At times, the myth that says – Only films of grandeur will bring art department under the spotlights gets broken by valuable scripts. Arulnithi –Shraddha Srinath starrer “K13” directed by Barath Neelakantan has drawn up closer attention from all ends with its motion posters and visual promos. In fact, it’s surprising to see that art director Kamalanathan has managed to pull it off well with his art department. 

“The first thing that Barath told me during our initial meeting was “Every property in the house is going to be a character”.  That was totally surprising to hear and something that not all art directors could come across often. It was a mixed feeling of excitement and a speculative challenge. Although, I thought how far this statement from him would get materialized and he proved right with his narration, where he had included about the props in the script. However, I wasn’t pretty sure if this would get noticed by the viewers, but was surprised to see it happen by the motion poster itself. Even in the trailer, we could come across specific shots having properties.” says art director Kamalanathan who has substantially engraved his presence in trailer through his art work.  

While speaking about the film’s premise, Kamalanathan says, “K13 isn’t going to be a routine thriller. It has a completely new storytelling pattern and Barath Neelakantan deserves special mention for coming up with such a story. I am sure that audiences will be held intact from the first minute till end for its raciness.” 

Scheduled for worldwide release on May 3, K13 is produced by SP Sankar and Santha Priya for SP Cinemas with Sam CS (Music), Aravinnd Singh (Cinematography), Ruben (Editing), Udhayakumar T (Sound Design).

Arulnithi-Shraddha Srinath starrer ‘K13’ Teaser spins off curiosities to peak

Teasers have now become the real acid tests, where the responsibility becomes so much intense to exhibit the film’s premise in shorter duration. Moreover, things turn to be slightly complex, where revealing anything more than the limits could be a spoiler.  However, filmmaker Barath Neelakantan’s K13 teaser featuring Arulnithi and Shraddha Srinath in lead roles stands out to be a tremendous one. The 84 seconds teaser has stormed up the viewers with unlimited curiosities to know what this film is is all about. The relentless questions like is it is hostage drama, psychological thriller or fantasy one, etc – keeps resonating. Ask filmmaker Barath and he says, “It was literally more challenging to finalize the teaser as we had to go through many other versions too. Thanks to my team, especially editor Ruben for his creative approach. As said, anything more than this could turn out to be a suspense spoiler.” Regarding the genre and premise of the story, he says, “Yes, it’s a thriller and the rest is something audience should experience it themselves on big screens.” 

In addition, the director Barath Neelakantan has taken a blind bet of revealing all the characters including filmmaker Adhik Ravichandran, who was recently reported of playing a crucial role in this movie. “We wanted this teaser not just to be a curtain raiser, but to be a slightest attempt to establish characters too. These days, audiences and film buffs are keen on knowing even the minimal roles even before watching the film. So we attempted something on this and are happy that people have now recognised the characters.”

Certain times, there are movies that keeps sharing the positive vibes  consistently hitting the attention of public glare. At the most evident possibility, Arulnithi-Shraddha Srinath starrer film directed by Barath Neelakantan has been an exact exemplification of it. Be the announcements involving the star-cast, technicians or important moments involving the production, it has nurtured our attention in a greater manner. Now the official word on the film’s title as K13 has created an immense impact.

Sharing the news on the title and its relevance with the movie, Director Barath says, “K13 happens to be the address of a home and it has so much connectivity with the premise of this film. We are bounded to certain limitations of not revealing more than this as we want the audience to experience it by themselves.” 

K13 is an edge of the seat thriller that has both the lead characters essaying unique roles. Adding some interesting information about the reason behind casting them, Barath says, “The earnest reason behind choosing them is the very fact that they are illustrious for choosing challenging content driven roles and they are never in hurry to go for immediate projects irrespective of their successes.”
