BeatO introduces a unique Comprehensive

BeatO introduces a unique Comprehensive Diabetes Care Plan
– ‘Diabetes TOTAL’ – with in-built hospitalization cover
~The first of its kind plan aims at providing Personalized Diabetes Support and Management Program paired with coverage for in-patient treatment~

BeatO – India’s largest digital ecosystem for diabetes care and management – announced the launch of its ‘Diabetes TOTAL’ monthly subscription plan.

This is a holistic plan that provides a person with diabetes an affordable hospitalization insurance cover and significant savings on all their recurring medical expenses. The plan combines this with unlimited access to BeatO’s diabetes monitoring and management system that drives intervention through top diabetologists and other specialist doctors. It also rewards users who comply and manage their blood glucose levels by providing discounts on their subscription costs.

India is  considered  as a global epicenter of this lifestyle-linked ailment, more than 74 million adults are estimated to have diabetes. As per the National Diabetes and Diabetic Retinopathy Survey by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, diabetes prevalence in India is 11.8%. While such statistics are worrying, the bigger worry – almost 70% of people with the ailment have uncontrolled diabetes.

Typically, diabetics spend around Rs 30,000 per annum only on managing diabetes- this includes buying blood glucose strips, medication expenses, doctor consultations, lab tests, physical examinations, and diet planning. Additionally, a hospitalization cover is extremely important for a person with diabetes considering the chances of future health complications. However, expensive premiums, extensive medical tests or disqualification due to pre-existing ailments mean a large number of people avoid buying health insurance or are not sufficiently covered.

Considering the current COVID-19 pandemic and the higher complication risks for people with diabetes; not having insurance can cause a lot of stress. Additionally, hospitalization, even from non-diabetes related complications, can incur high treatment costs. Reports indicate that India ranks among the world’s least-insured nations, with a 20% health insurance penetration rate. For a diabetic especially, lack of insurance can inflate their financial burden and perhaps even mean inadequate medical care.

Addressing the problem, BeatO presents a holistic plan-specially for people with diabetes, which has a three-pronged approach of providing affordable hospitalization coverage, huge savings on diabetes-related expenses, and a detailed diabetes management program.

The plan is very affordable and easy to obtain compared to any other solution, with monthly subscription fees starting at just Rs. 999/month. Each member receives the following benefits:

·         Rs. 5 lakhs Hospitalization Cover with cashless claims via a network of 7,000 plus hospitals
·         BeatO’s smart sugar monitoring kit and unlimited test strips
·         BeatO’s AI-driven nudging and triaging system
·         Unlimited Video Consultations with Top endocrinologists/diabetologists and other specialists
·         Monthly Nutritional Therapy and Support (customised diet and exercise plan based on an individual’s goals)
·         Medicines at FLAT 20% Off; Lab Tests up to 75% Off; Physical Exams up to 40% Off
·         Health Concierge Service

Elaborating on the launch, Gautam Chopra, CEO – BeatO, said, “Understanding the pressing need for people with diabetes to receive appropriate protection against unforeseen health risks, BeatO has integrated a comprehensive Health Insurance Cover in combination with our digital care and management ecosystem that helps a person with Diabetes improve their health and save up to Rs 20,000 per annum on their healthcare expenses.

By helping people manage their diabetes via virtual care, education, support, incentives and rewards, we are creating value for patients as well as our industry and society at large. Working with innovative industry leaders in the insurance sector will provide access to this first-of-a-kind offering for people living with diabetes. Such bespoke solutions can help people lead a stress-free life and take decisions that are good for their health without having to worry about finances.”

Within a short span, BeatO has emerged as a leading platform for chronic illness management in India, with more than 100,000 users, adding about 8,000-10,000 users per month. Currently, BeatO benefits users in 1,500 cities across India. The latest Diabetes TOTAL plan is now available to customers.

AirAsia India announced a special initiative, the 'AirAsia RedPass', acknowledging the contribution made by doctors in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. Doctors have been at the forefront of the nation's fight against the pandemic, working tirelessly to save lives without fearing for their own.

As part of this initiative to pay a tribute to doctors, AirAsia India will give away 50,000 free seats on flights across its domestic sectors to doctors as a gesture of gratitude for their commendable efforts in support of the nation.

Doctors can submit their contact details and desired sector and date of travel between 1 Jul 2020 to 30 Sep 2020 with their registration number or ID as proof on https://air.asia/GCs2R. Applications are open till 12 June 2020 with up to 50,000 AirAsia RedPasses available for doctors across the country who would also be given special privileges like priority boarding at the airport. The RedPass would be valid for a one way flight for the successful applicant doctors on the AirAsia India domestic network.

