Trisha calls for #ENDviolence against every child

She urged 3000 youth leaders takes pledge to speak up and raise awareness

Chennai, 28 August 2019 – UNICEF Celebrity Advocate and popular South Indian film star Ms Trisha Krishnan, urged 3000 young people to speak up and act to end all forms of violence against children.

Speaking at the #ENDviolence Youth Talks, Trisha highlighted the increased number of cases registered under the POCSO between 2014 to 2016. “As per the NCRB 2016 report, the cases reported under the POCSO Act in 2014 was about 9,000, 2015 it was 15,000 and 2016 it has doubled to 36,000 cases.” She revealed the crimes and child rapes are committed by the person in position of trust and known to the child. “About 95% of the offenders of rape cases are known to the victim. This speaks of unsafe environment looming all around for our children.”

Trisha called upon the young people who are 40 percent of India’s population to act and to challenge the widespread violence against girls and women and the patriarchal values that perpetuate inequality between girls and boys, women and men. She emphasized “Young people need to speak up against the age old ‘culture of silence’ which bolsters perpetrators to get away with the heinous crimes.”

The UNICEF Communication Specialist, Sugata Roy echoed Trisha. He said “Adolescents and young people’s voice are not heard on issues affecting their lives. They are not encouraged to participate in the activities which are planned for them. Wherever it happens it is either a tokenism or decorative. So, its high time to create an enabling environment where young people can speak and participate in programmes to end violence.”

End Violence Against Children is a unique collaborative effort that includes UNICEF and other UN agencies, governments, civil society, young people, advocates and champions, all focused on one thing: making the world safe for children.

The event was organized by Stella Maris College and Thozhamai in Partnership with UNICEF.

தமிழில் பெற்ற பெரு வெற்றியைத் தொடர்ந்து 96 படத்தை தெலுங்கிலும் இயக்கி வருகிறார் ப்ரேம். இந்நிலையில் தெலுங்கு சினிமாவில் பிரபல நடிகரும் இயக்குநருமான மாருதிராவின் மகன் அமரர் கொல்லாப்புடி ஸ்ரீனிவாஸ் நினைவாக வழங்கப்படும் சிறந்த அறிமுக இயக்குநருக்கான விருதை இயக்குநர் ப்ரேம் பெற இருக்கிறார். தெலுங்கு சினிமா உலகம் மட்டும் இல்லாமல் மொத்த இந்தியத் திரையுலகுமே இந்த விருதை மிகவும் உணர்வுப்பூர்வமான விசயமாக கருதுகின்றனர். அதற்கான காரணமும் இருக்கிறது.

அது 1992-ம் ஆண்டு! தனது முதல்படமான 'பிரமே புஸ்தகம்' என்ற படத்தை இயக்கி வந்த ஸ்ரீனிவாசன் துரதிருஷ்டவசமாக காலமானார். நடிகர் அஜித் கதாநாயகனாக நடித்த அப்படத்தின் மீதியை மாருதிராவ் இயக்கி முடித்தார். ஒரு படத்தை முழுமையாக இயக்கும் முன் மரணம் தழுவிக்கொண்ட அந்த படைப்பாளியின் கனவுக்கு மரியாதை செய்யும் விதமாக "கொல்லாப்புடி ஸ்ரீனிவாஸ் தேசியவிருது" என்னும் விழா 21 வருடங்களாக நடத்தப்பட்டு வருகிறது. முதல்படத்தை வெற்றிகரமாக இயக்கி அதை மக்கள் மனங்களில் கொண்டாட வைத்த முதல்பட இயக்குநர்களுக்குத் தான் இந்த உணர்ச்சிகரமான விருதை வழங்குவார்கள். அந்த வகையில் இன்னும் 96 வருடங்கள் கடந்தாலும் நம் மனதை இதமாக வருடும் 96 படத்தைத் தந்த இயக்குநர் ப்ரேமிற்கு சிறந்த அறிமுக இயக்குநருக்கான விருதை வழங்க இருக்கிறார்கள். இந்த விருது குறித்து இயக்குநர் ப்ரேம் பேசும்போது,

"எனக்கு என்ன சொல்வதென்றே தெரியவில்லை. எப்படியான விருதுகளாக இருந்தாலும் விருதுகள் நம்மை ஊக்கப்படுத்துபவை தான். ஆனால் இப்படியான விருதை பெற இருக்கிறோம் என்று கேள்விப்பட்டதும் மிகவும் உணர்ச்சி வசப்பட்டேன். எனக்கு வாழ்த்து கூறிய பலரும் 'கங்க்ராட்ஸ்' என்பதோடு கடந்துவிடவில்லை. ஒவ்வொருவரும் இதைப்பற்றி மிகவும் உணர்வுப் பூர்வமாக பேசினார்கள். விஜய்சேதுபதி திரிஷா உள்ளிட்ட பலரும் தங்களின் மகிழ்ச்சியை நெகிழ்ச்சியோடு பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்கள். தற்போது படத்தைத் தெலுங்கில் இயக்க இருக்கும் நிலையில் இப்படியான விருது கிடைத்திருப்பது பெரும் உற்சாகத்தைத் தந்துள்ளது" என்றார்

Trisha and Simran to join for a mega budget action adventure film.

