Noida International Airport awards 30-year concession to Indian

Noida International Airport awards 30-year concession to Indian Oil Skytanking Ltd (IOSL) for setting up the fuel farm and hydrant system

Noida International Airport has awarded Indian Oil Skytanking Ltd (IOSL) a 30-year concession to design, build, and operate fuel infrastructure, including multi-user fuel farm and hydrant system for the airport. This partnership will help NIA provide aviation turbine fuel cost-efficiently and under an open access model to its airline partners.

Under this agreement, IOSL will build facilities which will include 10,000 m3 of fuel-storage tanks with an inbuilt flexibility to increase the capacity rapidly as per air traffic demand and supported by an underground hydrant system connecting all aircraft stands, remote and contact, with fuel pipelines, thereby enhancing safety of the airside. Keeping to Noida International Airport’s promise of building an environmentally conscious airport ecosystem and India’s first truly digital airport, IOSL will be able to accommodate sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and manage movements via a digital command and control centre.

 Zurich Airport International AG signs shareholder 

agreement for the development of Noida International Airport

Progressing further towards the development of Noida International Airport (NIA), the shareholder agreement between Zurich Airport International AG (ZAIA) and Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) was signed in Lucknow today. Shri Arunvir Singh, CEO NIAL, and Mr. Christoph Schnellmann, CEO YIAPL, signed the agreement in the presence of the Honorable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath; Shri Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh; and Shri S.P. Goyal, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh.

As per the agreement, NIAL will hold one golden share in Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL) and the right to nominate two directors to the board. The directors to be added to the board will be Dr. Arun Vir Singh, CEO NIAL, and Mr. Vishak Iyer, Director Civil Aviation, Government of Uttar Pradesh.

The shareholder agreement marks another important milestone for the Noida International Airport project and the much-awaited aviation infrastructure in the NCR region and in Uttar Pradesh. Jointly committed, ZAIA and the UP Government are developing Noida International Airport as an upcoming world-class airport. The agreement also underpins the state government’s support to establish and continuously improve surface access to the airport, establish and expand utilities required to run the airport (water, electricity, wastewater), maintain law and order, including monitoring at the airport and grant the necessary clearances to build and operate the airport.

At the occasion, Shri Yogi Adityanath, Honourable Chief Minister, Government of Uttar Pradesh said, “The signing of the shareholder agreement is the next step in the direction of progress for the state. Noida International Airport will be the benchmark for a modern, world-class airport in India. It will accelerate the development of industrial infrastructure, boost tourism, promote exports, ease air traffic and lead to creation of more jobs in the state. It will generate multi-dimensional progress, leading to economic development in Uttar Pradesh”.

Mr. Arunvir Singh, Chief Executive Officer, NIAL said, “The shareholder agreement with Zurich Airport International AG (ZAIA) is yet another stride towards developing a truly world-class airport in Uttar Pradesh. We all are eagerly awaiting the beginning of construction of the airport, which will herald economic growth and job opportunities in the state. We are confident that NIA will be the benchmark for a digital, sustainable and state-of-the-art airport not only for the state but for the whole country”.

NIA is envisaged to become India’s first net zero emission airport and is very pleased with the proactive stance taken by the UP government in its UP solar energy policy 2017. NIA is striving to make air travel more affordable for airlines and passengers by building the infrastructure in a sustainable and cost-effective manner using renewable energy. The state government’s support through measures such as VAT/ GST exemptions on procurement of equipment related to renewable energy, on cross-subsidy charges, wheeling/transmission charges as well as on open access charges will help make NIA’s sustainability investments financially viable. Last month, Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL) received the final credit sanction for INR 3725 crore from the State Bank of India (SBI) for the development of Noida International Airport (NIA).

 Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL) secures financing from State Bank of India (SBI) for the development of Noida International Airport (NIA)

Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL) received the final credit sanction for INR 3725 crore from the State Bank of India (SBI) for the development of Noida International Airport (NIA). The funding is a crucial milestone for the project as it validates the financial viability of the project while also outlining the next steps for the establishment of the Noida International Airport.

Mr. Christoph Schnellmann, Chief Executive Officer, Yamuna International Airport Private Limited said, “We are extremely delighted to partner with the State Bank of India, the country’s largest bank, for financing the development of the Noida International Airport. The entire loan of INR 3725 crore has been underwritten by SBI on a door-to-door loan tenor of 20 years. We look forward to working closely with SBI to develop NIA as a world class airport in India. The project will not only boost the Indian economy but will also help in employment generation in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR region”.

The airport is being developed in close partnership with Government of Uttar Pradesh and Government of India. UP government’s continued support towards the project has been vital in the process so far. YIAPL now looks forward to the conclusion of UP government’s resettlement and rehabilitation process and the start of construction of the airport. Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) is undertaking the engineering, procurement, and construction of NIA Phase- 1 (i.e., 12 million passengers per annum capacity) under various packages pursuant to a two-stage international competitive e-tender process.

YIAPL is inviting responses to its e-Request for Qualification (“e-RFQ”) from financially sound, experienced, and reputed contractors to short-list the tenderers for award of – engineering, procurement, and construction of terminal and associated works (Package- 1), and airside, landside, and associated works (Package- 2), in accordance with terms and conditions of the e-RFQ.

 

Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) has been granted the right to develop, operate and maintain the Noida International Airport (NIA) on DBFOT basis.

Noida International Airport as the official airport name, logo unveiled

 Zurich Airport International and UP government have finalised the nomenclature of the greenfield airport at Jewar as – Noida International Airport. The name and logo were finalised in the presence of Honourable Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh -Shri Yogi Adityanath.


The brand logo is a symbol that shows a Sarus Crane - the state bird of UP - in flight. The symbol is created using thin uniform converging lines with a blue-green colour gradient fill symbolising technology and connectivity on one hand and eco-consciousness on the other. The upward movement denotes positivity and upliftment of experience. The logo effectively combines technology with emotions while lending sophistication and elegance. The logo echoes Noida International Airport’s vision to be India’s leading airport in terms of quality, efficiency, technology and a role model for sustainable infrastructure and operations, delivering an exemplary experience to all customer segments.

In November last year, Zurich Airport International AG (ZAIA) won the contract to build and operate the airport in Greater Noida for a period of 40 years, which includes construction period of four years in the first phase. ZAIA received the security clearance from the Union ministry of home affairs to develop the Noida International Airport at Jewar in May this year. Last week, a consortium of Nordic, Grimshaw, Haptic and STUP has been selected as the architect team to design the airport.
