“வால்டர்” படத்தின் வெகு முக்கியமான பாத்திரத்திற்கு இயக்குநர் கௌதம் மேனனை அணுகியது அனைவரும் அறிந்ததே. அவரும் இந்த கதாப்பாத்திரத்தின் மீது மிகுந்த ஈடுபாடு கொண்டு,  நடிக்க ஒப்புக்கொண்டார். அவரது பிற படங்களை இயக்கும் பணிகளின் காரணத்தால் அவரது கால்ஷீட் எங்கள் படத்திற்கு ஒத்துவராமல் போனது. அதன் பிறகு பல நடிகர்களை இக்கதாப்பாதிரத்திற்கு பரிசீலித்தோம். இறுதியாக “நம்ம வீட்டு பிள்ளை” படத்திற்கு பிறகு நடிகர் நட்டி அவர்களை இக்கதாப்பாத்திரத்திற்கு அணுகினோம். குவியும் வாய்ப்புகளில் நல்லதை மட்டுமே செய்வேன் எனும் கொள்கையில் அவர் இருந்தார். கதையை முழுதாக கேட்ட பின்பே இப்படத்தில் நடிப்பதை பற்றி பேச முடியும் என்றார். கதை கேட்டதன்  முடிவில் படத்தின் மீதும் அவரது பாத்திரம் மீதும் அவருக்கு பெரும் நம்பிக்கை வந்து உடனடியாக நடிக்க ஒத்துக்கொண்டார். அவரது பாத்திரம் சம்பந்தமான காட்சிகளை 15 நாட்கள் முன்னதாக தொடங்கி கும்பகோணம், தஞ்சாவூர், சென்னை ஆகிய இடங்களில் படமாக்கியுள்ளோம்.

அவரது பாத்திரம் முழுக்க வில்லன் என சொல்லமுடியாது. ஆனாலும் படத்தில் அவர் நேர்மறையானவரா அல்லது எதிரமறையானவரா என இறுதி வரை ரசிகர்கள் குழம்பும்படி, அவரது கதாப்பாத்திரம் இருக்கும். கண்டிப்பாக ரசிகர்களிடம் பெரிய வரவேற்பு பெறும் பாத்திரமாக இருக்கும் என்றார்.

Natty replaces Gautham Vasudev Menon in Sibiraj’s Walter 

Cinematographer-actor Natty (a) Nataraj Subramaniam has been celebrated for his multi-faceted onscreen roles, where he is easily adaptable to any characters. Having won decorous reception for his performance in Sivakarthikeyan’s Namma Veettu Pillai, he will be now seen replacing Gautham Vasudev Menon in Sibiraj’s ‘Walter’.  Confirming the news, debutant U Anbu, director of this film says, “As known to everyone, we had initially approached Gautham Vasudev Menon sir for this particular role and he was really excited to don this character. However, he couldn’t take up the project owing to his call sheet issues and directorial commitments. Later, we had to consider many artistes and finally approached Natty sir after the release of Namma Veettu Pillai. 

Despite heavy downpour of offers, he wasn’t on a hurry to sign projects. He told us that he would agree to be a part of this film only after hearing the complete script. Finally, he gave a nod as he liked the film’s premise and his role as well. We started shooting his portions 15 days ago across Kumbakonam, Chennai and Tanjore.”

While there have been erstwhile claims that Natty will be seen in antagonistic shades, director Anbu clarifies opining, “That’s not the actual definition! It is a character that is neither positive nor negative. It will keep you in guesses till the end and that’s his USP,” and continues, “We are confident that his character will find a good reception among audiences.”

Talking about Sibiraj’s performance, Anbu says, “His talents needn’t be mentioned by a newcomer like me for everyone in the industry knows about it. When I speak about his potentials, it isn’t simply limited to wearing the greasepaint and facing the camera, but his knowledge about filmmaking and technical aspects is astounding. He has given complete life to this cop avatar in ‘Walter’.”

Directed by U Anbu, ‘Walter’ is produced by Shruthi Tilak for 11:11 Productions. The film has Shirin Kanchwala of ‘Nenjamundu Nermaiyundu Odu Raja’ playing the female lead and Samuthirakani appears in a prominent role.

