Master Mukesh Kanna, Class 6 of Velammal Main School, Mogappair  campus clinched the  Gold Medal in Kungfu, Sub-Junior category at the 5^th State Vovinam Championship 2019, organized by Tamil Nadu Vovinam Association, held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Periyamet,Chennai, recently.

The Management congratulates him for his exemplary achievement.

The Iconic Author Ruskin Bond inspired Velammalians

The contemporary Indian author, Padmashri Ruskin Bond enlightened the students of Velammal  Nexus Schools, sharing the innumerable experiences of his mesmerizing journey as a man of simplicity, and an inspirational poet. The students presented a memorabilia titled ‘Essence, Eighty Five’, a composition of 85 poems woven by the children of Velammal on 29.11.2019 (Friday) at one of the leading hotels in the city. The guest was honoured by the Senior Principal of Velammal Nexus Schools, Mrs. Jayanthy Rajagopalan. The students’ interactive session with the legendary writer and their performance on one of Mr. Bond’s literary works created a cherishable experience for the student community. It was indeed a red - lettered day for all Velammalians to honour and be honoured by this legendary author

VELAMMAL STUDENTS CROWNED YOUNG SCIENTISTS

               

 Students of Velammal Main School, Mogappair campus,  Master Rudhayan K and Ranith Roshan EG of Std IX have been selected for the National Children Science Congress to be held at Trivandrum on 27^th December 2019. The students have made the state proud by emerging winners at the state level competition. They have scripted history by being the first to be selected in the Thiruvallur District in 27 years. The management applauded and felicitated the students on their new remarkable discovery and wished them success at the national level competition

STEM EXPO- 2019 held at Velammal

The IIT foundation of class VI - VIII of Velammal Main School, Mogappair  campus organised STEM EXPO 2019 in the school campus on 23rd November 2019. The budding scientist exhibited many projects. There were around 200 exhibits on various concepts in science, engineering, Technology  and mathematics. The expo  was  organised with a view to encourage and inculcate scientific temper among students. The Guest of Honour, Ms. Paul T Sheeba ,  Assistant Professor, Kings Engineering College, took keen interest in viewing the exhibits and interacted with the students who exuded confidence while explaining the projects that were on  display.

This  exhibition was opened for parents . A large number of parents who witnessed the mega expo enjoyed and appreciated the projects on display. It was a huge success.

The   STEM EXPO 2019 has created a vision to enable the students to scale new heights in innovating projects in science and technology.

GADGET FREE DAY CAMPAIGN WITH 100 TWINS HELD AT VELAMMAL

 
Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus observed Gadget Free Day to celebrate the bond between the parents and children. The idea of the campaign was to create an awareness on reducing the usage of gadgets. The guests of honour      Mr. Arun and Mr. Aravind, casting directors graced the occasion and unveiled the campaign. The guests emphasized the students not to get addicted towards electronic devices instead spend quality time with family and friends. The guests felicitated the winners of the Ovation – Kids Mela and Ramp Walk – Twins. Parents and students shared their testimony on the campaign and the students took a pledge on this momentous occasion. The day was glorified with wide variety of performances by the twins. This event was witnessed by the galaxy of students

INTERNATIONAL CHESS WIZARD MS. RAKSHITTA RAVI FELICITATED AT VELAMMAL

Velammal's  Ms. Rakshitta Ravi, a 14-year-old International Woman Master who recently won the Bronze Medal at the World Youth Chess Championship 2019, was felicitated at Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel Ayanambakkam, Chennai-95 on 1^st November 2019, Friday. She was given a magnanimous welcome by the school. The golden girl also inspired the gathering by her electrifying speech. The speech motivated each and every student to aspire and shine in all areas of their interest. A three dimensional art portrait was gifted to her and a documentary highlighting her success journey was also screened. The caliber of an individual could be unravelled by the opportunity chosen and utilized by the person; this thought hwas been imparted in a manner that inspired the gathering.

VELAMMAL STUDENTS VISIT IIT MADRAS

Students of Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus went on an educational trip to IIT Madras and took part in the Open House 2019, the Science Expo conducted by the Department of Engineering design on 21.09.19, Saturday.  The students were enthralled to see the various projects, attended expert lectures and also had an interactive session with the researchers.  This Expo highlighted Industry presentation, lab presentation on start-ups and Industry Automation.  The students were initiated to understand the various aspects of scientific learning which boosted their knowledge beyond class room.  The students found the trip to be useful and innovative.

Velammal Students spread awareness on ‘Climate Change

At a time when global climate change has escalated to unimaginable levels, a radical thought provocation is needed all across the country. Addressing this need of the hour, an initiative to create awareness on the issues pertaining to climate change was organized by class VI to Class VIII students of Velammal Main School, Mogappair. The students formed a human chain by holding the placards to convey the message on the importance of conservation of water and negative impacts of Global Warming. They also raised slogans creating awareness regarding the negative impacts of Global Warming. It should not be forgotten that time and again, such initiatives by Velammal has led to a significant change in the society.

VELAMMAL EXCELS IN VOLLEYBALL

The U-19 Volleyball boys team of Velammal Main School, Mogappair campus won the NSN Menon Memorial Inter School  tournament by defeating SSVS Mat. Hr. Sec. School with a score of 25 – 12, 25 – 18 in the finals held at NSN Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Chitlapakkam recently. More than 25 teams took part in this tournament. The winners received medals, certificates and a trophy. The School Management appreciates the team for their excellent performance.

