Promote and involve women and youth in Agri Activities:

New Delhi, 24th Oct 21018 the launch of “11th Global Agriculture Leadership Summit & Leadership Awards 2018” under the aegis of Indian Council of food and Agriculture (ICFA) took place in New Delhi.

The dignitaries present during the inaugural session were Prof M. S. Swaminathan (Pioneer of India’s Green revolution), Shri Sanjay Agarwal (Secretary of Agriculture, Government of India), Dr. Renu Swarup (Secy, Department of Biotechnology),  Dr. K.V. Subbharao (South Asia Leader, Conrteva Agriscience), Dr. M.J. Khan(Chairman, ICFA)



In his address Prof M. S. Swaminathan said “we need to understand that agriculture is the primary source of livelihood and appreciated NDA govt. efforts to promote agriculture sector. Indian farmers must be given acess to global markets so that exchange of technology takes place. Prof. Swanithan said involving and encouraging women and youth in agriculture would pave the way for further improvement of the sector.  He also spoke on gender equality in farming sector.” He also expressed his views on new technologies and precise agriculture.  

Mr. Sanjay Aggarwal Secretary Agriculture said, inter -ministerial committee submitted the the recommendations on doubling farmers income by 2022 and agriculture ministry is holding a meeting for the same. He also talked about improvising market linkage that could be helpful to connect farmers to market.

Dr. Renu Swaroop Secretary Biotechnology said “Unique combination of technology and policy and prioritising both assists in uplifting the agriculture sector and connecting farmers to market. Key factor in developing the standard of crop production in the country depends completely on public-private partnership. In terms of technology and development, Science and Technology Ministry has done a great work as we are now enabled to work together with the help of scientists and technologists.”

Dr.M. J. Khan, announced the opening of the India International Agro Trade & Technology Fair which will start from 25th Oct 2018 in Pusa. In this fair, veterans  from 15 countries, including India, are participating and discussions on global agenda in the field of agriculture and environment will be held. In this event, many exhibitions, advanced farming-related programs related to storage, transportation, processing, packaging, marketing, export, cultivation of horticulture spices, horticulture, dairy, fisheries, agricultural policies etc. will be discussed.

Agriculture Year Book 2018 was launched by the dignitaries on the dais during the inaugural session (Photo attached with caption). The book focuses on promoting research investment in Agribiotech, undertaking policy advocacy for supportive regulatory and policy environment for agribiotech & educating various stakeholders about the benefits of Agribiotech.
