National Institute of Design, India. He brings with him over 20 years of rich global automotive design experience. His last assignment has been with Tata Motors in UK where he spent 14 years. Earlier he had worked in Piaggio, Italy and Daimler Chrysler, Japan.

Speaking about the announcement, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Auto and Farm Sectors, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., said, “We are at an inflection point in our Auto and Farm Sectors growth journey as we accelerate our transformative initiatives. Our robust pipeline of 23 new products that will be launched in the next five years would bring our design and advanced engineering capability across automotive, farm equipment and two wheelers to the fore. Having Pratap on the team will strengthen our design capability, enhance our products and widen our customer base. We are very excited to welcome him on board and look forward to writing a new chapter in Mahindra’s rich product legacy.”

 

The Global Design organization is a strategic initiative aimed at ensuring that products are future-ready and exceed expectations of customers across the world. To ensure world class creative output and program execution, dedicated verticals are being created in each studio location that will maximize and enhance creativity and ensure program delivery on schedule.      Farm Equipment Sector Revenue up 60% in Q4FY21 … with highest ever fourth quarter domestic volumes, PBIT and PBIT margins.

     Auto Sector Revenue up 43% in Q4FY21 … with a strong booking pipeline for its key products; however, supply constraints limit production and sales.

     Capital Allocation actions seeing results … Exceptional Items (EI) loss in Q4F21 reduces from Rs 3,578 crores to Rs 840 crores YoY

     Strong operating performance for Full Year FY21 … Consolidated Operating Profit up 36% at Rs 4,610 cr.

     Announces a dividend of 175% of face value (Rs 8.75 per share) for FY21, which is 3.7x F20 dividend. This is the highest ever in the history of M&M, in light of the strong financial performance and to commemorate the 75th year of the Company

Highlights of the financial results are:

-        Operating margin improved to 14.7% compared to 13.6% in the corresponding quarter previous year despite a significant strengthening in commodity prices.

-        Capital allocation actions resulted in a significant decline in Exceptional losses … from Rs (3,578) cr. in Q4FY20 to Rs (840) cr. in Q4FY21.

-        Operating Cash Generated for FY21 up 119% at Rs 10,022 cr… driven by improved profitability and robust working capital management.

Automotive

·         Overall demand remained robust for the Company’s products in Q4FY21. However, the global shortage of semi-conductors impacted the production & sales for the quarter.

·         Thar has crossed bookings of 55,000 vehicles since its launch

o   Tested to be India’s safest off-roader with a four-star rating.

o   It has won accolades from customers and nineteen awards.

·         XUV300 has also seen a strong demand with 90% growth in bookings in H2FY21 over H2FY20

·         Bolero, Scorpio had strong sales of over 10000 sales per month during Q4FY21

·         The Automotive Sector continued its focus on cost optimization and reduced its fixed expenses by over Rs 900 crores over the last two years & hence keeping its margin resilience even under challenging times.

Farm Equipment

·         Strong performance despite supply chain and commodity challenges:

o   Tractor volumes up 58% and revenue up 60%

o   PBIT for Q4FY21 at Rs 1095 crores – a growth of 100% yoy

o   PBIT margin for Q4F21 increased to 22.0% from 17.6% in Q4FY20

·         Subsidiaries of the Farm Equipment sector registered positive PBIT for the third consecutive quarter with a  turn around in its international operations

The Board of Directors of Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, an Indian multinational corporation, one of the largest vehicle manufacturers by production in India and the largest manufacturer of tractors in the world, announced that Dr. Anish Shah presently the Deputy Managing Director and Group Chief Financial Officer would take over as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective April 2, 2021.

 

This follows the top management succession announcement dated December 20, 2019. In November, when Mr. Anand Mahindra transitions to the role of Non-Executive Chairman, Dr. Anish Shah will become the first professional MD and CEO in the history of the Mahindra Group to have a complete oversight of and responsibility for the Mahindra Group businesses.

 

Dr. Pawan Goenka will retire as the MD and CEO, and Member of the Board of Directors of M&M Ltd effective April 2, 2021. In his role as the MD and CEO, he had an oversight of Automobile and Farm Equipment sectors. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director will take full charge of these sectors and will report to Dr. Shah.


 

Anand Mahindra, Chairman Mahindra Group, said, “On behalf of the Board, I salute the work accomplished by Pawan throughout his twenty-seven years career in the company, which has resulted in its strong growth. My gratitude to him for making the transition as smooth and seamless as possible throughout the last year.”

Dr. Anish Shah is currently the Deputy Managing Director and Group CFO for the Mahindra Group. He joined Mahindra in 2015 as the Group President -Strategy, where he led strategy development; built capabilities such as digitisation and data sciences; enabled synergies across Group companies and managed the Risk and performance review organisations. Prior to joining Mahindra, Anish was President and CEO of GE Capital India, where he led the transformation of the business, including a turnaround of its SBI Card joint venture. His career at GE spanned 14 years, during which he held several leadership positions at GE Capital’s US and global units. He also has diverse experience with global businesses beyond GE. He led Bank of America's US Debit Products business. He started his career with Citibank in Mumbai before moving to Boston with Bain & Company as a strategy consultant.

 

Anish received a Ph.D from Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business, a  Masters degree from Carnegie Mellon and a post-graduate diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), a part of the US $19.4 billion Mahindra Group, today announced the introduction of Petrol AutoSHIFT, its auto transmission technology, on the XUV300. The AutoSHIFT top variant, W8(O), will also be equipped with the all-new BlueSense Plus connected SUV technology. The Electric Sunroof will now be offered from its mid variant - (W6) onwards on both manual & autoSHIFT versions.

 

Veejay Nakra, CEO, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said: “The young Indian consumer doesn’t like to compromise and seeks technology-led convenience & experiences. Today, we launch our innovative auto transmission AutoSHIFT on petrol, which uses advanced technology to offer an effortless drive in city drive as well as on the highways. We also introduce today the BlueSense Plus, our connected SUV technology with 40+ features, that will seamlessly integrate the XUV300 into the always-connected world of today’s consumer.”

 




Mr. Nakra further added, “We are glad to introduce electric sunroof right from the mid-variants of the XUV300. As India’s safest and most feature-loaded SUV, the XUV300 has always strived to inspire consumers to think big about their aspirations and will continue to do so with future introductions.”

 

Keeping in line with the growing consumer preference for sunroof, the XUV300 will now offer electric sunroof on the mid-variants of both manual & AutoSHIFT variants. With a starting price of just ₹ 9.4 Lakh (Ex-showroom Petrol W6) the sunroof will now become accessible to a wider base of customers.

 

Along with these introductions, XUV300 range will also see introduction of new colours - Dual-tone Red and Dual-tone Aquamarine on all W8(O) AutoSHIFT variants and an all-new Galaxy Grey on its manual W6, W8 & W8(O) variants.

 

Bookings for the all-new Petrol AutoSHIFT are now open and deliveries will begin from mid-February onwards.
