Mrunal Thakur’s casting in Tabrez Noorani’s Love Sonia

Tabrez Noorani’s upcoming film, Love Sonia is already touring across International Film Festivals and has been appreciated for its intriguing portrayal of the dark universe, lesser known. Not just a master plot but the choice of faces to justify each character, in turn creates an impact screenplay. While we already know the trailer has created a massive impact on the audience, we’ve now learned about an interesting trivia about the casting of Mrunal Thakur in the film.
The Marathi movie fame, Mrunal was shortlisted out of 2500 faces who had auditioned for the role of Sonia. The casting of the film was very crucial for the makers as the entire story revolves around the agony, Sonia is put into. The script demanded someone who is young, innocent but has a strong mindful inclination at the same time.
Tabrez Noorani, while talking about the extensive research the team had put in, quoted, “We went through 2,500 girls and an extensive casting process to find her. We looked everywhere across different cities in India, we looked for Indian girls in LA, parts of Canada and the UK. So, we really went through several auditions before we found Mrunal. First time when we actually saw her, I think it was a mixture of her vulnerability and innocence. At the same time, you could tell that there is a strong girl which we needed and the minute she auditioned we knew that she is Sonia.”
Murnal seems equally excited with the kind of opportunity she has received. Commenting on the same, she added, “As an actor, you want to fit in every role and be able to portray it with the best of your abilities. But little did I imagine that I would get an important role in my first film itself. The character is the heart and soul of the film. I hope all the hard work put by Tabrez and all of us actors in the film is liked by the audiences.”
Love Sonia narrates the journey of a young village girl Sonia, played by Mrunal, whose life irrevocably changes when she’s exposed to the unsolved maze of global sex trade while trying to save her sister from this heist.
The film stars an ensemble of acclaimed actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadha, Rajkummar Rao, Sai Tamhankar, Adil Hussain, Anupam Kher, Demi Moore, Mark Duplass, and Freida Pinto alongside debutants Mrunal Thakur and Riya Sisodiya in powerful roles.
The trailer has already created a massive buzz amongst the audience and the movie is sure to fulfill our expectations and beyond this September.

The film is Tabrez Noorani's directorial debut, produced by the Academy Award nominated producer of Life of Pi, David Womark and Tabrez Noorani. Co-produced by Amar Butala and Executive Producers include Shalini Thackeray, Deepak Nayar and Pravesh Sahni. The Dynasty Consulting Group was instrumental in setting up the movie. Zee Studios will release the film in India. Love Sonia releases on 14th September 2018
