'STOP THE SPREAD' AWARENESS CAMPAIGN HELD AT VELAMMAL

An Awareness Campaign to fight against the spread of COVID-19 was held at Velammal Main School, 
Mogappair Campus, by the Tamil Nadu Police on 8th April, 2020.

This campaign was aimed at raising awareness on how to wear a mask properly, wash hands frequently with an alcohol based solution, maintain social distancing, practicing personal hygiene, coughing etiquette, avoid socializing, how to handle the crowd and raise awareness on combating Corona Virus.

More than five hundred police personnels including Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, Police Superintendents within the city attended the campaign.

The Awareness Campaign concluded on the message  'secure the community and stay protected

VELAMMAL STUDENT WINS A TRIP TO NASA

Master Amrith G.R, class 11 student of Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus has been awarded as the Runner-Up in the International Space Science Competition 2020, through ISSC - 2020(National level) test conducted by Go4guru Inc., USA, in the U-18 category.

As an award winner, he is all set to fly for the International Level Competition (final round)  to be held in May 2020 in USA and will get an opportunity to explore NASA and interact with the NASA astronauts on their space experience  and other latest technology in NASA.

2 lakhs students appeared in the online science aptitude test in October 2019, and 14 students were  selected from India to the final round in USA. Amrith is honoured to be one among them.

The School Management congratulates him for his exemplary achievement and wishes him the best to soar great heights.

HUMAN FORMATION OF WORLD CUP TO CHEER TEAM INDIA AT VELAMMAL

 

In connection with the International Day of Yoga, 5001 students of Velammal Main School, Mogappair campus performed yoga in human formation depicting the world cup 2019 cheering Team India to win the cup. They demonstrated yoga to insist the need for good health and healthy life style. The programme shed light on the benefits of keeping fit, following a healthy diet and regular exercise. Special performance by International champions was an eye attraction.

Mrs South India 2019

Revathy Rangarajan has been in exclusive designer boutique business  for over two decades. She runs an exclusive designer boutique in Mogappair, known as She Boutique. She had recently participated in February 2019 in Mrs India International Pageant In Delhi. Revathy Rangarajan has been crowned as Mrs South India despite intense competition from other participants all over the country in her debut competition. Age is not a barrier for woman to achieve personal milestones. This event was organized to spread awareness of breast cancer. This event which has been conducted in India and Sri Lanka in recent years enables and offers experienced and reputed trainers who are trainers for Bollywood celebrities to provide guidance to participants.

      Velammal Main School, Mogappair campus celebrated Pongal in a grand manner.  The guest of honour  

Dr. T. G. Srinivasan, Health Education Officer, Greater Chennai Corporation presided over the function.

The Anti-Plastic awareness signature campaign was initiated by the Chief Guest. The 15 feet Pongal pot by the students was a feast to everyone’s eyes. The students enjoyed seeing the designed Earthen pots emphasising the theme ‘Go Green’. The guest speech was informative and inspired everyone. The campus looked colourful with the teachers and students in their traditional attire. A wide range of traditional cultural dance performance by the students marked the occasion a memorable one. The Anti- plastic awareness resolution by the students created a message to the society.  Competitions were also conducted for the staff. The programmes were relished and cherished by everyone.

Ms. Y Hemalatha, Principal, received the award on 23^rd December, 2018  from Dr. Attaullah Wahidyar, Senior Advisor, Ministry of Education, Afghanistan at the International School Awards 2018, Dubai, UAE. The management feels proud of the achievement.
