                                 Artificial Intelligence Workshop held at Velammal

Velammal main school, Mogappair campus organised  a one day workshop for the students  of class 6-8. The guests of honour was Mr. Balaji Varadhan,  CEO and Co - founder of Village Technology School and Mr. Balaji Thiru, CEO and founder of Robotics  foundation of Tamilnadu .

The session compromised how technology evolves with our day to day life.  Many demonstrations were done and smart dustbins were made by the students. They also learnt the components and concepts of artificial intelligence. The management has arranged  this  workshop to enrich and inspire the art of technology.

On the whole,  it was an educative and informative session.

The (U  -19) Kho-Kho  Boys Team of Velammal Main School, Mogappair  campus bagged  the Silver Medal and the Runners Title at  the State Level Open School Team Championship-2022 T for Boys  held in Dhaanish Ahmed College of Engineering, Chennai, recently.

 

This Kho-Kho Team made  it among 14 teams  and received certificates, medals and trophy.

The school management lauds the team’s splendid win.

Throwball girls team of Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus bagged the Winner’s trophy and a cash award of Rs.7000 in the Open State Throwball  Championship for girls open category held at Nanganallur on 11th January 2022.

This State Level event was organised by Chennai Achievers Academy where 16 teams from different districts across the state participated. 

 The girls team emerged victorious  defeating Chennai  Achievers Academy  with scores 15-13, 15-10 in the finals and received certificates and gold medals for their glorious win.

The school management congratulates the teams remarkable feat.

Grandmaster R. Praggnanandha, Class 11 of Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus wins  the  Julius Bear Challengers Chess Tournament held virtually with a dominating score  of 3-0 defeating the American opponent Christopher Yoo and secured the First Prize $12500 on 17th October,2021.

 Making a clean sweep by scoring 8 wins and giving away just one draw in the knockout stage  qualifies Grandmaster Praggnanandha to participate in the forthcoming Meltwater Champions Chess Tour scheduled next year where he will face the strongest players in the world.

     VELAMMAL'S CHESS PRODIGY SHINES AT THE STATE CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP-2021

Master Mithun Pranav, Std 2 of Velammal Main School,  Mogappair Campus has made an incredible win in  the TamilNadu State Chess Online Under 8 Open Chess Championship- 2021 by clinching Gold, held on 31st August, 2021

Pranav's  victory with a score 7.5/9 points in the event has qualified him to represent TamilNadu at National Under 8 Online Chess Championship that is scheduled between
 10th September and 12th  September 2021.

The championship was organised by Chennai District Chess Association which saw participation of players from all District Chess Association across the state.

The School Management lauds Pranav's tremendous feat and wishes him success in his chess career.

         SPRINT- 36th ANNUAL SPORTS FIESTA  2021 HELD VIRTUALLY AT VELAMMAL

Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus organised SPRINT- 36th Virtual Sports Fiesta  2021, digitally for the second time  on 29th August, 2021 at Velammal Nexus YouTube channel on the National Sports Day.

The sports day was dedicated to the Indian contestants of Tokyo Olympic 2020 for their commendable performances.

The one hour live streaming started off with a blaze of music and a burst of colours, as the screen was a fun-filled fest of energy and light.
Several thousands of students participated and staged in various activities.

Shri Vasudevan  Bhaskara, former  Indian Hockey Player our guest of honour presided over the event.

The virtual sports fiesta was declared open and it started off with flag hoisting, parade where students synchronised their feet with the band troop and lighting the Olympic torch of hope.

An oath was administered to the students to participate in sports with a sportsman  spirit. The sports day activities and challenges were designed to abide by the social distancing rules . Students actively participated in an array of challenges including Yoga, Push ups, Burbees, Jumping Jacks and many more.

The school ensured that all the events were completed confined to the Covid prevention norms. All the winners were awarded.

The fiesta continued with colourful culturals, pyramid formations which was eye feasting to the viewers.

A lively day filled with enthusiasm and sportsmanship which attracted thousands of viewers.

The sports day meet ended harmoniously with the National Anthem.

