As per global reports, the Ryan Gosling-led sci-fi epic debuted to a stellar US$140.9 million at the box office, marking the biggest debut of 2026. The film collected US$80.5 million in North America and an additional US$60.4 million across 82 international markets, reflecting strong audience interest worldwide.

Directed by acclaimed filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and based on Andy Weir’s bestselling novel, Project Hail Mary has also emerged as one of the strongest openings for an original, non-franchise film in recent years—a rare feat in a market dominated by established IP.

Beyond the box office collections, the Ryan Gosling-starrer has opened to excellent critical reception, holding a strong 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, along with an ‘A’ CinemaScore and featured with a 4.4 on Letterboxd, entering the Top 100 movies of All Time.