Trisha who got herself to the heart throne of tamils with her magical '96' has got back her Midas touch again . The Markandaeyi of tamil cinema has signed a film co-staring ever beautiful Simran. The film is touted to be an action adventure . director Sumanth Radhakrishnan is Captaining the project.

Producer Vijayaraghavendra of All in pictures says"We have few more surprises waiting for the audience.

The film have got its own merit to be a first of its kind attempt in Indian Cinema. As of now we are planning to start the shoot in first week of March .the shoot will happen in chennai, Kerala ,pichavaram and thailand.

The actresses will also under go serious level of marine training before we kick start the production. The film will be a new milestone by itself and in the careers of cast and crew involved."

The first film I watched after returning from prison was 96: Thirumurugan Gandhi

The team of one of Tamil cinema’s finest and most successful films, 96, celebrated the completion of the film’s 100th day in theatres by choosing to honour all its technicians with mementos.

Produced by S Nandhagopal and distributed by Seven Screen Studios Lalith Kumar, the film, which featured Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in the lead, impressed audiences so much that it continues its successful run in theatres even after being screened on television.

The event, organized by the team to celebrate the 100th day of the film in theatres, was attended by all the cast and crew members of the film including actors Vijay Sethupathi, Trisha, Divyadarshini, Gouri Kishan and Adhithya Bhaskar. Apart from the cast and crew, celebrities such as directors Cheran, Parthiepan and the founder of the May 17 Movement, Thirumurugan Gandhi, were invited as the special guests for the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Thirumurugan Gandhi said, “I am unable to understand until now as to why director Prem Kumar chose to invite me for this event. We were planning to stage a black flag protest against Rajapakse on Saturday and a black flag protest against Prime Minister Modi on Sunday. It was at this time, that I received an invitation for this event. I do not know what connection we have with love.”

The leader went on to say, “Heeding to the request of my comrades, the first film that I watched after returning from prison was 96. It was wonderful. Love is such a wonderful thing. Today, we come across several news reports detailing acid attacks on women who turn down proposals. How can people do such things to the woman they love? It is important that we pay attention to where the fault lies. At a time when such reports on attacks on women are increasing day-by-day, this film, 96, which talks about how to celebrate love, women and nature has released. Love is not a feeling that arises only in humans. It is a basic trait that is there in all beings in this world.

“The story of the film has been made in such a way that the present happens at night and the past happens during the day. The director has shown that love does not end with a man or a woman. Love transcends all of these. It is to be in love with nature,” he said.

The leader went on to say, “In recent times, Vijay Sethupathi has become my favourite actor. I have said this in a recent interview. The reason is I believe he is an example, a reflection of today’s youth. Vijay Sethupathi showcases the problems that the youth of today face. He reflects their likes, preferences, mannerisms and dreams on screen. Today’s heroes in films are like superheroes but Vijay Sethupathi appears to be a common man like us when he appears on screen. That is why he is loved by all. When people face difficulties, it is people like Vijay Sethupathi who are able to reach out easily to them. Trisha had also acted beautifully and my wishes to the director too. “

Gandhi also said, “ Today, the advent of the mobile phones enables us to communicate what we think instantly. We speak about what we like and what we dislike. But this film has spoken beautifully about the experiences of people at a time when there were no cell phones. It has spoken about the experience of either going in person and speaking out what we want to say or not doing so at all, beautifully. The connection between us and this film is love. We love the people. We love nature. That is why we struggle. This is the truth.“

Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Sethupathi said, “ The presence of political leader and activist Thirumurugan Gandhi here is a very pleasant and big surprise for me. We have put him in a compelling situation whereby he has had to talk about love. I am a huge fan of his thoughts and thought processes. Looking at Thirumurugan Gandhi, he said, “The love you have for us is like that of a brother. I wish that spreads even more. You are a well read thinker, who has understood issues well and in their entirety. I have a request to make to you and that is your speeches must be more commercial in nature. All good things must reach everybody. As a big fan, I expect your speeches are in such a way that they reach everybody.”

On the occasion, Vijay Sethupathi also announced that he would be acting in Seven Screen Studios’ next film that is to be directed by newcomer Delhi Prasad Dheenadayal.

In the function, as per director Parthipan’s request, Vijay Sethupathi gave Trisha a friendly hug.

Another highlight of the event was a violin recital by the film’s music director Govind Vasantha, who delighted the audience present by playing the film’s theme song
