UFO Moviez Reports Q1FY20 Results

          

Advertisement Revenue stood at ₹440 Mn
EBITDA grew 2.0% to 289 Mn & PAT higher by 8.1% to 82 Mn
UFO Moviez India Limited, India’s largest digital cinema distribution network and in-cinema advertising platform, today, announced its financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2019.

Financial Highlights:

Quarter ended June 30, 2019
Consolidated revenue stood at ₹1,268 (Q1FY19 – ₹1,347) million. EBITDA grew by 2.0% to ₹289 (Q1FY19 – ₹283) million. PBT was higher by 15.3% to ₹135 (Q1FY19 – ₹117) million and PAT grew by 8.1% to ₹82 (Q1FY19 – ₹76) million.
                      
Advertisement revenue stood at ₹440 (Q1FY19 – ₹451) million. Average advertisement minutes sold per show per screen grew to 4.64 (Q1FY19 – 4.46) minutes during Q1FY20.

“Fiscal year 2020 started on expected lines with moderate earnings growth in Q1FY20” said Kapil Agarwal, Joint Managing Director. “We continued to see positive movement in the Corporate advertisement vertical which grew by over 18% Y-o-Y. Government advertisement performance as expected was subdued due to the imposition of the Model Code of Conduct. Looking forward, we remain optimistic about the future as we continue to focus on what is best for our shareholders and all stakeholders

UFO Moviez launched a unique social media initiative #DearPapaWithUFO to celebrate Father’s Day



To make Father’s Day more memorable, UFO Moviez, India’s largest digital cinema distribution network and in-cinema advertising platform has launched unique social media initiative #DearPapaWithUFO. The winners will get once in a lifetime opportunity to watch their Father’s Day video message on the big screen along with their fathers. The contest began on 10 June and ends on 13 June 2019.
A social media contest is being conducted on UFO Moviez social media platforms, encouraging participants to post their selfie video wishing their fathers on Father’s Day mentioning hashtag #DearPapaWithUFO and tagging UFO Moviez in their posts. Participants with the most heart touching video messages will be declared as winners. Gratification includes screening of the Father’s Day video on UFO Moviez screens pan India, along with free movie tickets and exciting gift hampers.

Financial Highlights:

Quarter ended March 31, 2019
Consolidated revenues increased by 19.7% to ₹1,939 (Q4FY18 – ₹1,620) million. EBITDA grew by 13.8% to ₹656 (Q4FY18 – ₹576) million. PBT was higher by 17.0% to ₹480 (Q4FY18 – ₹410) million and PAT grew by 29.7% to ₹335 (Q4FY18 – ₹259) million.
                
Advertisement revenue grew 3.6% to ₹805 (Q4FY18 – ₹777) million. Average advertisement minutes sold per show per screen stood at 6.85(Q4FY18 – 7.39) minutes.

Year ended March 31, 2019
Consolidated revenues increased by 3.3% to ₹6,169 (FY18 – ₹5,970) million. EBITDA stood at ₹1,683 (FY18 – ₹1,729) million, PBT was higher by 1.1% to ₹995 (FY18 – ₹984) million and PAT grew 5.9% to ₹665 (FY18 – ₹629) million.

Advertisement revenue grew 11.1% to ₹2,372 (FY18 – ₹2,136) million. Average advertisement minutes sold per show per screen grew to 5.54 (FY18 – 5.19) minutes.

“We are pleased with UFO’s advertisement performance and earnings growth in fiscal year 2019,” said Kapil Agarwal, Joint Managing Director. “Our performance demonstrates our continued ability to deliver on our advertisement objectives, with Corporate advertisement revenues growing 15% during the year. In line with the Company’s capital distribution philosophy, the Board has enhanced the dividend to 150% for the fiscal year 2019. Further, in view of the accumulated cash available with the Company, the Board has also declared a one-time special interim dividend of 150%. UFO has established the building blocks to capitalize on opportunities and deliver long-term growth.”

UFO Moviez’s heartfelt gesture for their employees on Mother’s Day



 UFO Moviez, India’s largest digital cinema distribution network and in-cinema advertising platform had a very sweet gesture for its employees (mothers) on Mother’s Day. The team organized and delivered a personalized hand written letter by their kids to the employees (mothers). 
The 2 minute 0 4 seconds video showcases employees (mothers) getting a hand written letter from their kids. On reading the letter, the reaction on mother’s faces was priceless; they could not hide their emotions and were overwhelmed as they couldn’t have received a better gift than this from their children on Mother’s day. 

