ICICI Bank introduces use of satellite data to

ICICI Bank introduces use of satellite data to power credit assessment of farmers
·         First bank in the country and among few globally to do this
·         Available in 500 villages in Maharashtra, MP and Gujarat; plans to scale up to 63,000 villages shortly

ICICI Bank today announced the usage of satellite data—imagery from Earth observation satellites—to assess credit worthiness of its customers belonging to the farm sector. The Bank is the first in India and among few globally to use satellite data to measure an array of parameters related to the land, irrigation and crop patterns and use it in combination with demographic and financial parameters to make expeditious lending decisions for farmers. This use of innovative technology helps farmers with existing credit to enhance their eligibility, while new-to-credit farmers can now get better access to credit. Additionally, since the land verification is done in a contactless manner with the help of satellite data, credit assessments are being done within a few days as against the industry practice of upto 15 days.

The Bank has been using satellite data for the past few months in over 500 villages in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat and plans to scale up the initiative to over 63,000 villages shortly across the country.

This initiative gains significance at a time when people are advised to stay indoors and avoid travel in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. This use of satellite data provides quick and technically sound analysis of the land, crop and irrigation patterns from remote locations, without the need of the customer or a bank official having to visit the land. It offers farmers the significant advantage of reliable data being provided to the Bank without any hassles of travel, operational or logistical expenditure to them.

Commenting on this new initiative, Mr. Anup Bagchi, Executive Director, ICICI Bank, said, “ICICI Bank has a legacy of pioneering innovations in technology to create propositions that provide increased convenience to customers. We have created new paradigms in the financial services industry by taking the lead in introducing path breaking innovations including firsts like internet banking in 1998, mobile banking (2008), Tab banking (2012), 24x7 Touch Banking branches (2012), Software Robotics (2016) and Blockchain deployment (2016).

We are bringing forth yet another futuristic technology of using satellite data and analysis to provide key inputs for credit assessments for lending to farmers. Earlier, one had to visit remote locations to manually assess a host of parameters on the land location, irrigation levels and crop quality patterns to forecast future revenues of the farmers. Now, imagery from earth observation satellite gives us ground-breaking ability to track many information across large areas in a contactless and highly reliable manner. This, combined with demographic and financial details, provides strong information on the land asset of the farmers. We believe that usage of this technology will enhance accessibility to credit as new-to-credit farmers will have easy access to formal credit, as well as farmers with existing credit lines will be able to securely expand their eligibility. With encouraging response to our pilot project in over 500 villages, we will shortly cover over 63,000 villages in the country for lending with this technology.”

The Bank has partnered with agri–fintech companies specialising in harnessing space technology and weather information for commercial usage. It has worked closely with them to build reports with over 40 parameters for assessing credit-worthiness of a farmer with deep study of the land, irrigation and crop patterns. The analysis is put together using algorithms to analyse images available from satellites around the planet.  Additionally, the Bank has worked on further scoring models to create indices at district level, village level as well as for individual land to provide an estimate of the past and future agriculture income, the timing of harvest and sources of income, and thus, provide key inputs to credit assessments.

Some of the key satellite data being used by the Bank are:

·         Rainfall and temperature data of past years
·         Soil moisture levels in past years
·         Surface water availability
·         Trends in crop sowing including crop name, tentative sowing & harvesting weeks, crop health and yields
·         Agriculture land location details including latitude, longitude and boundary of the land
·         Nearby locations of warehouses and mandis

This innovative technology will help farmers, who are existing customers of the Bank as well as non-customers, to avail KCC (Kisan Credit Card) loans. KCC attributed one-third to the Bank’s rural loan portfolio of Rs 571.77 billion in the quarter ended June 30, 2020.

Godrej Consumer Products Limited - Pre Q1FY21 Update

This update provides an overall summary of the operating performance and demand trends witnessed during the quarter ended 30th June 2020. This will be followed by a detailed performance update, post the approval of 1QFY21 financial results by the Board of Directors.

1QFY21 quarter was an unprecendented period due to the spread of Coronavirus pandemic across the globe, impacting all the geographies of our operations in the early part of the quarter. We at Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) have been working on a safety first principle, ensuring that our employees and business partners are safe and are taking all necessary precautions to control the spread of Coronavirus.

While we did see impact of lockdown in the early part of the quarter, we displayed strong agility in ramping up the production and resolving logistics challenges. We also leveraged techonology, strong relationships with our channel partners and were agile with feet on ground to meet the end consumer demand.

The demand trends were mixed for the categories and geographies of our operations. In India, resurgence of Household Insecticide category continued with strong underlying consumer demand. We did witness strong momentum in the Hygiene category, however saw muted demand in Hair Colour and Air Freshener, which were temporarily impacted by the lockdown. We expect close to mid single digit, volume driven sales growth in the quarter.

