NMDC sets new production records in

NMDC sets new production records in the New Year

NMDC, the country's largest Iron Ore producer, and a Navratna CPSE, after a remarkable performance in the crisis year of 2020 has continued with its excellent performance in the first month of the year 2021.

Iron ore production for the month of January 2021 stood at 3.86 MT (Million Tons) against the production level of 3.31 MT in January 2020, thereby registering a growth of 16.7%. January 2021 production and sales are the highest ever January production and sales since the inception of NMDC. On 31st January 2021, NMDC was able to achieve production of 1.65 lakh tonnes on a single day which is the highest for any day in this financial year.

Iron ore sales for the month of January 2021 is 3.74 MT against the sales level of 2.96 MT in January 2020, thereby registering a growth of 26.4%.

Iron ore production upto January in FY21 is 25.66 MT i.e. at par with CPLY. Similarly iron ore sales upto January in FY21 is 26.01 MT which is above CPLY, inspite of COVID-19 pandemic this year.

With the encouraging production and sales figures this year, NMDC will exceed the production and sales of the previous year. The steady performance in 2020-21 despite the problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the continuous improvement in performance showcases the determination and grit of Team NMDC.

Speaking about the production achievements, Shri Sumit Deb, CMD, NMDC, commented, “NMDC is on its way to exceed and maintain its leadership in the industry. We performed remarkably well during the crisis of 2020 and with modern processes being implemented we are confident to do even better. NMDC is the first PSE to implement SAP S4 HANA making us frontrunners in the digital transformation of the mining industry. I congratulate Team NMDC for the excellent performance and I have faith that going forward we will continue to break new grounds.”

Shri Deb commenting on the budget said “This Union Budget has given thrust on infrastructure, along with manufacturing. This will drive the demand for steel which in turn will drive the demand for iron ore. NMDC with its 7 operational iron ore mines is committed to meet the increased demand of iron ore in the country. With higher spending in these sectors, the Budget has taken steps in the right direction to continue reviving the economy. This shall further increase employment opportunities in the country through private and public investments that was paved through the boost on infrastructure and other sectors.”

December performance helps NMDC

December performance helps NMDC end the year on a good note

NMDC, the country's largest Iron Ore producer, and a Navratna Company, continued the impressive performance run in the month of December 2020 also. This is the 5th month in 2020, when production and sales showed an uptick when compared to the CPLY.

Iron ore production for the month of December 2020 is 3.86 MT (Million Tonnes) against the production level of 3.13 MT in December 2019, thereby registering a growth of 23.3%.

Iron ore production in Q3 of FY20 is 9.61 MT against the production of 8.56 MT in Q3 of FY19, thereby registering a growth of 12.3% (CPLY).

Iron ore sales for the month of December 2020 is 3.62 MT against the sales level of 3.04 MT in December 2019, thereby registering a growth of 19.1%.

Iron ore sales in Q3 of FY20 is 9.44 MT against the sales in Q3 of FY19 is 8.44, thereby registering a growth of 11.8% (CPLY).

NMDC is steadily improving its performance every month and continues to enhance the production level month on month. The performance of the last few months and December showcases production and sales will exceed last year’s performance, despite the adverse circumstances of 2020. The performance proves NMDC’s ability to battle any challenge and maintain its leadership position in the industry.

Shri Sumit Deb, CMD, NMDC commented “The steady growth in performance has helped us end the year on a good note. We are on our way to better the cumulative figures both physical and financial parameters of the previous year. Indian steel industry revival needs support to tide over the crisis and we are doing our best to cater to it. NMDC bags CSR Excellence Awards

 NMDC bags CSR Excellence Awards

 

The country’s largest Iron-ore producing Navratna Company, NMDC conferred with two coveted awards for its excellence in unique CSR initiatives at Apex India CSR Excellence Awards - 2019.  

NMDC’s Bacheli Iron Ore Mining Complex (BIOM) bagged Platinum Award in CSR EXCELLENCE category and Gold Award for its Education City in CSR PROJECT OF THE DECADE category at Apex India CSR Excellence Awards - 2019.  These awards are conferred to NMDC BIOM Bacheli Complex in recognition of its unique CSR initiatives that have been taken to uplift the tribal community, provide opportunities for local tribal youth and women to gain meaningful employment and for livelihood generation in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. 


 

NMDC has established an Education City partnered with the Govt. of Chhattisgarh at Geedam, Dantewada District with institutions ranging from primary school to professional institutions like polytechnics in a single campus. The Education City includes Aastha Gurukul - a residential school with the capacity of 1200 students and Saksham - a 100% specially-abled friendly residential school. This opportunity for education is being provided to students of insurgency-affected areas and to the local tribal children.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sumit Deb, CMD, NMDC said, “We are delighted to receive the Platinum Award and Gold Award in CSR category from Apex India for implementing remarkable CSR initiatives in Bastar, Chhattisgarh. NMDC’s efforts towards the development of the community has always been appreciated by various institutions and the government. We are committed to the development of Chhattisgarh and its people with our CSR efforts and will continue to progress in that direction.”

NMDC undertakes activities under its CSR Program in the focus areas of Education, Health & Hygiene, Drinking Water, Rural Development, Skill Development, and Sports. For the socio-economic development of the regions where the company has its operations, NMDC has a unique and widely acclaimed consultative mechanism spanning nearly the whole spectrum of stakeholders’ rights from village/community level to district level extending up to the State Government level.

The awards will be presented during the Awards Ceremony that will be held by APEX India Foundation.

NMDC registers record jump in production and
sales of iron ore in July 2020
Production improves by 35% & Sales by 20% in Chhattisgarh
The mining major NMDC, India’s largest iron-ore producer and a diversified Navaratna PSU, recorded a sharp rise in overall production and sales in July 2020 as compared to the corresponding period in July 2019.
During this period, despite the current uncertain situation due to COVID-19, NMDC has been able to achieve excellent physical performance through its continual push towards higher volumes which saw production of 2.19 MT and sales 2.57 MT that grew by 13% and 7% over the corresponding period last year, respectively.
In July 2020, the Chhattisgarh Projects registered a production of 1.56 million tonnes as compared to the total production of 1.16 million tonnes in the corresponding month of July last year, an increase of 35% in production. NMDC also achieved record sales in July 2020 by selling 1.90 million tonnes of Iron ore in July 2020 against 1.60 million tonnes in July 2019, which is 20% higher than the previous year.
Shri Sumit Deb, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of NMDC, commented that, “The last few months have been quite challenging for the entire industry due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation impacting the performance of all major producers. However this challenge was treated as an opportunity by us to accelerate our efforts towards stabilizing the production and continuously improving our production processes. Going forward NMDC will strive to maximize cost efficiencies to improve its bottom-line.”