MGM Healthcare, a quaternary care hospital in the heart of the city, announced today another successful non-surgical procedure called TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation) on a 69-year-old man who was suffering severe narrowing of Aortic Valve (severe calcific Aortic stenosis) with breathing difficulty.

The 69yr old, morbidly obese gentleman was diagnosed in MGM by Dr. Jyotirmaya Dash, Sr Consultant Interventional cardiologist who performed a Non-surgical Aortic Valve replacement (TAVI or TAVR) through a tube inserted in the leg (femoral artery). The case was very challenging because the patient was having severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), with COPD with Chronic Diabetes with lower limb varicose veins that carried a very high risk for surgery (Aortic valve replacement). The anatomy was also very challenging as the height of the coronary artery was low and the aorta was aligned horizontally. Dr. Jyotirmaya Dash performed TAVI successfully on him and the patient is doing well now.

Post-procedure, Dr. Jyotirmaya Dash, Senior Consultant Interventional cardiologist, said “TAVI is a minimally-invasive procedure that implants a new aortic valve to take over the functions of the old and damaged valve without replacing it. TAVI is a boon to medical science today. The patient can undergo this non-surgical procedure with minimal risk, post-procedure the patient requires to stay in hospital only for 3 days and they can resume to their normal routine in 2 weeks”

Meanwhile with having made a strong debut at the Lakme Fashion Week 2019 and having Chitrandga Singh as her showstopper the designer has also been appointed in the jury and would also be the official designer for the upcoming hunt of Miss India Quintessential. Talking about the hunt the designer says, “This collection has a lot to offer in terms of vibrant colors and intricate designs which are made to make you feel empowered but you will have to wait to see how beautifully it transforms in design.

Anjali shares the experience of working each design and about with her collaboration with Chitrandga Singh, “Each and every design takes a good amount of time for us to make after I am done with the initial design. Every minute detail is to be followed as per instructions to see the real piece of art. The designs I showcased at LFW 2019 were called Delilah and were inspired by frost flowers formed during the freezing temperatures. The fall-winter time is one of the most beautiful times and so was the show, Chitrangda was a perfect muse and a gorgeous showstopper, she was exactly how I thought she would be, perfect combination style, class, and beauty. I think she would be every designer’s muse in their heads while they create their design.”

Anjali is the torchbearer of designs having a touch of modernity and contemporary look along with the traditional twist. Being modern at heart at the same time not forgetting her roots, Anjali ensures her collection brings out the Indian-ness, the reflection of our culture and heritage which is also a part of her being born and raised in Delhi.

“Production No.1” wraps up 

It looks like filmmaker Ranjit Jeyakodi will be soon acknowledged as the most eligible recipient of the title ‘Master of Quickies’. With an impeccably perfect planning and execution, the shooting of his forthcoming film produced by Third Eye Entertainment has been wrapped up successfully amidst heavy climatic challenges.

“All credit goes to the entire team and if even a single individual had missed to extend their contributions, this would have not been possible. The 30-day schedule was completely challenging for we had to shoot across the extremely cold climatic conditions in and around Ooty,” says Ranjit Jeyakodi.  He continues to add, “Half the way of shoot, I started doubting if the artistes, especially Bindu Madhavi and Darshana Banik would be able to cooperate for the climatic issues were completely unbearable. I was really surprised to see their dedication. I must also appreciate the cinematographer Kavin Raj and his team for being so much supportive in letting the entire shoot proceed smoothly. There were lots of challenges to be faced, which include ‘Lighting’. Overall, it’s due to the complete cooperation and coordination of Production team, nothing seemed like a hurdle and we could wrap up the shoot as planned on time.”

With the shooting wrapped up, the post-production work is now happening on full swing, the makers will be soon making announcements pertaining to the first look. Tentatively titled as “Production No.1”, the film revolves around the turbulent incidents that happen when two sisters (played by Bindu Madhavi and Darshana Banik) travel to their native land to sell an ancestral property.

