The inaugural ceremony of the Silver
Jubilee Celebrations of Hindustan College of Arts & Science was
held on, Friday, 31st January 2020, at MGR Hall, Hindustan Campus. His
Excellency, Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. Banwarilal Purohit
graced the occasion as the esteemed Chief Guest. HCAS marked its 25th
year of success by unveiling a plaque and releasing the special edition
of the Silver Jubilee Magazine. The programme began with TamizhThai
Vazhthu.
Dr.
S. Thirumagan, Principal, HCAS, formally welcomed the eminent guests
and presented the Silver Jubilee Report. He proudly shared the
consistent growth of the college since 1995 - the approval of Government
of Tamil Nadu and its affiliation to the University of Madras.He
mentioned the beginning of the college with 100 students and a few
degree courses, that has paved way to
the education of 3500 students with around 200 staff members presently.
Also, he shared with great joy, the achievements of the college,
including B++ grade from NAAC and 2(f) status from UGC. He also
mentioned about Hindostav- a mega inter-collegiate cultural event, where
students from several colleges participate. He concluded his speech by
mentioning the many certificate and add-on courses conducted by the
college for the welfare of the students’community.
The
felicitation address was delivered by Dr. Susan Marthandan, Director,
HCAS. With ecstasy, she shared about the 25 years of growth the college
experienced, mentioning about new developments in the recent past which
includes the Principal being elected as a Syndicate Member of the
University of Madras, the grand two day International Film Festival and
the Mega Alumni Meet- Rehash 2019. She concluded her speech by reminding
the gathering, the great vision of the Founder Chairman, Dr. K C G
Verghese, “To make every man a Success and no man a Failure”.
In
the Presidential address, Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Verghese, Chairperson, HGI
remarked that the Management of HCAS strongly believes that
philanthropy is not just giving alms, but enabling and empowering
everyone to make a decent living. She also mentioned about the Hindustan
Community College which has been successfully functioning for the past
10 years. The award for the Hindustan Community College for Vocational
Skill Development under Skill India Yojana, for a decade of outstanding
service to our society was received by Dr. Susan Marthandan, Director,
Hindustan College of Arts & Science, from the Governor.
