Art Director Kamalanathan on “K13”.

At times, the myth that says – Only films of grandeur will bring art department under the spotlights gets broken by valuable scripts. Arulnithi –Shraddha Srinath starrer “K13” directed by Barath Neelakantan has drawn up closer attention from all ends with its motion posters and visual promos. In fact, it’s surprising to see that art director Kamalanathan has managed to pull it off well with his art department.

“The first thing that Barath told me during our initial meeting was “Every property in the house is going to be a character”.  That was totally surprising to hear and something that not all art directors could come across often. It was a mixed feeling of excitement and a speculative challenge. Although, I thought how far this statement from him would get materialized and he proved right with his narration, where he had included about the props in the script. However, I wasn’t pretty sure if this would get noticed by the viewers, but was surprised to see it happen by the motion poster itself. Even in the trailer, we could come across specific shots having properties.” says art director Kamalanathan who has substantially engraved his presence in trailer through his art work.

While speaking about the film’s premise, Kamalanathan says, “K13 isn’t going to be a routine thriller. It has a completely new storytelling pattern and Barath Neelakantan deserves special mention for coming up with such a story. I am sure that audiences will be held intact from the first minute till end for its raciness.”

Scheduled for worldwide release on May 3, K13 is produced by SP Sankar and Santha Priya for SP Cinemas with Sam CS (Music), Aravinnd Singh (Cinematography), Ruben (Editing), Udhayakumar T (Sound Design).

K 13 is all set for a grand release this summer

‘Content is King’ and this theory might look eclipsed certainly at times, but gets revived over and again through some of the proficient filmmakers arriving with unparalleled stories to present. Debutant filmmaker Barath Neelakantan has proved it deliberately with K 13 that had the teaser whelming up everyone with excellent expectations. With the film already censored, the producers have planned to release the album soon followed by the films theatrical release for this summer.

Producer SP Shankar of SP Cinemas says, “What everyone saw in the teaser can be referred as looking through the peephole of K 13 door, for there are lots of unexpected dramatic events to be unleashed as it opens. This was something we decided for the trailer as a psychological means to prepare the audience in accordance to the film’s theme. We were happy that our intelligent audience got the actual grammar of the Trailer and could see many commenting on the shots that has few characters getting introduced through peephole. We are planning to launch the songs shortly and are eyeing for a worldwide theatrical release this summer.”

Adding more upon the commendable performances on the star-cast, Santha Priya of SP Cinemas says, “This might look time-worn as we as producers are continously raving about Arulnithi, but it’s unianimous. Today, we see many comments across social media platforms and online portals from viewers that they are ready to undoubtedly bank their hopes on movies that have Arulnithi in lead roles. Such is the stature that he has gained across the years by choosing scripts that are unique and engaging. His presence has added its golden touch to the movie and this isn’t a customary statement as a producer, but something that people have already recognized and appreciated.”

With K 13 album all set for a launch anytime soon, Sam CS has swept over everyone’s interest with his stellar BGM.  Helmed by filmmaker Barath Neelakantan, the film is produced by S.P. Shankar and Santha Priya for SP Cinemas. Aravinnd Singh has handled cinematography and Ruben is editing the film, which is already censored and gearing up for summer release.

Arulnithi-Shraddha Srinath starrer ‘K 13’ Motion Poster

Arulnithi-Shraddha Srinath starrer ‘K 13’ Motion Poster

While it becomes a natural essence of an actor’s name prefixed with some titles, Arulnithi has significantly gained a reputable one as ‘Content-Driven’ hero. His curious aspirations to travel on such unique roles and scripts have carved him a niche of respectability among the universal audiences. Of course, his upcoming film ‘K 13’ promisingly looks yet another illustration of such attempts from Arulnithi and the posters have already filled audiences with pretty good expectations. More than all, the Motion Poster that is launched now has appealed instantly with upgrading the level of curiosities.

Much equally to the screen presence of Arulnithi, what’s more engrossing is the ‘House’ element, which is being repeatedly registered through the motion poster as it happened before with promotional posters. Be it the objects floating around in an anti-gravity environment (metaphoric?) including a mobile phone, script papers with character images or the green tinted walls, every element has managed to register deep curiosity within.  Ask filmmaker Barath Neelakantan and he says, “The house plays a major backdrop in this film as signified by the title K 13 and we want to prepare the audiences to get settled with that ambience. When the motion poster gets an overwhelming response, which we are sure of, all credit goes to Venky the Designer / Animator, Sound Designer Udhaya Kumar and Music director Darbukka Siva. The unique aspect of the motion poster is the sound is mixed and mastered in 3D for social media which is being done for 1st Time in Tamil Cinema for a Motion Poster

Furthermore, Barath adds that cinematographer Aravinnd Singh, Editor Ruben and stunt choreographer Sudesh will bring up more enthrallments in the full length feature.

Featuring Arulnithi and Shraddha Srinath in lead roles, K 13, the edge of the seat thriller  is produced by SP Shankar and Santha Priya for SP Cinemas.
