Producer T.G. Thyagarajan named as

Producer T.G. Thyagarajan named as Chairman of CII Media and Entertainment, Southern Region*.


Shri T.G. Thyagarajan, one of the most reputed producers in the Indian film industry and founder of well-esteemed production house Sathya Jyothi Films has been appointed as the Chairman, Task Force on Media & Entertainment, CII Southern Region. The CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) works towards the development of the entertainment and media industry.

Mr. Thyagarajan says, “This surprise came in an unheralded way and I am extremely elated about the stature that CII has offered me. Right now, the entire film and media industry, much similar to any other industrial sector is going through an acute crisis. Having got this new role at this critical point of time leaves me with more challenging tasks and I am looking forward to accomplishing it. I believe that my long journey as a producer and an active member of the industry for years has imparted some valuable experience that will help me in this new mission. I thank members of CII for considering and appointing me for this honorable position. Being a part of the Confederation of Indian Industry, which has a history of 125 years is a special honor and I want to add more values with the best of my potentials.”

T.G. Thyagarajan is an acclaimed and prolific media entrepreneur who has produced more than 40 feature films and 5000+ Television episodes in all four southern languages. He is the founder of Sathya Jyothi Films and also has produced several blockbuster films under iconic Sathya Movies with superstars such as Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, Chiranjeevi and Shivaji Ganesan. He was mentored by the legendary film producer and screenwriter R M Veerappan who is his Father in law. His father Mr. Venus T. Govindarajan is also a National award-winning film producer, who has produced more than 50 films in six Indian languages including Hindi.


Mr. Thyagarajan's films have won three National awards and more than 20 state awards.  He received his B.Com degree from Vivekananda College and MBA from Chapman University, California.  He was the former President of Tamil Film Producers Council and Honorary Secretary of South India Film Chamber of Commerce. And the former President of Madras Cricket Club. He was the Board Member of CBFC ( Central Board of Film Certification) nominated by the Government of India. He was also the Founder – President of Society of Television Producers of Southern India (S.T.E.P.S). Currently heads CII's South Initiative for Media and Entertainment.

He is also the recipient of the Kalaimamani award from the Government of TN for contribution to arts and culture.  And he grew up in the movie industry and he is a big fan of his uncle Kalaivanar N S Krishnan and aunt T A Maduram.