Various social media activities were undertaken by UFO Moviez to celebrate ‘Cinema’ as well as it mother of all screens.

The 2-screen multiplex theatre, Rockstar NOVA Cinemaz is located at Lakdu Plaza, Olanda Naka, Virar, Maharashtra. Hindi movie - Lukka Chuppi and Marathi Movie - Dokyala Shot were screened in its opening week. With this addition, NOVA Cinemaz strengthens its growth in Maharashtra with 12 screens in 6 properties.

 THE UNITED NATIONS WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME (WFP)

Global cinema ad draws attention to the potential lost every time a child dies of hunger

Supported by SAWA, the Global Cinema Advertising Association, the­­ ad is to air in more than 30 countries. It invites viewers to help end hunger with WFP’s ShareTheMeal app. The ad is also supported by a Facebook and Instagram marketing campaign 

 UFO Moviez today announced its support for “Feed Our Future,” a powerful new advertising campaign aimed at getting global cinema audiences to tackle global hunger by supporting the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s leading humanitarian organization fighting hunger worldwide. 

With the support of Facebook, “Feed Our Future” was launched via a Facebook Live from Facebook’s Mumbai office, and was hosted by renowned television personality Mini Mathur and featured: critically acclaimed director R Balki, the Founder of Feeding India Ankit Kawatra, celebrity chef and award-winning author Vicky Ratnani, Mr. Siddharth Bhardwaj, Chief Marketing Officer & National Sales Head, UFO Moviez and megastars Sonam Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, and UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador Dia Mirza.

“This is the first time in India that a campaign of this magnitude has run towards a global cause,” said Sanjay Gaikwad, Managing Directorof India’s largest digital cinema network UFO Moviez. “We’re happy to address the issue of global hunger in India with the World Food Programme. Cinema is the most impactful medium to deliver such a message to the audience in a highly captive environment. To add to this, UFO Moviez is the largest in-cinema advertising network and will run the emotionally stirring 60sec ad film across its screens for eight weeks.”

The 60-second cinema advertisement was conceived by advertising legend Sir John Hegarty and The Garage Soho. It was directed by acclaimed film director Lynne Ramsay and produced by award-winning production company Somesuch & Co. SAWA, the Global Cinema Advertising Association, in association with WFP, will air “Feed Our Future” on cinema screens in more than 30 countries with a call to action to download WFP’s mobile-app, ShareTheMeal.

The advertisement shows a bustling news conference with journalists vying to interview the recipient of a breakthrough medical research award. But the journalists learn that there was ultimately no medical breakthrough – the chilling conclusion reveals that Miriam Adeke, the young woman in question, had in fact died of hunger when she was only eight years old.

“The creative challenge here is to find a way of engaging the audience without resorting to endless images of starving children. Creating empathy by reminding the viewer that when a child dies, we all lose,” said Sir John Hegarty.

Inspired by the cinema advertisement’s message, Facebook is bringing the campaign to life through an integrated digital campaign. Borne from a “Hack for Good” at the recent Cannes Lions Festival for Creativity, the Facebook Messenger experience was created by a team of award-winning creatives from across the industry and Facebook’s Creative Shop to give viewers the opportunity to engage with the character from the advertisement and learn more about hunger. At a time when 821 million people – roughly one in nine of the global population – still go to bed on an empty stomach, this new digital integration will bring the offline online by connecting viewers with the cinema advertisement and the issue in an exciting new way.
 


“Hunger is a major global issue,” said Cheryl Wannell, CEO of SAWA. “It is therefore fitting that the Cinema medium, with its global reach, should be proactive in driving awareness for the World Food Programme. Millennials who are educated, socially aware and a hard to reach demographic, make up a large part of the Cinema audience and these are the people that can and will facilitate change. 







Since 2015, the Cinema Medium has stepped up to support the Sustainable Development Goals and we are committed in 2018 and beyond to make the World Food Programme famous by using the power and impact of the Cinema Medium. SAWA encourages other mediums to do likewise.”

The Facebook Messenger experience will enable viewers to engage with the ad’s main character, Miriam Adeke, to learn more about her story and the issue of hunger by searching ‘ShareTheMeal’ on Messenger.

Thanks to UFO Moviez’s generous support, the advertisement will air on UFO Moviez’s screens across India for the next eight weeks, and the message about aiming for a world with Zero Hunger will be heard by millions across India.