In Indonesia, in spite of disruptions caused by Coronavirus, we expect close to mid single digit constant currency sales growth. We are witnessing strong demand in Household Insectide category and strong traction in the Hygiene category. In GAUM (Godrej Africa, USA, Middle East), we expect sales decline in early twenties, in constant currency terms.

Amidst disruptions caused by Coronavirus, most of the key countries were in standstill mode in April and early May resulting in sales loss. We have seen strong recovery from mid May and June across most of our markets of operations. Within the ‘others’ geographies, the performance in Latin America is expected to be steady in constant currency terms.

However, in INR terms we expect the performance to be weak. Performance in SAARC countries continues to be steady. At consolidated level, we expect absolute sales to be marginally lower compared to the base quarter in INR terms.

Bhushan Kumar brings the powerful Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra for

Bhushan Kumar brings the powerful Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra for
tough times in Shekhar Ravjiani’s voice
Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series recently gave us The Care Concert, a charity fund raiser with 18 top singers of the country to support the PM Cares Fund to fight the Coronavirus pandemic.  The head honcho of T-Series known to release chartbuster music through singles and films, will now release something that can almost be called the need of the tough time we are living in today.
With the pandemic situation of Coronavirus taking over the world, Bhushan Kumar will release the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra composed and sung by Shekhar Ravjiani. The mantra releases on YouTube today, April 13.
Shekhar Ravjiani, who has given numerous hits with T-Series in films has now composed a soothing mantra from home in this lockdown period. The popular musician had earlier composed and lent his voice to Hanuman Chalisa a few years ago, which was appreciated and loved by his fans and they wanted to see him do more work in the devotional genre. Speaking about the mantra the talented singer said, “I’ve been listening to Shankar Sahney’s version of the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra since many years and it is a prayer that I really love and recite regularly. During this lockdown period, I’ve been praying for the well-being of humanity with the hope that this difficult time will pass. Here’s my version of Maha Mrityunjaya mantra -- a prayer from me to Lord Shiva to protect all of us.”
T-Series CMD, Bhushan Kumar says, “We have been in the devotional market space since the time my father started the company. With the blessings of Lord Mahadev, we are excited to release this version of Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra in Shekhar’s voice. We hope the Mantra will bring about positive change during this tough time of the Coronavirus pandemic that humanity at large is grappling with.”
Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, also known as Rudra Mantra or the Tryambakam Mantra, is considered to be having life-restoring powers. It is said to be beneficial for mental, emotional and physical health.
T-Series has always been the frontrunner in the market for devotional music, right from the time of the inception of the company.  Long before T-Series, the music company came to be known for releasing hit Bollywood numbers, the music label was in its early days known for releasing pre-recorded bhajans and aartis in reverence of the Indian Gods and Goddesses, which was highly appreciated and loved by all.
In fact, many will remember T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar would prominently feature in the videos of several devotional songs released by the music major in those days in the 80s and 90s. His son Bhushan Kumar continues his legacy by concentrating sufficiently on this genre of music too.

Ahead of the T-Series & RED FM

Ahead of the T-Series & RED FM The Care Concert Adnan Sami's

daughter wonders why her dad inspects his grand piano 25 times

in a day from different angles

Of the many artists that are performing at the T-Series and RED FM organized The Care Concert is none other than Padma Shri Adnan Sami. Like several others he too is busy prepping up for April 11, 6 pm where some of the best music stars of this country will be taking part in a unique digital initiative. Through this concert Adnan like others from his home will appeal to music lovers to donate whatever best in their capacity to the PM Cares Fund to fight the current Coronavirus pandemic. The concert would be streamed on YouTube and Facebook handles of both T-Series and RED FM.
The celebrated pianist and vocalist is sure to give you your expected dose of entertainment. Going by past experience, he is guaranteed to enthrall music lovers. Most musicians, when performing for a concert are used to everything being taken care of for them by a technical team. In the current scenario, because of the nationwide lockdown, this is for the first time they are trying to figure out how to put their best act with limited help just like how Australian country singer Keith Urban and his wife actor Nicole Kidman recently did through a short and sweet performance from their warehouse. The concert was viewed by fans on a social media account last month after the entire world came under lockdown to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Talking about his preparations, Adnan confidently informs, "Luckily for me, when I was twelve years-old, my father had gifted me a home studio. I had no choice but to engineer. That's how my technical knowledge became strong." But figuring out the shooting part is still a bit of challenge which Adnan is now settling down with, this being his first digital concert. Well for starters, he didn't have to break his head on which part of his home is going to be a world stage on April 11.
The interesting story about that is that Adnan being an accomplished concert pianist, a few years ago had first things first locked in the placement of his Grand Piano when he was doing up the interior of his plush apartment in the western suburb of Mumbai. His diktat to the interior designer was, “This is where the paino is going to be. Now, you figure out where you want everything else to be."  So Adnan's performance space is locked. Still, at home his two-and-half -year-old daughter Medina can often be seen looking at how things are moving around the house in a quizzical manner. Says Adnan, "She is perceptive to the hustle and bustle in the last few days. She is probably wondering, why her Baba, who doesn't take her out anymore, is looking at the same piano, which has been around for some years from different angles 25 times in a day. What's the big deal?"
Lastly Adnan says while he was aware of various performing artists doing different things through their social media handles to maintain an interaction with the audience, he preferred to lie low. So how did he come on board for the T-Series and RED FM The Care concert? He says, "I had been reading about the current scenario, the general economic crunch and the plight of the migrant workers. At the same time T-Series and RED FM approached me for this noble initiative to perform, whereby we would be able to generate funds for the PM Cares Fund, I was delighted with the larger humanitarian cause of this whole initiative and I agreed instantly."