• Lucknow witnessed the maximum growth for wedding services, with a whopping 824.90% increase in user base in 2019 as compared to last year

OYO’s Weddingz.in, India’s largest wedding company launched the first edition of Weddingz.in Wows Report 2019, a snapshot of how India tied the knot this year. Data collated between 01 January 2019 and 26 December 2019 reveals that among destination weddings, Goa topped charts as the most sought-after location, followed by other tourist hotspots such as Udaipur, Jaipur, Jim Corbett, Agra, Igatpuri and Lonavala. 

Another interesting finding revealed that Delhi and Mumbai saw the maximum number of weddings take place in 2019. However, the industry observed a huge gap in the kind of events preferred by both the metro cities. On one hand, Delhiites preferred a grand affair with lavish outdoor celebrations at a farmhouse or a lawn, comprising of elaborate rituals, decor and food choices. On the other, Mumbai opted to host simpler and elegant indoor wedding functions, with an inclination towards banquet halls. 

Sharing his insights on wedding trends observed in 2019, Sandeep Lodha, CEO, Weddingz.in said, “This year has been extremely fruitful for the Indian wedding industry. We’ve observed that couples today are demanding a wide range of services to choose from, opting for an amalgamation of traditional and contemporary offerings and embracing new concepts. This opens up a huge opportunity for the industry. As far as 2020 is concerned, we will continue to keep consumer delight and satisfaction at the heart of everything we do. We will focus on widening our services, offer an omnichannel experience for customers as well as expand our footprint across newer cities in India.”

Destination weddings of the year: Organising weddings at picturesque locations was a trend that took the entire segment by storm, and became a fad amongst new-age couples — working millennials. The most popular wedding destinations included beaches, especially in Goa. Among hilly locations, cities in North India including Shimla, Dehradun and Mussoorie were the most popular choices. For elaborate destination weddings that exhibit old world charm, forts in Udaipur and Jaipur proved to be the premier choice of consumers.

How millennial couples capture moments: Additionally, to add an extra oomph factor to their wedding celebrations, services like photography, videography and make-up emerged as the most demanded by to-be-wed Indian couples. Among photography trends, pre-wedding shoots, candids and traditional shots were on the rise this year.

Bride-in-command: Contrary to traditional times, today the bride is the primary decision-maker with a dominant say over the aesthetic requirements of her wedding, like the decor, stage requirements, etc. Interestingly, pastel theme decor was a hot trend in 2019, with most couples opting for subtle hues instead of the more traditional color schemes. Indian weddings are known to be week-long affairs, with several elaborate pre-wedding functions. In 2019, the traditional Mehendi function topped charts as the most held pre-wedding ceremony, closely followed by Haldi (including Chuda), Sangeet and Cocktail parties. 

Weddingz.in guest lists in 2019: In the past couple of years, smaller and close-knit weddings have been the norm. This year, an average Indian wedding hosted 250 people. Among Weddingz.in executed weddings, the smallest guestlist comprised of only 50 guests, whereas the biggest guest list saw about 650 people attend an elaborate wedding.

Even as the new game show Kodeeswari is wooing television viewers across the entire state, COLORS Tamil is ready with a thought-provoking show that promises to break many stereotypes. Revolving around pre-marriage pregnancy, UYIRE narrates the story of a simple, innocent girl who transforms into a strong, confident woman as she fights for her unborn child. True to its philosophy and reputation, COLORS Tamil presents another clutter breaking offering. The underlying message of the show is that’s having a child without the certificate of a marriage is a woman’s individual choice and, indeed, her right. The show goes a long way in truly empowering women in the society in a real manner. The bold but gripping show, UYIRE, hits the small screens on January 2 and will be aired from Monday to Saturday at 9.30 PM.

Pavithra lives a simple, upright life, upholding the values taught by her late father. She falls in love but her ambitious, politically-inclined mother kills her lover, as he doesn’t fit into her scheme of things. She even forces Pavithra to marry a single-parent named Sezhiyan, who is seeking a mother’s love for his son. The cunning mother hopes that the marriage will advance her own plans of becoming a major political power. But then, Pavithra realises that she is already pregnant with her lover’s child.
