     VELAMMAL'S CHESS PRODIGY SHINES AT THE STATE CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP-2021

Master Mithun Pranav, Std 2 of Velammal Main School,  Mogappair Campus has made an incredible win in  the TamilNadu State Chess Online Under 8 Open Chess Championship- 2021 by clinching Gold, held on 31st August, 2021

Pranav's  victory with a score 7.5/9 points in the event has qualified him to represent TamilNadu at National Under 8 Online Chess Championship that is scheduled between
 10th September and 12th  September 2021.

The championship was organised by Chennai District Chess Association which saw participation of players from all District Chess Association across the state.

The School Management lauds Pranav's tremendous feat and wishes him success in his chess career.

 VELAMMAL STUDENTS FELICITATED FOR THEIR PROWESS IN CHESS

The Chess prodigies of Velammal Nexus, Master Ajay Karthikeyan, Class XI from Velammal Vidyalaya Annexure, Mel Aynambakkam, won the Gold medal in boys (U-15) category at the National Sub-Junior level Open Chess Championship among 256 participants recently. He has also represented India for Chess competitions at the International Level, whereas Miss B. Savithashree, Class IX from Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel Aynambakkam, won the Gold medal in the girls (U-11) category at the National Chess Championship. She has also won 12 World Chess Championships.

Recognizing their extraordinary achievements at the National Level, these players were honoured by Tmt. R.  Seethalakshmi, IAS, Collector of Chennai and were awarded cash prizes during the Republic Day celebration on 26th January, 2021.