Miss Haritha , Std X of Velammal  Main School , Mogappair Campus has set an individual record in the India Book of Records 2021 successfully for performing maximum number of Yoga  poses in one minute.

The event was organised in Chennai recently by India Book of Records wherein Haritha  performed 22 yoga poses in one minute making this extreme challenge look effortless and  successfully set her name in India Book of Records which recognises creative and unique talents in India.

The school management  congratulates her in setting the most impressive record In Yoga, India's ancient practice.

Scouts and Guides of Velammal Main School, Mugappair Campus as a gesture donate food to mark World Humanitarian Day 2021, a global celebration of helping people.

At these unprecedented times, as a token of reverence, Scouts and Guides took up the initiative to distribute food packets in and around their locality to the underprivileged, domestic workers, frontline workers etc.

Scouts and Guides spent quality time and gained the important social skill of being a responsible citizen.
Velammal takes pride in their endeavours.

 VIRTUAL SEMINAR ON 'ROUTE MAP TO DREAM CAREER' HELD AT VELAMMAL

Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus hosted a live seminar 'Route to a dream career' by 

Shri Raghunathan N, founder E4U IIT& NEET ACADEMY on 20th August, 2021 at 10 pm on the virtual platform for the students of class 6 to 8 throwing lights on the  benifits of studying IIT & NEET.

The resource person focused on the young minds nurturing them  to  enable to penchant for science and technology to achieve their career aspirations.

Students were encouraged to understand the importance to take up various exams like Olympiad, NTSE, SAT etc.. at the earliest  for a focused preparation, and better understanding of concepts  to instill confidence to crack exams.

In a nutshell,  the seminar enhanced the indepth knowledge and procedure to prepare and crack the NEET & IIT ( JEE) exams.

This seminar was an initiative by Velammal 
 to provide right guidance to the students to  benchmark their future performance with hope, perseverance and hard work.

Master Mithun Pranav V of Std II, Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus has clinched the  7th overall place in the Asian School Under 9 Team Chess  Championship 2021, held in Philippines last weekend.

Master Mithun of India B Team along with his team mates, scored a grand total of 26 points in 9 rounds with Mithun scoring 6.5 out of 9 enrouting his team to clinch Gold in the championship.

The event was organized by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation and FIDE. More than 900 players from 25 countries participated in this mega event either as an individual or a team.

The School Management applauds his stellar performance and wishes him success in the years to come.

கடந்த வார இறுதியில் பிலிப்பைன்ஸில் நடைபெற்ற ஆசிய  பள்ளிகளிடையேயான சதுரங்க சாம்பியன்ஷிப் போட்டியின் 9 வயதுக்குட்பட்டோர் பிரிவில்  கலந்து கொண்ட  முகப்பேர்  வேலம்மாள் முதன்மைப் பள்ளியின் இரண்டாம் வகுப்பு மாணவன் செல்வன்.மிதுன் பிரணவ்
 7 வது இடத்தைப் பிடித்துள்ளார்.

 

இந்தியா பி அணியின் செல்வன்.மிதுன் தனது அணி வீரர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து 9 சுற்றுகளில் மொத்தம் 26 புள்ளிகளைப் பெற்றார்.தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் 9 புள்ளிகளில் 6.5 புள்ளிகளை வென்று தனது அணி தங்கம் வெல்ல வழிவகுத்தார் என்பது வேலம்மாளின் பெருமைக்குரிய நிகழ்வாகும். பிலிப்பைன்ஸின் தேசிய சதுரங்க கூட்டமைப்பு, ஆசிய சதுரங்க கூட்டமைப்பு மற்றும் FIDE- கூட்டாக இணைந்து  இந்த நிகழ்வை ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தன. இந்த மெகா நிகழ்வில் 25 நாடுகளைச் சேர்ந்த

 900-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட வீரர்கள் தனிநபராகவோ அல்லது குழுவாகவோ பங்கேற்றனர்.

Master Dharshan, class 4  student of Velammal Main School created a  mosaic art of the People's President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam remembering him on his death anniversary on 27th July. 

