 Amara Raja Group celebrates its 35th Foundation Day
in a Virtaul manner

·         Unveils India’s first pilot plant for research on lithium cell technology.

·         Announces rollback of Business Performance Linked pay deductions along with disbursements of all deductions done from June 2020

Marching towards progress and prosperity believing that the community, the people, and the environment are the foremost stakeholders, Amara Raja Group celebrated its 35th Foundation Day on 20th December 2020. The celebration was held virtually, nestled on the theme of “The New Way of Life” and was attended by Dr. Ramachandra N. Galla, Founder Chairman, Amara Raja Group, Mr. Jayadev Galla, Vice Chairman, Amara Raja Group, Senior leaders and employees across all locations.

On the occasion, Dr Dr. Ramachandra N. Galla, Founder Chairman unveiled “Advanced Lithium Technology Research Hub” by inaugurating the Pilot plant for Li cell manufacturing, first of its kind in the country established by a private corporate firm. The Foundation Day also witnessed the virtual launch of other new products of two other businesses of the Group viz. Mangal Industries Limited and Galla foods.   During the event, Jayadev Galla, Vice Chairman appreciated the unstinted support and efforts of all people across the Group during the pandemic and announced the rolling back of Business Performance Linked pay (BPLP) deductions. BPLP were salary deductions that were earlier effected to employees with salaries above five lakhs per annum, from June 2020 onwards and were to be returned to employees in next financial year subject to business performance. Jayadev Galla also announced that all the BPLP deductions which were effected from June 2020 to December 2020 will be paid back to employees in full, in the month of January 2021.  

Recalling the journey of the Group, Dr. Ramachandra N. Galla, Founder Chairman, Amara Raja Group said “The COVID-19 Pandemic has made 2020 an unusual year for us, but equally it has been a year of significant learnings. As part of the event, a short film made by employees on “The New Way of life’ was showcased applauding the duty-consciousness of all employees who were always on the ground during the lockdown period, like the field service staff, people on after sales service, other essential employees on the field, project sites, and at the plants, including maintenance and other personnel.

The virtual event acknowledged the contribution of employees and recognized them by announcing various annual awards for 2019- 2020, which included the Awards for excellence in performance under various categories and also recognising employees for 30 and 25 years of long service.  

Mr. Jayadev Galla, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Amara Raja Group said, “This year is different and unique from all other years, in many ways. Throughout the crisis, we were in close coordination with all our customers across all businesses to understand and support their critical needs for essential products and services. One amongst them was Amara Raja Group getting featured by Forbes in ‘World's Best Employers for 2020’ list and we are ranked 316 Globally. This the first time in our history that we get ranked on one of the world famous best employer recognitions. We are also very excited to have inaugurated the pilot plant facility for Li cell manufacturing which is a very important step in our effort to explore advanced and futuristic energy storage technologies. I am proud of our employees and applaud them for the resilience they have shown and continue to do so in this pandemic”

Amara Raja and Blaze set up a

Amara Raja and Blaze set up a Joint Venture to Manufacture IoT (Internet of Things) devices for the global market.
 Amara Raja Group and Blaze today announced that they have signed a Joint Venture agreement to set up Amara Raja Blaze Technologies Pvt. Ltd (ARBT). This JV will leverage their combined strengths and cumulative experience spanning over three decades to innovate, develop and manufacture IoT devices for the world market.

The Joint venture will be a Full-Service Provider of "Concept-to-Product" and will set up a Center of Excellence (COE) focusing on product Innovation and world-class Manufacturing services for IoT based devices. The COE will help its global customers every step of the way from proof of concept to the prototyping and mass manufacturing of new products related to Home/Building Automation, Intelligent Lighting, Enterprise Automation, Energy Management, Elderly care and Wearable devicesARBT's Faster and Better (FAB) Methodology ensures an unwavering focus on providing the highest quality of IoT devices at optimum costs. This JV’s objectives dovetail into our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. The JV will start delivering “Made in India” products to its customers as early as September 2020.

Amara Raja Group details the ‘New way of Life’
through their SOP document, as they resume partial Operations

Post the notifications issued by the Government of India and the Government of Andhra Pradesh, effective 20th April 2020, Amara Raja Group partially commenced its manufacturing operations. The Group has chalked out an action plan for running its partial operations with a detailed standard operating procedure (SOP) ensuring Social distancing, Hygiene and People safety.

The standard operating procedure (SOP) formulated by the Amara Raja Group emphasises on five critical aspects: Social distancing, Screening & Monitoring, Disinfection & Sanitization, Containment plan & Prevention and Awareness.

Looking forward to a new normal, the released SOP emphasizes on a new way of life that calls for radical behavioural changes on all aspects, including usage of transport, cafeteria, amenities, common areas, and inside the plant, offices and field locations.

Sharing details about partial recommencement of operations, Amara Raja Group Vice Chairman, Jay Galla said, “Post the notification issued by the govt. allowing partial operation, our teams have collaborated and put together a robust system in place to commence our operations and at the same time safeguarding the health and well-being of our employees. Our SOP (Standard Operating procedures) details out the New Way of Life aspects like attitudes and behaviour at workplace in the way we work, the way we use facilities, the guidelines we need to follow right from starting from home to work and back. Ever since the start of this crisis, we have been implementing varied initiatives to combat the contagion at the institutional, local, state and national level to deal with the pandemic.”

All businesses in the Amara Raja Group are getting into partial operations in a phased manner adhering to all the necessary health and safety guidelines issued by the Central and State Governments and ensuring complete compliance of the SOPs.



Much before COVID 19 was declared a pandemic, the Amara Raja Group constituted a Group Corporate Taskforce for the prevention of COVID-19. The Taskforce includes senior leadership and medical professionals who are aimed to evaluate the entire operating environment, to assess the operating guidelines released by Central/State Governments, to formulate and execute the action plan devised against the Pandemic and to come up with more sustainable strategies for the resumption of work post COVID-19.

Reconstituting the existing Group Corporate Taskforce for prevention of COVID-19, the group further strengthened its working by adding four core taskforce teams as follows – ‘Health Safety and People’, ‘Business Continuity’, ‘CSR’, and ‘COVID-19 Impact & Data Analysis’.  These taskforce teams comprising leaders across the group are working collaboratively in combating the crisis.

The GROCOM team, or the Growth committee of the Group which comprises of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman and the Senior Leadership, alongside are having daily video meetings to discuss the various aspects of People and business.
The SOP document advises all the people to install and use the GOI launched  ‘Arogya Setu App’. Additionally, the Group has enabled the digital people platform called ‘WE@AR’ to communicate and engage with all its 16000 + employees. As soon as the lock down was announced, the people platform has been enabled with geo-tagging, which further helps the group to know the location of each of its people and offer them support in case of any urgency. The group is also working towards developing a customized self-screening tool which will help employees understand their health readiness to work.

Amara Raja Group has also set up shelter camps for the migrant workers on their Karakambadi, Petamitta, ARGC and Digivamagam facility centers. They are regularly monitoring the health of over 800 migrant workers and their families while providing them with daily essentials.  Amara Raja earlier announced several measures for the communities at large including that of 6 Crores donation to the Chief Ministers Relief Fund of which 5 Crores to AP CM Relief Fund and 1 Crore to Telangana CM Relief fund. This included a one day salary contribution from all employees in the Group.