VELAMMAL’S BASKETBALL TEAM TRIUMPHS

 The Basketball boys U-14 team of Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus, emerged successful in the finals by defeating Mahindra City School, Chengalpet with  a score of 58-46  in the AMM inter school U-14 basketball championship held  at  AMM Mat. Hr. Sec. School, Kotturpuram, Chennai  recently.  The team was awarded a trophy and the team members were honoured with certificates A. Rohith of Std – IX was awarded a bicycle for his exemplary performance.  The Management congratulated and appreciated the winners.

SEMINAR ON SPACE SCIENCE HELD AT VELAMMAL

Inspiring Indian Scientist, the highest Civilian award recipient Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, Honorary distinguished Professor at  ISRO visited Velammal Main School Mugappair campus on 13.09.19, Friday. The eminent  scientist interacted with the students who are on a trip to Russian Space Center from 28^th September to 6^th October, 2019.  The inspiring session motivated the science aspirants to formulate a route map and achieve great heights in the field of science and technology. He further added that   this  trip to Russia will expose them to the real world situation and enhance the holistic growth of the students. 

The other guests who took part in this session are Mr. Rogalev  Gennady  Andreeevich,Vice Consul & Director,  Russian Consulate General in South India, Padmashri  Sirkazhi G. Sivachidambaram,                  Mr.  R. Muthukumar, Editor and Publisher, Makkal Kural .This session threw light on exploring the skills of the students in Space Science.

Motivational Seminar on Students’ Present Day Challenges held at Velammal

An enlightening session for NEET & IIT aspirants of velammal Nexus schools , Chennai, was organized  on 25.8.2019 at Velammal Main School, Mugappair campus by Mr. Rajesh B Lakhoni, IAS . The Chief Guest presided over the seminar and inspired the Young aspirants to formulate a route map to success. The session threw light on helping the students to better themselves with focus , vision and goal to crack the competitive exams.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT VELAMMAL

 Velammal Main School, Mogappair campus -  Kindergarten and Pre-primary compartments celebrated 73^rd Independence Day at KG Campus.

The tricolour flag was hoisted by the Guest of honour Smt. Sameera Mathew (Reading Specialist, USA) and she presided over the function. The importance of Independence played through Tamil skit by the KG children and spirit of freedom denoted through special dance.

There was ramp walk by the great leaders of the nation. The program concluded with the National Anthem.

34TH ANNUAL SPORTS MEET DIMENSIONS -2019 HELD AT VELAMMAL

34^th Annual Sports Meet was celebrated at Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus on 10^th August,  2019  in a vibrant manner. The guests of honour were Smt. Sunitha,  International Volleyball player and Shri.  Sellamuthu, Retd. IAS, Govt. of Tamil Nadu in labour and employment Department.  The sports  meet  started off by lighting the Olympic Torch followed by the solemn oath. Various events like Silambattam, Mass Drill by   tiny tots, Mass Dance  and self defence act were demonstrated. The exemplary sports achievers were taken on a Victory March. The guest appreciated the management for giving the prime importance to sports and games on par with academics. Beating the retreat by school band students was impressive.

AWARENESS SEMINAR ON BONE HEALTH HELD AT VELAMMAL

Velammal Main  School, Mogappair  Campus  organized  a medical  camp on bone health at the  school premises on 7.08.19. The  Chief Guest   Dr. A. Saravanan MBBS, M. S. Ortho, Rajiv  Gandhi  Govt. Hospital, Chennai addressed  the  students  of class VIII  on the importance  of bone, bone  structure and weird  facts of skeleton. The session  was  interactive and created  an awareness on healthy  ageing  with strong  bones. Bone density check up was given to all  the  staff  of Velammal  by a team of doctors. The session threw light on healthy life style.

DJ BRAVO FELICITATED AT VELAMMAL

DJ Bravo, the Global Cricket Icon swept through the hearts of Velammalians at Velammal Vidyalaya, Mangadu on Monday. He felicitated the exemplary sports achievers and inaugurated the Students’ Cabinet Investiture Ceremony. Arriving amidst the thunderous applause, the icon addressed and greeted the Velammalians. The leaders were honoured with badges. Bravo interacted with the student council  members who asked him questions on his likes and dislikes. Finally, he rocked the stage with his signature Helicopter moves. His speech inspired the Velammalians to channelise their energy to excel in their career path. The management felicitated him cordially during this event. The same felicitation ceremony was also held at Velammal Vidyalaya, Poonamallee.

EID CELEBRATED AT VELAMMAL

Celebrations of all festivals in a school are one of the major activities which enable them to develop an awareness of the world around them, and the traditions and customs of different people living around them. Velammal Main school, Mogappair campus celebrated  Eid ul–Fitr on 4^th June 2019, Tuesday with great fervor and excitement. The celebration began with an informative presentation by the Chief Guest Smt. Parveen Banu, Principal of Iqra Montessori, in which she explained to the children about the meaning, purpose and the importance of Ramadan. Students presented the message about the significance of Ramadan and life of Prophet Mohammad. A special song was sung by the students

VELAMMAL STUDENTS EXCEL IN INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH OLYMPIAD

The Students of Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus Amuthavel Vignesh V.  Std – VI, Meena S. Std – VII and Rohith Kumar S. Std – VIII participated in the International Olympid of English language – 2019 organized recently by Silver Zone Olympiad, New Delhi and bagged the gold medals among innumerable participants across the country.
