NITT Press Release on Technology-Based Entrepreneurship Development Programme (TEDP 2018) jointly by CEDI, EDII and DST-NIMAT
The inaugural function of the Technology-Based Entrepreneurship Development Programme (TEDP), a six week programme from 15th October 2018 to 24th November 2018 is organized by Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Incubation (CEDI), NIT, Tiruchirappalli in association with Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), under the auspices of the Department of Science and Technology-National Implementing and Monitoring Agency for Training (DST-NIMAT) Project 2018-19.
Dr.Sivakumaran, Programme Coordinator, TEDP welcomed the dignitaries, prospective entrepreneurs, faculty and the students of the institute. He emphasized the need of the program to train the potential entrepreneurs of Science and Technology graduates in the domain of electronics, communication and information technology. Moreover, the training will cover various aspects of entrepreneurship, including motivation, identification of feasible projects, project report preparation, marketing and raw material purchase and management skills. Classes will be handled by experts, successful entrepreneurs, bank and government officials, and consultants. On successful completion of the programme, the participants will be provided with guidance to set up their own business ventures. Dr. Umapathy, Dean (Research and Consultancy) delivered presidential address and addressed the importance of encouraging entrepneural skills in our institute through CEDI. He also stressed the importance of more such courses need to be organized for students to venture into realizing their goals. Moreover, he also briefed about the various Research and Consultancy activities carried out in our institute.
The inaugural address was delivered by Mr Jayaram Sadasivam, CEO, Sajas Electricals, Tiruchirappalli, Alumnus,1984, EEE. He urged the budding entrepreneurs to work on ideas that can impact the society to an enormous extent. A good business plan and initial funds are part of good starting point for a successful venture. A successful entrepreneur can influence others and motivate them to think and act in his way. Most successful people set goals for themselves and plan to realize them in a time frame.
Dr. Balasundaram, Director, CEDI, who gave an insight into the programme and the possible outcomes that TEDP offers. The function was concluded by Dr. Lakshminarayanan, Program Coordinator who delivered the vote of thanks.
Industrial visits and exposure to R&D lab are the additional takeaways of the programme. Around 25 graduates from various domains such as Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Information Technology are said to be benefitted by this programme.
