Inauguration of FDP under AICTE Teaching and Learning (ATAL) Academy by
Prof. M. Chidambaram, Former Director, NITT
National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli has scheduled to organise two Faculty Development Programmes titled “Energy Engineering” and “Advances in Fuzzy Logic and Neural Networks in Artificial Intelligence” from 28-12-2020 to 01-01-2021, sponsored by the AICTE Teaching and Learning (ATAL) Academy, India.
The inaugural function of this programme was held on 28th, December 2020 through the online mode, in which Dr. M. Chidambaram, Former Director, NITT, Former Professor, IIT Madras and presently Emeritus Professor, Chemical Engineering, NIT Warangal was the chief guest. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the need for such events in creating awareness among young researchers about the nuances of Energy Engineering and Artificial Intelligence along with challenging research problems. Dr. Mini Shaji Thomas, Director, NITT presided over the function and she said that these ATAL programmes are conducted jointly by the Departments of EEE and Mathematics, to train about 400 participants including faculty, research scholars and post graduate students and industry personnel from all over India.
Dr. V.Sankaranarayanan, Prof. & Head, Department of EEE, NITT gave a felicitation address, briefing on the research facilities available in NITT. Eminent experts from IITs, NITs and IIITs would deliver special lectures, sharing their vast experience in various research topics.
Earlier, Dr. N. Kumaresan, Professor, EEE, NITT welcomed the participants and mentioned that the objective of the ATAL programme is to constantly update the research group and academicians, on the
advancements taking place in the emerging areas and to underscore the importance of fostering research, innovation and entrepreneurship. Further, he also pointed out that the World Book of Record, London, UK has recognized the ATAL Academy, for having very successfully organized more than 1000 FDP Programmes, thereby training about 1 lakh faculty members, across premier institutions like IITs, NITs, and IIITs in the year 2020-2021 and also added that the budget for this year to conduct the online FDP programmes is Rs 10 crores. Dr. V. Lakshmana Gomathi Nayagam, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics, proposed the vote of thanks.
