Pragyan 2019 - Valediction Prize Winners

The valediction ceremony was the capstone of the events and efforts of  the past three days. The chief guest for the evening was Dr. Crystal  Dilworth, Caltech alumna, host at Voice of America and former  TEDxYouth speaker. Also present were the Staff Advisor of Pragyan, NIT  Trichy, Dr. Rajeswari Sridhar, Mr. Palaniappan, Head of Marketing, Ms.  Rama Surekha, Head of Technical council and Mr. Vasudevan, Treasurer  of Pragyan, NIT Trichy.





The ceremony began in an auspicious manner, with a prayer song and the  lighting of the lamp. This was followed by the welcome address by the  Staff Advisor of Pragyan 2019, Dr. Rajeswari Sridhar. Next, the chief  
guest for the evening Dr. Crystal Dilworth took the stage and related  about her experience at Pragyan, NIT Trichy. After the inspirational  speech by Dr. Dilworth, the stage was handed over to the Director, Dr.  Mini Shaji Thomas who talked about how the hard work of the organisers  paid off, with Pragyan 19 being a grand success.

Next, to take the stage were Mr. M Palaniappan, Head of Pragyan  marketing, who presented the marketing report and Ms. P. Rama Surekha,  Head of Technical Council who presented the Technical report,  
recognising all the technical achievements of Pragyan, NIT Trichy.

The addresses by dignitaries were followed by the presentation of  Pragyan mementos to the chief guest and the Director. After this, the  winning project of Ingenium, Overhead Inspection of Electric Cables  using Drones, by a team from Kamaraj College of Engineering, along  with other winners of Sangam and Ingenium  were recognised and  appreciated with their awards.  The evening and with it, Pragyan, NIT  Trichy 2019 concluded with the vote of thanks by the treasurer, Mr.  Vasudevan S.

The prize distribution for Sangam, the intra-collegiate technical  competition under the themes (Healthcare and Life Sciences, Defense  and Industrial Tech, Energy and Environment)  were as follows:

NITT Press Release - Pragyan 2019 



The second edition of Square One, the annual outreach event of Pragyan, NIT Trichy’s techno-managerial organisation, was conducted at the GCE (Government College of Engineering), Salem on the 5th of January 2019. The event was attended by 200 odd students from colleges across nearby districts. The inauguration ceremony of the edition of Square One began at around 10 a.m. on 05-01-2019, and was graced by the presence of Dr. G. Vimala Rosaline, the Principal of GCE, Salem and Mr. R. Sundaram, the guest lecturer for the day. The event then officially began.

Mr. R. Sundaram, while talking about his journey as an entrepreneur in India before 2000, encouraged the youngsters of the present to serve the nation, without having to migrate to other countries. He talked for half an hour, inspiring those in the hall, and encouraging them to serve the nation.

Two workshops and three events were conducted through the course of the day, which were beneficial to the participants and tested their technical and managerial aptitude. Prize money worth INR 15000 were distributed to the winners (top three finalists) of the various events.

10 teams participated in the event 'Marketing Hub’ held at 10 a.m. This event aimed to be a platform for participants to unleash their inner marketer, with 3 successive rounds of elimination.

The event ‘Circuitrix’ was held at 10:30 a.m. with a participation of over  teams. The event aimed at building simple and innovative circuits, and consisted of 2 rounds - the MCQ round and a subjective round. The winners were given direct entry to the second round of Circuitrix, which will be held at NIT Trichy during Pragyan ‘19.

A total of 30 teams registered for the ‘Pragyan Memory Challenge’ that was held at 11:30 a.m. The event focused on improving the mnemonic skills of the participants with a series of fun rounds, namely, The Memo-Essay, Confucius Colour and Memolog.

The Industrial Automation workshop was conducted in two batches in the Digital Library building. Organised by Innoviance Technologies, the workshop saw 36 registrations in total.

The Ethical Hacking workshop was conducted in two sessions as well, in the CSE lab. The workshop was conducted by Innoviance Technologies and recorded 22 registrations for the forenoon and afternoon sessions combined..

Both the workshops were well received by the participants, which gave an insight to the participants about the latest in technology to the participants.

All the events concluded by around 05:00 p.m. after which the valediction program was held. The winners of the different competitions were felicitated.

Square One Salem, succeeded in familiarising those present with the present day technology, at the same time honing their scientific aptitude and managerial skills. The day proved to be a memorable experience to the participants who were over 200 in number.
