Its indeed a pleasure for me to inaugurate this Skill Development Training Programme for polytechnic students of Government Polytechnic college,Papanasam, Thanjavur. I am happy to be amidst this young vibrant group today. This is really a very interesting as well as need of the hour programme, as we are responsible to produce industry relevant and employable youth for the betterment of our country’s infrastructure development.

Moreover she said the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship through the National Skill Development Corporation has implemented Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 2015-16
with a target to cover 24 lakh youth in the country. The scheme is implemented with the objective to enable a large number of Indian youth to take up industry-relevant skill training that will help them
in securing a better livelihood. Individuals with prior learning experience or skills were also assessed and certified under the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) category. The Skill Development Plan/scheme was launched on 2nd October 2016 with the objective to Provide fresh skill development training to school dropouts, college dropouts and unemployed youth through short term courses. It also aims to recognize the skill set available for the current work force through skill certification. Tamil Nadu Government is also focusing on skill development for the past decade. Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation was formed with a vision to transform the state into skill hub by skilling the youth to enhance their employability and match the expectations of the Industry. Since 2013 it is functioning as a Corporation under the Labour and Employment Department. TNSDC has been declared as the State Nodal Agency for Skill Development by the Government.
This unique Centre could facilitate a multi-disciplinary learning environment across Technology,Engineering, Science and Management. The primary focus of the Centre is to create a robust technical education eco-system through its experience in industrial products and services.

This Centre is intended to bridge today’s gap between industry requirements and technical education and provides a solution that makes technical institutes more aligned with industry needs and makes engineering
graduate students industry-ready. Hence such a training programme is really very useful to get a knowhow on the industry-relevant topics in every specialization of technical education.

I congratulate coordinators Dr N Sivakumaran, Professor, Dept of ICE, Dr M Venkatakirthiga,Dr P Raja and Dr S Moorthi Associate Professor,Dept of EEE for the initiative and invite the students to make use of the opportunity to learn the key takeaways properly.
