VELS UNIVERSITY LAUNCHES ‘VELS FREE EDUCATION SCHEME’ FOR CHILDREN OF CORONA WARRIORS

Dr. Ishari K Ganesh, Founder and Chancellor of VISTAS (Vels University), one of Tamil Nadu’s leading multi-disciplinary institution for higher education has announced a free education scheme for children of various service personnel who have been tirelessly working at the frontline to combat the spread of coronavirus.

The scheme will provide an opportunity for students who have cleared their class 12 examinations in this academic year, to pursue their higher education in any of the fifty undergraduate courses offered at Vels University. Recognising the sacrificing efforts of the frontline fieldworkers and to ensure a quality higher education for their children, this scheme can be availed by Corona warriors (nurses, police personnel, and sanitation workers).


Under this scheme, a total of 300 students (100 wards of parents working in each of the three fields – nurses, police personnel and sanitation workers), will be selected on the basis of their marks and their education will be sponsored by Vels University at complete free of cost. Priority will be given to the children of those who had lost their lives in the battle against the virus.

This shall be a trendsetting plan for Tamil Nadu. Speaking about the free education scheme in a video released on his official handle, Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, Chancellor of Vels University, has also requested the Chancellors of other private Universities and heads of educational institutions to offer such similar schemes as a token of respect and gratitude for the faceless warriors who are waging a war against the Covid – 19 virus

At a time when the country is grappling with the most unprecedented pandemic of our times, IndiGo has launched ‘Tough Cookie’ campaign on the occasion of National Doctor's Day to express gratitude towards the tireless commitment and service being given by the medical fraternity to the nation and humanity. As part of the campaign, IndiGo will provide up to 25% Tough Cookie discount on the airfares to the nurses and doctors who have serviced in these challenging times. As part of the initiative, IndiGo will track the Tough Cookie journey to make it special every step of the way, starting from a complementary cookie tin at check-in, welcome announcement at the boarding gate, special Tough Cookie sticker on the PPE and in-flight announcement giving them a warm welcome on-board.

The nurses and doctors will be required to provide valid hospital IDs at the time of check-in as a proof of their identity. The discount will be offered while booking through IndiGo’s website, valid for sale and travel from July 01, 2020 till December 31, 2020.

IndiGo will run a 360-degree campaign on multiple platforms including Print, OOH, PR, social media, along with other on ground and in-flight activations to promote the initiative, which will go on till the year end. Content including interesting videos, static creatives, giphys, will be published across social media platforms to engage customers and create awareness around the service provided by the medical fraternity. Studies have shown that there has been a steady increase in cardiac related ailments among women in the recent years. In an attempt to address this growing trend, Fortis Malar Hospital hosted an awareness secession as part of their International Women’s Day 2020 celebrations. The session educated and encouraged women on various aspects of wellness, especially on cardiac well-being. As women are indispensable to the environments they live and work in, it is important for them to cultivate a habit of self-care, a critical routine that almost every woman puts off as a last priority.

As a part of the celebrations Fortis Malar Hospital in collaboration with premier beauty salon Green Trends conducted an exclusive makeover activity to make participating women feel special and good. This activity was aimed at providing grooming experience for nurses and other women staff who are working round the clock for the patients and hardly have any time for themselves.