The portrait, 6.5 feet tall and 5.5 feet wide was designed in 7 hours using 955 Rubik's Cubes.

Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus  premiered the swearing-in-ceremony of the Prefectorial Board 'VOICE'- Velammal's Online Investiture Ceremony Event on 18th July, 2021 in the benign presence of Shri Dr. Loganathan, IPS, Additional Commissioner of Police  at 6:00pm in the Velammal Nexus YouTube channel.

The newly elected school council took charge to dawn the mantle of responsibility and carried it out with utmost dedication.

The leaders were enormously elected through online voting during the lockdown. 

This auspicious event commenced with a prayer song followed by the documentary witnessing the journey of Velammal's 35 years  of excellence.

The ceremony proceeded with  the student council members taking an oath to work earnestly to uphold the honour and glory.

Our respected Senior Principal, Shri K.S Ponmathi  honoured the leaders with badges and sashes and congratulated them.

This was a proud moment for all the parents who witnessed their children embarking on a new journey as a leader. The ceremony took a turn with Western and Classical dance by our Vel's Natyalaya students alluring the viewers.

The event was taken ahead by our Chief Guest with an inspiring speech that emphasized on the motto learning through involvement and advised the newly elected leaders to carry forth their commitment and integrity, as they are the torch bearers of all values the school stands for.

An effervescent day that was filled with a lot of exuberance.
With leaders' shoulders held high and head standing tall.

                        AT THE FIDE WORLD CUP CHESS TOURNAMENT 2021

Grandmaster R. Praggnandha, Class XI of Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus wins in the first game of the two-game mini match in the second round of the FIDE Chess World Cup in Sochi, Russia outwitting Gabriel Sargissian, 37 year old Grandmaster from Armenia.

This stupendous win qualifies Grandmaster Praggnandha to the next round in the on-going world cup chess tournament 2021.

 FIDE உலகக்கோப்பை சதுரங்கப் போட்டியின் 2-வது சுற்றில் வெற்றி ஆதிக்கம் செலுத்தும் வேலம்மாள் பள்ளி கிராண்ட்மாஸ்டர் பிரக்னாநந்தா.

ரஷ்யாவின் சோச்சியில் நடந்த  உலகக் கோப்பையின் FIDE சதுரங்கப் போட்டியின் இரண்டாவது சுற்றில், இரண்டு சிறு விளையாட்டுப் போட்டியின் முதல் ஆட்டத்தில் முகப்பேர் வளாகத்தில் உள்ள வேலம்மாள் பிரதான பள்ளியின் பதினொன்றாம் வகுப்பு இளம் சாதனையாளர் மற்றும் கிராண்ட்மாஸ்டர் ஆர்.பிரக்னாநந்தா, 37 வயதான ரஷ்யாவின் ஆர்மீனியாவைச் சேர்ந்த கிராண்ட்மாஸ்டர், கேப்ரியல் சர்கிசியனைத் தோற்கடித்து வெற்றி பெற்றார்.

Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus organizes web series WHAT NEXT? an exclusive career guidance session. 

'A talk on journalism as a career'  by Mr. Gopinath, popular Journalist, News Presenter, Writer and Founder of Talkshop Academy was live streamed at the Velammal Nexus YouTube channel on 2nd June, 2021 at 6pm.

Mr. Gopinath threw light on the career aspects of Journalism and said that it is an exciting and fast paced career, a great fit for those who are interested in current events and have good presentation skills.

Taking the session forward, he spoke at length on the different types of journalism, its various segments and the qualities required to become a journalist.

Finally, he concluded the session saying that Journalists are representatives of people's voice.

An inspiring session that provided an insight to the students and grabbed several thousands of viewers.

Master Rohit V, Class 7 of Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus, bagged the 2nd place in the zonal level, winning the Mahaguru Jambu Aasan Memorial Prize for Silambattam  in the  Tamil Nadu Parambariya Veera Vilaiyattu Competition 2021 held at Chennai Farex Ground, recently. 

This event was organised by Chennai District Silambattak Kalagam festival to bring back to people the rich heritage of traditional martial art of Tamil Nadu.
