*Actor Director Parthieban salutes Madurai Melamadai Hairdresser Mohan & family, especially daughter Nethra for their selfless humanitarian service and pledges her educational support*
Mohan is the owner of a beauty salon in Melamadai, outskirts of Madurai. With the lockdown in place, his nearby area Nellaithoppu, which has a large number of daily wage workers, has completely fallen into the Corona containment zone.
He saw the plight of those people living in that area and offered all small kinds of assistance with whatever extra money he had with him. What was left over was Rs. 5 Lakh which he had saved over many years for the education of his daughter Nethra, who wanted to become an IAS Officer. Moved by the plight and sufferings of the Nellaithoppu people, Nethra insists her father to make use of that 5 Lakhs saved for her education to feed these people in distress. Enthused by her daughter’s words Mohan withdraws the entire amount and formulates a monthly package including rice, groceries, and vegetables for those suffering 600 plus families and distributes the same following the proper procedures laid down by the government. This is an online video message.
While this news has greatly affected me, I took the help of my friend Sundar who lives in Madurai to speak to Nethra and Mohan, and shared my happiness and appreciation. And though they are not from a rich and thriving family background, Nethra’s intention to help needed to be praised. So, I requested my friend to pleasantly surprise their family with with new Silk Dhoti, Silk Shirts, Angavasthram, Silk Saree, a new dress for Nethra, Crowns, sweets and fruits which was executed to my heart’s content. Also I have accepted all the educational costs Nethra’s school study this year, emphasizing them to approach for any further assistance.
This event was so very gratifying for us who are involved in such activities through Parthiban Manidhaneya Mandram.