Speaking of the concept and inspiration behind the AirAsia RedPassMr. Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer, AirAsia India said “As a mark of respect to our doctors and in recognition of the admirable values they have displayed through the last few months - grit, determination and strength, we at AirAsia India wanted to express our gratitude for their tireless efforts in keeping the nation safe and healthy. We understand that a lot of doctors have been away from their family and friends in the course of their commitment to their duty. True to our essence of connecting people and destinations, we would be honoured to play a part in connecting them to their loved ones.”

AirAsia has been working closely with medical professionals and regulatory authorities to ensure the health and safety of its guests and cabin crew. In line with WHO guidelines to contain the spread of coronavirus, AirAsia India undertakes robust measures to upkeep the hygiene levels of its aircraft and minimise the risk of spread of any infectious diseases. AirAsia India's fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft are all equipped with HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Arresters) aircraft filtration system which filter 99.99% of dust particles and airborne contaminants such as viruses and bacteria similar to those used to keep the air clean in hospital surgical operating rooms. The filtration system also ensures a constant 'downwash' wash of air @ 1m/sec, minimising the risk of cross contamination and refreshing the air in the entire cabin every 2-3 minutes, offering the highest possible quality of air. The fleet undergoes transit cleaning at each stop and regular disinfection to control or kill infectious agents using cleaning, sanitising and disinfecting products approved by the Public Health Authority and aircraft manufacturers.

Additional precautionary measures have been deployed on all flights since the resumption of flight operations and include thermal screening to detect any passengers who may be symptomatic at time of boarding the plane. Customised safety kits are being given by AirAsia India to all guests at the boarding gates including sanitisers, face masks and face shields for use onboard to prevent infection from potentially asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic co-passengers while also reducing the potential for autoinoculation. The safety of guests and crew is an utmost priority and these additional enhancements demonstrate the continued commitment to keeping flying as the safest mode of travel.

*Base Fare will be waived off under the RedPass Scheme, airport fees, charges and statutory taxes will be borne by the traveler.

MGM ENSURES ‘INTACT SURVIVAL’ FOR

EXTREME PRETERM BORN TWIN GIRLS
Twins born at 25 weeks of pregnancy
Doctors at MGM successfully ensure intact survival, despite survival chances in developed countries being around 50 - 60%

MGM Healthcare, a quaternary care hospital in the heart of the city, today announced the discharge of a unique pair of twins who underwent intensive care at the hospital for 85 days after their birth.
Elaborating on these twins, Dr. Binu Ninan, Head of Department -  Paediatrics and Neonatology, MGM Healthcare said, “The twins came into the world through a caesarean section surgery on recently, in just 25 weeks of pregnancy, which is an extremely premature birth. On account of this, they weighed just 840 grams and 600 grams respectively, the younger one being less than the size of a palm. They spent a challenging time in the neonatal intensive care unit following their birth, as chances of survival of such premature birth even in developed countries is around 50-60%. But we are happy to have successfully brought the babies back to normal.”

The post-birth treatment to achieve normal size and weight for the babies was undertaken by the Neonatology team at MGM Healthcare led by Dr. Binu Ninan, comprising of Dr. Chandra Kumar N., Senior Consultant – Neonatology, Dr. Dakshayani R., Senior Consultant - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Dr Govardhan, Consultants - Paediatrics and Neonatology and Dr. Aravind S., Consultants - Paediatrics and Neonatology.

Neonatologists provided support for breathing in the delivery room and before shifting them to NICU. Both the babies were provided diligent care in NICU in incubators and other support to facilitate growth and maturation of their organs. They required support from ventilator machine for breathing, surfactant therapy (medicine to enable adequate lung expansion), inotropes to support the heart and circulation for first few days, and as they were so tender and could not digest milk, nutrition was provided by intravenous route (parenteral nutrition), Antibiotics were provided for infection, and last but not the least, tender loving care by efficient team of doctors.

Commenting on the babies’ present condition, Dr. Chandra Kumar N. said, “After 85 days of intensive care, the twin girls have now attained weight of 1.65 kg and 1.43 kg respectively, without any major morbidities…this is what we call ‘intact survival’, which is the right of every baby, including preterm babies. Our experience with these pair of twins was very satisfying as we are glad that we could give them back to their parents in a stable condition, just like any normal baby.”
Mother of the twins said, “We are happy we chose MGM Healthcare. While the babies got a new lease of life, the doctors and nurses hand-held us throughout these 85 days, reassuring us continuously that everything would be fine. This care is something that we will cherish all our lives.”
