India’s fastest growing scooter rental service, Vogo has announced its partnership with the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) to launch electric scooter rentals across four metro stations in the city. In the pilot phase, Vogo electric scooters will be available at Guindy, Alandur, Vadapalani and Anna Nagar Tower metro station, eventually expanding across the city.

Every Vogo scooter comes with an internet of things (IOT) box fitted that allows the customer to access the key through an OTP-based system. It can be tracked and monitored remotely in real time. Consumers can book rides on the Vogo app and pay digitally for their rides, making it a seamless and hassle-free experience. E-scooters by Vogo will serve as an easy mode of commute to and from the metro station, without leaving any carbon footprint. It will decrease the cost of transport services and reduce the time spent on commute.

Padmanabhan Balakrishnan, Co-Founder, COO, Vogo Automotive Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are grateful to CMRL for the encouragement and support extended to us. Traffic congestion is worsening at an alarming rate across in India. One way to help reduce this is to drive greater usage of public transit solutions like the Chennai Metro Rail. Through the launch of our e-scooters, we aim to drive sustainable mobility and provide effective last mile connectivity solutions. Chennai is poised for tremendous growth and very close to our hearts as I grew up here. We have launched our services at four metro stations which are - Guindy, Alandur, Vadapalani and Anna Nagar Tower in the pilot phase - but soon will offer our services across the city. We aim to collaborate with all modes of public transport in Chennai - MRTS, MTC etc to solve for first and last mile connectivity issues in the city.”

Availability of electric scooters will not only help reduce traffic congestion and reduce carbon footprint but will also solve last mile connectivity issues. It will provide better metro connectivity and encourage more people to switch to public transport to help keep the city green and clean
