Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology celebrated Col. Dr. Jeppiaar Science Awareness Day


Col. Dr. JEPPIAAR SCIENCE AWARENESS DAY is celebrated every year to recognize the launch of the SATHYABAMASAT on June 22. The primary aim of ‘Science Awareness Day’ is motivate the school students about the information on Technology and Development of various sciences including Space Science, Nuclear Science, Atmospheric Science, Health Science, Earth Science, Electronic Science, and Environmental Science. Progress in Science and Technology of the Nation and its contribution needs to reach the students as they are the future of our nation.


This programme for students highlighted “TODAY’S SCIENCE for TOMORROW’S LEADERS. Guests of Honor for the event includes, Shri.V.Balamurugan, Director-CVRDE, Shri.V.K.Dadhwal Director –IIST and Shri.R.Baskaran, Associate Director of RSEG, IGCAR. Honorable Chancellor of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology Dr.Mariazeena Johnson and President Dr.Marie Johnson delivered the presidential address. Dr.S.Sundar Manoharan delivered the welcome address and Dr.B.Sheela Rani, 





Director Research highlighted the about SATHYABAMASAT and other activities involved in the programme. Exhibitions from various scientific organizations was a great motivation for the students and they also had the opportunity to interact with scientists of national and international reputation.
Scientific Exhibitions from various laboratories including Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research(IGCAR), Combat Vehicles Research development and Establishment (CVRDE) and other National Accredited Labs/private organizations. Science Live Demonstration by Dr.A.Subbiah Pandian, Joint Director of Collegiate Education (Retd), was so interesting and the students had an opportunity to understand the basics of science in day-today life.  


VGP marine kingdom signed the MoU with Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology for research and education collaboration.

For valedictory, Dr.M.Sundaresan, Regional Officer and Assistant Director, AICTE emphasized the importance of student awareness in the progress of the nation. Best deserving school projects bagged the prize in the programme and Dr.M.Sundaresan distributed the prize to students and mementos to the participating schools.

Dr.AK Dhadwal , Director Indian Institute of Space technology brief about advanced retarding potential analyzer for Martian Ionospheric Studies. In 2022, the nation will be sending citizens to space under ‘Gaganyaan’ programme of ISRO. He mentioned that students has to solve the problems using space science and should foucs research on astrobiology, astrophysics and satellite debris.




Dr.V.Balamurugan, Director CVRDE said that India has indigenously developed many technologies when it was denied by other nations .He said our nation is the fourth country to work on anti-satellite mission and DRDo is working on projects such as sub-marine missile and space weaponisation programme.

Dr.R.Baskaran, Associate Director of Radiological safety and environmental group explained the important and various nuclear project developed by Department of atomic energy to support the power shortage in the nation.
