The 23rd edition of the Asia Masters Athletics Championships held from 5th to 9th November 2025, in the vibrant city

The 23rd edition of the Asia Masters Athletics Championships held from 5th to 9th November 2025, in the vibrant city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

Organised under the auspices of Asia Masters Athletics (AMA) and hosted by the Masters Athletics Federation of India (MAFI), this continental championship brings together male and female masters athletes (aged 35 and above) from across Asia and beyond, in a celebration of sport, vitality and lifelong athletic endeavour at the world-class athletics venue in Chennai, with related road race events scheduled (for example, the Masters 10K) as part of the programme.

Open to men and women who are 35 years or older as of 5 November 2025, medically fit and registered through their national AMA-member federations.

Athletes may participate in up to four individual track & field events, plus one road-race (10K) and up to two relay events.

This year’s championship marks a historic moment for both India and Asia Masters Athletics.

For the first time in history, total entries for the Asian Masters Athletics Championships have exceeded 3,500 athletes from across the all the Asian Members Countries.

From the Indian contingent alone, a record-breaking of 2,600+ athletes have participated and the largest ever representation from India in any Asian Masters event.

This milestone reflects the growing strength, enthusiasm, and inclusivity of the Masters athletics movement in India and Asia.

The Government of Tamil Nadu and local organising committee are committed to providing world-class facilities, warm hospitality and a seamless competition experience for all participants and officials.

This event marks a major continental gathering of masters athletes—those who have chosen to continue their athletic journeys beyond the typical elite competitive years—thus embodying the ethos of sport "beyond age".

Hosting the 23rd edition in India—specifically in Tamil Nadu—underscores India’s growing prominence in the masters athletics movement and its capacity to host large-scale international athletics events.

Beyond competition, the championships foster camaraderie, cultural exchange and personal inspiration: athletes from diverse nations and backgrounds will compete, connect, and share experiences on and off the track.

The event contributes to the wider aims of AMA and World Masters Athletics (WMA) of promoting athletics as a lifelong pursuit and enhancing quality of life for older athletes.

Tamil Nadu is honoured to host this prestigious event that celebrates excellence, perseverance, and the spirit of sportsmanship among masters athletes from across Asia and beyond.”
