Master Mukesh Kanna, Class 6 of Velammal Main School, Mogappair  campus clinched the  Gold Medal in Kungfu, Sub-Junior category at the 5^th State Vovinam Championship 2019, organized by Tamil Nadu Vovinam Association, held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Periyamet,Chennai, recently.

VELAMMAL EXCELS IN KHO- KHO

The U-14 Kho-Kho girls team  of Velammal Main School,  Mogappair Campus defeated Dayasadan Agarwal  Vidyalaya CBSE School in the finals with a score of 9-3 and clinched  the Rolling Trophy for the second consecutive year in the Inter-School Kho-Kho tournament organized by Dayasadan Agarwal Vidyalaya CBSE School held at Nerkundram recently. Around 20 teams took part in this tournament. The Management applauds the team's exuberant performance

The Iconic Author Ruskin Bond inspired Velammalians

The contemporary Indian author, Padmashri Ruskin Bond enlightened the students of Velammal  Nexus Schools, sharing the innumerable experiences of his mesmerizing journey as a man of simplicity, and an inspirational poet. The students presented a memorabilia titled ‘Essence, Eighty Five’, a composition of 85 poems woven by the children of Velammal on 29.11.2019 (Friday) at one of the leading hotels in the city. The guest was honoured by the Senior Principal of Velammal Nexus Schools, Mrs. Jayanthy Rajagopalan. The students’ interactive session with the legendary writer and their performance on one of Mr. Bond’s literary works created a cherishable experience for the student community. It was indeed a red - lettered day for all Velammalians to honour and be honoured by this legendary author

VELAMMAL STUDENTS CROWNED YOUNG SCIENTISTS

               

 Students of Velammal Main School, Mogappair campus,  Master Rudhayan K and Ranith Roshan EG of Std IX have been selected for the National Children Science Congress to be held at Trivandrum on 27^th December 2019. The students have made the state proud by emerging winners at the state level competition. They have scripted history by being the first to be selected in the Thiruvallur District in 27 years. The management applauded and felicitated the students on their new remarkable discovery and wished them success at the national level competition

STEM EXPO- 2019 held at Velammal

The IIT foundation of class VI - VIII of Velammal Main School, Mogappair  campus organised STEM EXPO 2019 in the school campus on 23rd November 2019. The budding scientist exhibited many projects. There were around 200 exhibits on various concepts in science, engineering, Technology  and mathematics. The expo  was  organised with a view to encourage and inculcate scientific temper among students. The Guest of Honour, Ms. Paul T Sheeba ,  Assistant Professor, Kings Engineering College, took keen interest in viewing the exhibits and interacted with the students who exuded confidence while explaining the projects that were on  display.

This  exhibition was opened for parents . A large number of parents who witnessed the mega expo enjoyed and appreciated the projects on display. It was a huge success.

The   STEM EXPO 2019 has created a vision to enable the students to scale new heights in innovating projects in science and technology.

Velammal’s Child prodigy attempts Guinness Record

Velammal Vidyalaya (Annexure),  Mel Ayanambakkam campus felicitated the ingenious, 6 year old Rubik’s cube star Miss  C. SARAH of class I solved the Rubik’s cube with her phenomenal twists & turns. The dexterous Velammalian also recited the verses of the legendary poet & lyricist Vairamuthu simultaneously when she proved her skills blindfolded and set a benchmark of solving it in less than 3 minutes. 

The world’s youngest genius  successfully attempted to claim the title with her maiden venture in to Guinness Book of World Records, Universal Achievers Book of Records, Future Kalam’s Book of records and Tamilnadu Cube Association Records.  The felicitation ceremony took place on 22.11.19 ( Friday) in the august presence of the adroit south Indian actress & former newsreader Smt. Fathima Babu. The ceremony inspired every Velammalian to tap their hidden potential.

GADGET FREE DAY CAMPAIGN WITH 100 TWINS HELD AT VELAMMAL

 
Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus observed Gadget Free Day to celebrate the bond between the parents and children. The idea of the campaign was to create an awareness on reducing the usage of gadgets. The guests of honour      Mr. Arun and Mr. Aravind, casting directors graced the occasion and unveiled the campaign. The guests emphasized the students not to get addicted towards electronic devices instead spend quality time with family and friends. The guests felicitated the winners of the Ovation – Kids Mela and Ramp Walk – Twins. Parents and students shared their testimony on the campaign and the students took a pledge on this momentous occasion. The day was glorified with wide variety of performances by the twins. This event was witnessed by the galaxy of students

VELAMMAL EXCELS IN ROBOTICS

Master D. Prasanna, Master S.  Rishikesan, Master M. Hariharan and Master D. Prajhan of Class 8 of Velammal Main school, Mogappair campus took part in the Robotics Super League organized by Prag  Robotics Pvt. Ltd, Chennai recently. Our students brought laurels to our school  grabbing 1^st prize with a  cash award  worth Rs. 5000 in  the Inter- School  Robotics Competition  held at B.S Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and  Technology. The School Management applauds the stupendous achievers on their remarkable feat.

INTERNATIONAL CHESS WIZARD MS. RAKSHITTA RAVI FELICITATED AT VELAMMAL

Velammal's  Ms. Rakshitta Ravi, a 14-year-old International Woman Master who recently won the Bronze Medal at the World Youth Chess Championship 2019, was felicitated at Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel Ayanambakkam, Chennai-95 on 1^st November 2019, Friday. She was given a magnanimous welcome by the school. The golden girl also inspired the gathering by her electrifying speech. The speech motivated each and every student to aspire and shine in all areas of their interest. A three dimensional art portrait was gifted to her and a documentary highlighting her success journey was also screened. The caliber of an individual could be unravelled by the opportunity chosen and utilized by the person; this thought hwas been imparted in a manner that inspired the gathering.

Velammal Students spread awareness on ‘Climate Change

At a time when global climate change has escalated to unimaginable levels, a radical thought provocation is needed all across the country. Addressing this need of the hour, an initiative to create awareness on the issues pertaining to climate change was organized by class VI to Class VIII students of Velammal Main School, Mogappair. The students formed a human chain by holding the placards to convey the message on the importance of conservation of water and negative impacts of Global Warming. They also raised slogans creating awareness regarding the negative impacts of Global Warming. It should not be forgotten that time and again, such initiatives by Velammal has led to a significant change in the society.
