COLORS Tamil presents a new mythological series

COLORS Tamil presents a new mythological series – AMMAN

Hindu mythology is a treasure trove of stories that imparts knowledge and values. Just like the rest of India, Tamil Nadu too is deeply rooted in mythology with its own traditions and beliefs. Among its many gods, Amman commands a particularly special place, revered as Mother Goddess. COLORS Tamil is proud to present the fables of ‘Amman’, inspirational and never-seen-before stories for our Tamil viewers. To be aired from Monday to Saturday starting January 27 at 7.00 pm, the show promises to enthral and educate viewers while keeping the connection with ‘old India’ alive.

Amman- the Goddess is worshipped not just for being the harbinger of prosperity as she brings rains that are crucial for crops, but also, there are a number of stories about her power which are a part of folklore in many parts of the state, especially in rural Tamil Nadu.
The story revolves around a small town girl, Shakthi, who possesses supernatural powers and can even fore-tell the near future. The villagers soon begin to take her words as true and follow her advice for their own prosperity. Overwhelmed by Amman’s positive aura, everybody looks up to her as God’s child and all start worshiping her. In the same village lives Eshwar, a talented doctor, who tries to drive a wedge between Shakthi and the villagers. During this attempt, an unusual love blossoms between the two, making it a fascinating tale.

Marking the launch of Amman, Anup Chandrasekharan, Business Head - COLORS Tamil said, “COLORS Tamil offers its viewers an array of shows that cover romance, action and comedy. We also tell women-oriented stories that also highlight the many taboos in the society. With Amman, we are set to further strengthen our prime time-band with Eshwar and Shakthi’s exceptional love story which is sure to connect with the audience.”
The lead protagonists in Amman are played by debutants Pavithra as Shakthi and Amaljith as Dr. Eshwar. Renowned dance master Jennifer plays the role of Shakthi’s elder sister Saradha. The show is directed by Vamanan, Endrendrum Punnagai, Manithan fame Ravi Priyan, and produced by I. Ahmed’s Meraki Film Works.

Amman premieres on COLORS Tamil starting January 27 and will air Monday to Saturday at 7 p.m. Viewers can also tune in anytime on VOOT.
