I’ve been a huge Tom Clancy fan as a kid

I’ve been a huge Tom Clancy fan as a kid,” says John Krasinski

Graham Roland and Carlton Cuse, co-creators of the Amazon Prime Original series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, were keen to find a compelling actor for the role of Jack Ryan, which they found in John Krasinski!

John’s comic role as paper salesman, Jim Halpert in The Office and his action-hero avatar as a navy seal-turned-defense contractor in Michael Bay’s 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazihad left audiences and his fans in awe of him.
As for John, it was a dream come true. He grabbed the opportunity to portray a character he’d idolized since childhood. “I’ve been a huge Tom Clancy fan ever since I saw Hunt for Red October as a kid and fell in love with the character,” says Krasinski, who recently directed, co-wrote and starred in the 2018 blockbuster A Quiet Place.
Adding further, he said, “After that I read the books. I never imagined I could be a superhero like Batman or Superman, I always felt like I could be Jack Ryan. And unlike James Bond or Jason Bourne, who are larger than life, I think it’s nice to see this guy who just puts his mind to something, believes in something and makes a difference on the front lines.”
Instead of giving undue attention to the fact that John’s six feet three built makes him perfect for the action-hero role, Roland and Cuse have focused more on building Jack Ryan as a witty and clever spy in the series.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on 31st August, 2018.

He is the salty, hardened veteran of the world of spy work and trade craft

He is the salty, hardened veteran of the world of spy work and trade craft

“He is the salty, hardened veteran of the world of spy work and tradecraft”, says John Krasinski on character James Greer in the Prime Original Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan

“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” is an action-packed thrill ride and a comprehensive reimagining of the iconic American hero’s first foray as a CIA operative. It tells the story of how Jack Ryan becomes an unexpected hero as he races to stop an extremist from unleashing an insidious assault on U.S. soil. James Greer (played by Wendell Pierce) is his savvy, dedicated and hard-nosed boss. He is a hot-head whose personal demons have wrecked his family life and derailed his career as a legendary CIA operative. Demoted to a desk job, Greer is eager to get back to the front lines in the war on Terror.

Commenting on the character, John Krasinski said, “One of my favorite characters on this show is James Greer. He is a salty, hardened veteran of the world of spy work and trade craft.”

Cartlon Cuse, co-showrunner, “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”, draws a contrast between the two characters and how they work together in tandem. “Jack Ryan’s character is used to succeeding with his brains. James Greer character knows how to handle himself in the field”, states Carlton Cuse. “He is also a badass,” adds Cuse.

He has stepped over the line once and has been reduced to a dead-ended position in the CIA. Through Jack Ryan, he sees an opportunity to get back on the field. Adding further, Graham Roland, co-showrunner for “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” said, “Everyone was very confident that Wendell was going to be a fantastic James Greer.”

James Greer sees a lot of himself in Jack. The budding friendship and the grudging respect between Ryan and Greer and their evolving relationship is something to look forward to in the show.  The series explores the genesis of the close relationship between Jack Ryan and James Greer that the movies adapted from the book showcased. Real guns used during the shooting of Amazon Prime Original, Jack Ryan

Real guns used during the shooting of Amazon Prime Original, Jack Ryan
The Jack Ryan series, authored by Tom Clancy was a New York Times bestseller in the 80s and 90s. Jack Ryan’s sharp mind and problem solving skills, made him one of the most loved heroes of his time.
In the most recent adaptation in the Prime Original series, the producers of the show have recreated the political thriller while retaining the original characteristics of the franchise that made it so popular. The massive use of gunfire and weaponry in the show makes it look extremely dangerous.

In an attempt to make the series look authentic, a well-trained crew with knowledge of modern arms, heavy artillery, machine guns, pistols and rifles lent expertise to produce the show. Real guns loaded with blanks were also used on the sets. Only, in the scenes where the cast had to perform stunts, real guns were replaced by rubber weaponry, especially when the gun stock was used to hit on the face.

Starring John Krasinski, the makers of Jack Ryan promise to keep us on our toes with their excellent action plot!
Written and created by Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland in association with Amazon Prime Video, Jack Ryan is set to premiere on Prime Video on 31st August 2018.
