'Love Sonia' for women of small towns

Richa Chadha will be hosting a special screening of her upcoming movie, ‘Love Sonia’ for women of small towns and villages across the country to create awareness on human and sex trafficking.

She truly believes that it is extremely essential to educate women at the elementary level in order to eliminate the practice of human sex trade.

Commenting on the same, Richa said, “Love Sonia’s themes are relevant to people from the lower strata of society. Girls should be made aware of the dark reality of human trafficking, right from a young age. High schools and colleges should provide this education, too. After the film’s release, I plan on showing the film to girls in smaller towns. I want to hold these screenings to help create wider awareness and kick-start conversations around this pertinent subject.”

Directed by Tabrez Noorani, Love Sonia is the story of a young girl who gets trapped in the dark and ugly world of global sex trade.

The film has a strong ensemble cast including Freida Pinto, Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, Richa Chadha, Anupam Kher, Adil Hussain, Sai Tamhankar, Sunny Parwar, Demi Moore, Mark Duplass, Noorani is introducing Mrunal Thakur as well as Riya Sisodiya.

Tamasha Talkies and Samraaj Talkies in association with India Take One Productions, Cinemantra Entertainment and Media & Dynasty Consulting Group present Love Sonia. The film is Tabrez Noorani's directorial debut, produced by the Academy Award-nominated producer of Life of Pi, David Womark and Tabrez Noorani. Co-produced by Amar Butala and Executive Producers include Shalini Thackeray, Deepak Nayar, and Pravesh Sahni. The Dynasty Consulting Group was instrumental in setting up the movie. Zee Studios will release the film in India. Love Sonia releases on 14th September 2018.

It is quite rare to find chemistry between co-stars off the screen even when their bond is mind-blowing onscreen. It is inspiring to see and experience powerful women support each other, nevertheless

At the time of Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, the world saw the warm friendship between three extremely gifted actresses, Richa Chadha, Mrunal Thakur, and Freida Pinto. The bond that formed during the shooting of the film, Love Sonia, has stayed even months after that. Mrunal Thakur feels lucky to have Richa and Freida besides her as she is starting her journey into the Bollywood Industry. The amount of love and support she has received from the two and the rest of the world is overwhelming.

The girl gang stood as pillars of strength alongside their director, Tabrez Noorani throughout different International screenings of the film. They had a gala time with each other promoting the film in the global circuit. After receiving love from all over for the trailer and the story of Sonia, the team is extremely excited about the release of the film now in India.

Love Sonia is the outrageous story of a young Indian village girl, Sonia whose life tumultuously changes when she and her sister gets thrown in the global sex trade market. Trying to save her sister, Preeti, the one person she is closest to, Sonia travels from India to Los Angeles.

Tabrez Noorani’s upcoming film, Love Sonia is already touring across International Film Festivals and has been appreciated for its intriguing portrayal of the dark universe, lesser known. Not just a master plot but the choice of faces to justify each character, in turn creates an impact screenplay. While we already know the trailer has created a massive impact on the audience, we’ve now learned about an interesting trivia about the casting of Mrunal Thakur in the film.

The Marathi movie fame, Mrunal was shortlisted out of 2500 faces who had auditioned for the role of Sonia. The casting of the film was very crucial for the makers as the entire story revolves around the agony, Sonia is put into. The script demanded someone who is young, innocent but has a strong mindful inclination at the same time.

Tabrez Noorani, while talking about the extensive research the team had put in, quoted, “We went through 2,500 girls and an extensive casting process to find her. We looked everywhere across different cities in India, we looked for Indian girls in LA, parts of Canada and the UK. So, we really went through several auditions before we found Mrunal. First time when we actually saw her, I think it was a mixture of her vulnerability and innocence. At the same time, you could tell that there is a strong girl which we needed and the minute she auditioned we knew that she is Sonia.”

Murnal seems equally excited with the kind of opportunity she has received. Commenting on the same, she added, “As an actor, you want to fit in every role and be able to portray it with the best of your abilities. But little did I imagine that I would get an important role in my first film itself. The character is the heart and soul of the film. I hope all the hard work put by Tabrez and all of us actors in the film is liked by the audiences.”

Love Sonia narrates the journey of a young village girl Sonia, played by Mrunal, whose life irrevocably changes when she’s exposed to the unsolved maze of global sex trade while trying to save her sister from this heist.

The trailer has already created a massive buzz amongst the audience and the movie is sure to fulfill our expectations and beyond this September.
