Meet Satellite Shankar - A hero that wins not just battles but hearts

 Sooraj Pancholi is back on the silver screen with a special journey of Satellite Shankar connecting India.

The movie highlights Sooraj Pancholi as an army officer and his journey of self-discovery while exploring the beauty of India.

He says, “I have always wanted to play a soldier in a classic war or an action film. But this is not a war film, it’s not an action film, it’s a drama. The movie is about the life of every soldier – of what they see and feel in personal life. It’s not about a soldier’s life at the base camp. It is about a soldier, who is on leave and is going to meet his mother. It’s what he faces through the journey while travelling through India. So, it is looking at India from a soldier’s point of view.’’

The film which has been shot in 10 location across the country including places like Chitkul in Himachal Pradesh and Agra in Uttar Pradesh. He says, ‘’It was hectic. But, travelling by road is an experience itself. And, it was my first time at Taj Mahal, too!’’

The movie also stars the south actor Megha Akash who is making her Bollywood debut. Speaking about her, Sooraj Pancholi says, “She’s a good co-star and a good performer.’’

Sooraj Pancholi to shoot a promotional track with Army men for Satellite Shankar

 Actor Sooraj Pancholi will be teaming up with select soldiers to shoot a promotional track for his 

upcoming action-drama 'Satellite Shankar'.  

The actor has already met officials from Chitkul (Himachal Pradesh), Agra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, 

and Maharashtra in the past six months while shooting the film. "He interacted with them to 

learn of their life and hardships. The makers pitched the idea of creating a promotional number 

with 20 of those he met. The video will be shot on May 15 in Mumbai," says the source.

The actor revealed that the team is currently prepping to finalize a number and quoted, "We 

wanted them to be part of this since our movie is dedicated to them and their hardships. The film 

has nothing to do with [our] international relations. It's merely a heart-wrenching take on our brave hearts."

Sooraj Pancholi plans to screen Satellite Shankar for the army jawaans

Since the Pulwama attack, Sooraj Pancholi has been wanting to do something for the soldiers of our country. The actor, who plays a jawaan in the upcoming film, Satellite Shankar, feels that soldiers sacrifice a lot for the cause of national security. He’s reminded of the time, six months ago, when he was shooting a few kilometers away from an army base in Chitkul, Himachal Pradesh. The film’s makers had created a fake army base to shoot the film without disturbing the armed forces. The location is 19 hours away from Chandigarh and is one of the last posts on the Indo-China border touching Himachal Pradesh.

Recalling the shoot, the actor told BT, “I can’t imagine what the families of soldiers go through because they don’t get to see them for months. They don’t even hear them too often on a phone line. I feel numb when I think of the Pulwama attack where we lost so many jawaans who must have been away from their homes and families for so long. I remember the time when we were in Chitkul for our film’s first schedule. We had built our camp at a distance from the real one. When the soldiers saw us shooting, they welcomed us into the real camp. They gave us lunch and then some snacks and chatted with us for so long. There was so much we learnt by just hearing their life stories, some which we eventually added to the script because it stems from reality.”

Sooraj adds, “That experience just changed my approach to life. Those jawaans there in Chitkul hadn’t seen their folks in months, they have to travel 10 kms to get a phone line. It’s a tough life. We must respect their sacrifices to ensure we never lose touch with our life and people. As a mark of respect for them and for the fact that I play a soldier. And I represent them and their thoughts in this film, I want to screen Satellite Shankar for them.”

While the cameras have already started rolling for Satellite Shankar, the makers are all set to leave the audience in awe with a triple flare. Not one, but three unique posters of Satellite Shankar featuring Sooraj Pancholi are getting readied for the launch tomorrow.

“The film has so much to offer that one poster won’t be able to do justice to it,” quips director Irfan Kamal. Incidentally, all the three visuals are completely different in nature and will be released within an hour.

The movie has already been much in news because of its catchy title and multiple shoot locations (it has been shot across 10 different states).

Starring Sooraj Pancholi in the title role, Satellite Shankar is a T-Series Films and Cine1 Studios Production.

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Murad Khetani and Ashwin Varde, the film is a heartwarming and adventurous tale of a soldier’s journey across the length and breadth of India, during which he emerges as the country’s biggest hero.

For Sooraj, this is one of his most special films. To understand the nuances of an army man better, the actor spent considerable time with soldiers at actual army camps in places like Amritsar, Pathankot and Chitkul.