It is a great moment for me

It is a great moment for me that I am able to entertain people during
this difficult time,” says Himanshi Khurana

T-Series is back with another heart-wrenching number for the audience, O Jaanwaale. The music giant has made sure that they keep entertaining their viewers with a selection of varied songs during this difficult time of the country-wide lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The emotional track which talks about love and longing has been sung by Kabir Singh famed singer Akhil Sachdeva and features the gorgeous Bigg Boss 13 famed actress Himanshi Khurana in it.
Himanshi, who is well-known for starring in many top-notch music videos, shares her experience of O Jaanwaale and says, “There is a certain beauty to the single songs like O Jaanwaale. They are a musical tale in itself and to be a part of it is always an interesting experience.

The song spoke to me when I first heard it because Akhil sir’s voice just emotes that feeling so well. We had a good time shooting it and now, the song has released and people are thoroughly appreciating it. I am so over the moon by this response!
In a situation like we are in where we have to sit at home, practice social distancing to fight against coronavirus, it warms my heart that I can give something to the audience to bring a smile on their faces, entertain them for a small while.
It is a great moment for me that I am able to entertain people during this difficult time. As an artist, we live for entertaining the audience and I am glad that I could achieve that with O Jaanwaale in this special way.”

Presented by T-Series and Bhushan Kumar, O Jaanwaale is written and composed by Kunaal Vermaa. The song has been sung by Akhil Sachdeva and features him with actress Himanshi Khurana. The is out now on T-Series’ YouTube channel.

RED FM says ‘Care Karona’ to create awareness during the ‘Coronavirus Pandemic’

One of the largest and most awarded private radio networks in India, 93.5 RED FM has launched an on-air initiative ‘Care Karona’ that puts spotlight on spreading authentic information about Coronavirus. Amidst an ongoing global health crisis, it has become more important to protect and safeguard everybody irrespective of their professions. With a similar vision, RED FM is encouraging their listeners to become facilitators of correct information by educating their maids, drivers and everyone who is in direct contact with people to contain the ripple effect of virus.

RED FM’s engaging campaign involves various RJs doing 20 seconds speed links in their shows with an alarm that highlights the importance of hygiene. Apart from this, RED FM RJs are largely supporting WHO’s ‘Safe Hands Challenge’ on social media asking people to wash their hands for 20 seconds at regular intervals to avoid infection. Also, there will be interviews conducted with medical experts on-air and on RED FM’s digital app to tackle the fake news and bust myths on the Coronavirus pandemic.

Since safety begins at home, RED FM has rolled-out work from home option for all their employees including its RJs. Keeping staff’s health on priority, technical alternatives have been made available on laptops to ensure smooth operations to produce on-air programmes.

Speaking about this campaign, Ms. Nisha Narayanan, COO and Director, RED FM and Magic FM, said, “We all are going through a challenging and uncertain phase due to Coronavirus. While it has adversely affected various industries, health has become a major concern creating scare and panic. We realized there is a huge population that lack authentic information around safety precautions around Coronavirus. Leveraging our wide network of listenership across the country, we decided to launch ‘Care Karona’ campaign leaving no stone unturned in spreading the right information. We request everyone to facilitate correct information and follow all precautionary measures.”

While maintaining hygiene and social distancing have become few important precautionary measures to stay safe from the virus, RED FM’s campaign ‘Care Karona’ is a step towards sharing right information in this crucial period.
